Rear Cross-Traffic Safety
With the ignition switch or ENGINE
START/STOP button in the ON posi-
tion, select 'Driver Assistance →
Parking Safety →Rear Cross-Traffic
Safety' from the User Settings menu
to turn on Rear Cross-Traffic
Collision Warning and deselect to
turn off the function.

NOTICE
Settings for Rear Cross-Traffic
Collision Warning include Rear
Cross-Traffic Collision Warning and
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-
Avoidance Assist.

NOTICE
If the engine is restarted, Warning
Timing will maintain the last setting.
Warning Timing
With the ignition switch or ENGINE
START/STOP button in the ON posi-
tion, select 'Driver Assistance →
Warning Timing' from the User
Settings menu to change the initial
warning activation time for Rear
Cross-Traffic Collision Warning.
When the vehicle is first delivered,
warning timing is set to 'Normal' If
you change the warning timing, the
warning time of other Driver Assist
functions may change.
WARNING
When the engine is restarted,
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision
Warning will always turn on.
However, if 'Off' is selected after
the engine is restarted, the driv-
er should always be aware of
the surroundings and drive
safely.

Warning warning
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning
will warn the driver when a collision
is imminent.
Collision warning
To warn the driver of an approaching
vehicle from the rear left/right side of
your vehicle, the outside rearview
mirror will blink and a warning will
appear on the cluster. At the same
time, an audible warning will sound.
If Rear view camera is operating, a
warning will also appear on the info-
tainment screen.
CAUTION
 The setting of the WarningTiming applies to all functionsof Rear Cross-Traffic CollisionWarning.
 Even though ‘Normal’ is selected for warning timing, ifa vehicle from the left or rightside approaches at highspeed, the warning may seemlate.
 Select 'Late' for Warning Timing when traffic is light andwhen driving speed is slow.

Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning
will operate when the following con-
ditions are satisfied:
 Your vehicle gear is shifted to R(Reverse)
 Your vehicle speed is below 5 mph (8 km/h)
 The approaching vehicle is within approximately 82 feet (25 m) from
the left and right side of your vehicle
 The speed of the vehicle approaching from the left and right
is above 3 mph (5 km/h)

NOTICE
If the operating conditions are satis-
fied, there will be a warning when-
ever the vehicle approaches from the
left or right side even though your
vehicle speed is 0 mph (0 km/h).

When Rear Cross-Traffic Collision
Warning is not working properly, the
'Check Rear Cross-Traffic Safety
system' warning message will
appear on the cluster for several sec-
onds, and the master ( ) warning
light will illuminate on the cluster. If
this occurs, have your vehicle
inspected by an authorized Kia deal-
er. When the outside rearview mirror
warning light is not working properly,
the 'Check side view mirror warning
light' warning message will appear
on the cluster for several seconds,
and the master ( ) warning light
will illuminate on the cluster. If this
occurs, have your vehicle inspected
by an authorized Kia dealer.

Warning disabled
When the rear bumper around the
rear-side radar or sensor is covered
with foreign matters, such as snow or
rain, or if you have installed a trailer
or carrier, it can reduce the detecting
performance and temporarily limit or
disable Rear Cross-Traffic Collision
Warning.
If this occurs, the 'Rear Cross-Traffic
Safety disabled. Radar blocked'
warning message will appear on the
cluster.
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning
will operate properly when such foreign
material or trailer, etc., is removed. If Rear Cross-Traffic Collision
Warning does not operate properly
after it is removed, have the function
inspected by an authorized Kia deal-
er.
Limitations of Rear Cross-Traffic
Collision Warning
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning
may not operate properly, or it may
operate unexpectedly under the fol-
lowing circumstances:
 Departing from where trees or grass is overgrown
 Departing from where roads are wet
 Speed of the approaching vehicle is fast or slow

For more details on the limitations
of the rear corner radar, refer to
"Blind-Spot Collision Warning
(BCW) (if equipped)" in chapter 5.

Turn off Rear Cross-Traffic
Collision Warning to install atrailer, carrier, etc., or remove thetrailer, carrier, etc. to use RearCross-Traffic Collision Warning.
WARNING
 Even though the warning message does not appear on
the cluster, Rear Cross-Traffic
Collision Warning may not
properly operate.
 Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning may not properly
operate in an area (e.g. open
terrain), where any substance
are not detected after turning
ON the engine.
