1. Remove the blanking plugs and fit a new O-ring seal to the pipe. Lubricate the seal with automatic
transmission fluid, and re position the pipe and the
union nut to the radiator.
2. Connect and tighten the union nut.

1. Remove the blanking plugs and fit a new O-ring seal to the cooler pipe. Lubricate the seal with automatic
transmission fluid
2. Reposition the pipe and th e union nut to the radiator.
Connect and tighten the union nut.

ct the hose to the radiator.
9. Connect the radiator coolant top hose.

move the battery cover.
3. Drain the coolant from the radiator.
4. Depressurise the climate control system. Refer to Section 412-
03 Observe all safety warnings and precautions stated in that
section.
5. Release both gas struts, set the engine compartment cover
fully forward to the service acce ss position and support with a
wooden (or similar) strut - take care not to damage the engine
compartment cover or the radiator grille.
6. Remove the twin fan and motor assembly. Refer to Operation
26.25.12 in this section.
7. Di
sconnect the radiator breather hose.
R
e
lease the Quick-Fit hose (radiator to expansion tank)
and disconnect the hose from the radiator.
8. Disc
onnect the transmission oil cooler lower pipe.
1. Disconnect and reposition the union nut, lower cooler pipe to radiator. Di sconnect the pipe.
2. Remove and discard the O- ring seal from the pipe
and fit blanking plugs to the pipe and to the union on
the radiator.
9. From above the vehicle, disconne ct the transmission oil cooler
upper pipe.

1. Remove the bolt which secures the condenser jump hose and discon nect the hose.
2. Remove and discard the O-ring seal from the hose.
3. Fit blanking plugs to the hose and to the receiver / drier.

1. Remove the panel.
2. Remove the radiator top mounting bushes.
16. Disconnect the bonnet switch harness.

2. Remove the condenser.

coolant drain tray in position to catch any spillage when
removing the thermostat cover.

move the two screws which se
cure the radiator grille and
remove the grille for access.

lease and reposition the spring
clip, and disconnect the hose
from the charge air cooler radiator.
5. Di
sconnect the bottom hose from the radiator.
1. Slacken the hose retaining clip and reposition the clip
along the hose.
2. Disconnect the hose from the radiator.
6. Disconnect the radiator bottom hose from the thermostat cover
and air charge cooler.
1. Release and reposition th e hose clip, and disconnect
the bottom hose from th e thermostat cover.
2. Release and reposition the hose clips, and disconnect the two sections of moulded hose from the air charge
cooler.

3. Place the vehicle on a ramp.
4. Working from below the vehicle, remove the power steering
rack for access. Refer to Operation 57.10.01.

onnect the starter motor main terminal.
1. Reposition the rubber b oot from the main terminal.
2. Remove the nut from the starter motor main terminal.
3. Disconnect the main cable from the terminal.
6. Di
sconnect the starter motor solenoid terminal.
1. Reposition the rubber boot from the terminal.
2. Remove the nut from the solenoid terminal.
3. Disconnect the cable from the terminal.
7. Remove the starter mo tor securing bolts.
1. Remove the upper securing bolt. Preferably, use a short 13 mm spanner or a Snap On Half Moon
spanner CMX1113 to initially loosen the bolt. (Refer
to the next step).
2. Remove the lower securing bolt.
3. Carefully remove the starter motor.

pper bolt may be removed (a
fter loosening) using a 3/8"
square drive 13 mm socket, ex tensions and U.J as shown.
1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Tighten
the starter motor securing bolts to 38-48 Nm.
2. Refit the steering rack as detail ed in Operation 57.10.01. Refill
the reservoir with the reco mmended fluid and bleed the
steering system.
3. Lower the ramp. Remove the protection sheets and close the
engine compartment cover.
4. Connect the battery and fit the battery cover.

2. Remove air intake tube / meter / air cleaner cover for access;
refer to 19.10.30.
3. Remove ignition coils; refer to 18.20.41 (bank 1) and 18.20.42
(bank 2).
4. Re
move spark plugs.
5. Clean all components as necessary.

itable lubricant e.

lower four threads of spark plug(s) adjacent to the
