29 Noise NOISE PRODUCED WHEN ENGINE STARTS
NoYe s Whistling noise which becomes high-pitched when
accelerator strongly depressed, disappears shortly
after engine stops.Generator noise.
A/C noise.
Fuel gauge noise.
Horn noise.
Ignition noise.
Turn signal noise.
Washer noise.
Engine coolant temp. gauge noise.
Wiper noise. Whining noise occurs when A/C is operating.
Scratching noise occurs during sudden acceleration, driving on rough
roads or when ignition switch is turned ON.
Clicking sound is heard when horn button is pressed, then
released. Whirring/grating sound is heard when pushed
continuously.
Murmuring sound stops when engine stops.
Tick-tack noise occurs in co-ordination with blinking
offlasher.
Noise occurs during window washer operation.
Scratching noise occurs while engine is running,
and continues a while even after engine stops.
Scraping noise in line with wiper beat.

DISASSEMBLY
1. REMOVE INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL
Remove the screw, then pull the inside handle bezel.
2. REMOVE TRIM BOARD
3. REMOVE THESE PARTS:
(a) Power window master switch
(b) Speaker
(c) Inside handle
(d) Inside handle plate
(e) Armrest bracket
(f) Service hole cover
(g) Weatherstrip
(h) Inside panel frame
(i) Door glass
Torque: 7.4 N´m (76 kgf´cm, 67 in.´lbf)
4. REMOVE DOOR BELT MOULDING
(a) Remove the clip.
(b) Using a screwdriver, remove the door belt moulding as
shown in the illustration.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
5. REMOVE WINDOW GUIDE LOWER PLATE
(a) Remove the bolt of the lower plate and connector.
Torque: 5.4 N´m (55 kgf´cm, 48 in.´lbf)
(b) Unlock the snap by pulling the lower plate.
(c) Remove the snap and lower plate from the stud bolt of the
lower bracket.
(d) Remove the setting nut from the lower bracket.

6. REMOVE WINDOW REGULATOR
(a) Disconnect the connector.
(b) Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and window regulator.
Torque: 7.4 N´m (76 kgf´cm, 67 in.´lbf)
HINT:
At the time of reassembly, please refer to the following item.
Apply MP grease to the glass guide and rollers of the window
regulator.
7. REMOVE DOOR LOCK
(a) Disconnect the connector and clamp.
(b) Disconnect the link from the outside handle.
HINT:
At the time of reassembly, please refer to the following item.
After connecting the link, check that the clearance is within the
specification as shown in the illustration.
(c) Remove the 3 screws.
Torque: 5.0 N´m (51 kgf´cm, 44 in.´lbf)
HINT:
At the time of reassembly, please refer to the following item.
Apply adhesive to the 3 screws.
Part No.08833-00070, THREE BOND 1324 or equiva-
lent.
(d) Remove the door lock through the service hole.
HINT:
At the time of reassembly, please refer to the following item.
Apply MP grease to the sliding and rotating parts of the door
lock.
8. REMOVE THESE PARTS:
(a) Outside handle
(b) Door lock cylinder
(c) Outer rear view mirror

4. CHECK FRONT DOOR GLASS
Check the following items. If the conditions are not met, readjust
the glass.
(1) When you close the door with the glass fully closed,
the A-A, B-B sections are in the same condition as
shown in the illustration below.
(2) When you push the glass firmly from inside, the
glass stops at the roof drip moulding and does not
move.
(3) When you close the door with the glass fully closed,
the glass is not caught in the outside lip of the
weatherstrip and does not touch to the roof drip
moulding.
(4) With the door closed, the glass moves smoothly.
(5) The upper edge of the glass cannot be seen from
outside of the vehicle (edge touching roof side rail
weatherstrip).
(6) While the glass is being raised, the glass and roof
side rail weatherstrip are parallel, and the front and
rear door window upper stops touch at the same
time.

5. ADJUST FRONT DOOR GLASS
Upper side of glass - in/out
(1) Remove the lower plate bolt.
(2) Pull the lower plate so that the snap is unlocked.
(3) Remove the snap and lower plate.
(4) Adjust the glass by turning the setting nut.
(5) Reinstall the lower plate, snap and bolt.
Torque: 5.4 N´m (55 kgf´cm, 48 in.´lbf)
Position (forward/rearward) the glass and attitude of
glass
Loosen the 3 bolts of the carrier plate and adjust.
Torque: 7.4 N´m (76 kgf´cm, 67 in.´lbf)
Position (vertical) the glass and attitude of glass
(when glass fully closed)
Adjust the door window upper stop.
Torque: 11 N´m (115 kgf´cm, 8.3 ft´lbf)

2. REMOVE ROOF SIDE RAIL WEATHERSTRIP
(a) Using a clip remover, remove the 3 clips from the rear side
of the weatherstrip.
(b) Remove the rear side of the weatherstrip from the retain-
er.
3. REMOVE ROOF SIDE RAIL WEATHERSTRIP RETAIN-
ER
Remove the outside garnish seal and retainer.
