Yo
ur vehicle may be equipped with a long
sliding door with an intermediate de tent. Yo u
can also lock the sliding door in place around
halfw aywhen opening and closing. If you do
th is, the door does not ha vetobe opened
fully when getting into or out of theve hicle.
The sliding door is not fully engaged when in
th e intermediate de tent. #
Tounlo ck:pull lo cking pin 3upwards man‐
ually or use the cent ral locking button to
unlo ckthe sliding door (/ page 49). #
Toopen: press button 1. #
Slide the sliding door byhandle 2back to
th estop. #
Check the sliding door de tent. The sliding
door must be engaged. #
Toclose: press button 1. #
Slide the sliding door firm lyforw ards byhan‐
dle 2until it closes. #
Tolock: push locking pin 3down wards
manually or use the cent ral locking button to
lock the sliding door (/ page 49). Note
s on electrical closing assist If
yo ur vehicle is equipped with an electrical clos‐
ing assist, you will requ ire less forc eto close the
sliding door. Electric sliding door
Fu
nction of the electric sliding door Yo
ur vehicle can be equipped with an electric
sliding door on the left and/or right-hand side. Yo
u can operate the electric sliding door in the
fo llowing ways:
R bypressing the sliding door buttons on the
center console
R bypressing the sliding door button on the
door sill (B-pillar)
R using the door handle (inside or outside)
R using thekey
If th e electric sliding door is obstructed while
opening, it mo ves a few centim eters in the oppo‐
site direction and stops.
If th e sliding door is obstructed during the closing
procedure, it opens fully again.
If th e electric mo tor of the sliding door is in dan‐
ge r of overheating, e.g. due tofrequent opening
and closing within a short period, the sliding door
opens fully. The sliding door is then loc ked in
place. The sliding door is operational again af ter
appr oximately 30 seconds.
If th ere has been a malfunction or if the battery
has been disconnected, you can use there lease
cat chtodisconnect the sliding door from the
electric mo tor.Then you can open or close the

When you open the sliding door, the sliding

Only open the sliding door when tra ffic

Obs tacle de tection does not react tosoft,
light and thin objects, such as fingers. These
or other parts of the body could be pressed
against the door frame, for ins tance. Obs tacle
de tection cannot pr event entrapment in these
ins tances. #
When opening and closing the electric
sliding door, make sure that nobody is
within the operating range of the sliding

WARNING Risk of entrapment when
opening a side window
When opening a side windo w,parts of the
body could be dr awn in or become trapped
between the side window and window frame. #
When opening, make sure that nobody
is touching the side windo w. #
Release the button immediately if some‐
body becomes trapped. Yo
u can ventilate theve hicle before youstart
driving.
To do this, theke y is used tocar ryout thefo llow‐
ing functions simultaneously:
R unlock theve hicle
R open the side windo ws
The "con venience opening" function can only be
ope rated using thekey. Thekey must be in close
pr ox imity tothe driver's or front-passenger door. #
Press and hold the0036 button on thekey.

If yo u adjust the seat height carelessly, you or
ot her vehicle occupants could be trapped and
th ereby injured.
Children in particular could accidentally press
th e electrical seat adjustment buttons and
become trapped. #
While moving the seats, make sure that
hands or other body parts do not get
under the le ver assembly of the seat
adjustment sy stem. &

If head restra ints are not ins talled or are
adjus ted incor rectly, the head restra ints can‐

Always drive with the head restra ints
ins talled. #
Before driving off, make sure forev ery
ve hicle occupant that the center of the
head restra int supports the back of the
head at about eye le vel. Do not inter
change the head restra ints of the
front and rear seats. Otherwise, you will not be
able toset the height and inclination of the head
re stra ints tothe cor rect position. Using
the head restra int fore -and-aft adjustment,
adjust the head restra int so that it is as close to
th e back of the head as possible. &

pulling le ver2 until therequ ired seat height

Toset the seat backrest inclination: rotate
handwheel 3forw ards and backwards until
th ere qu ired position has been reached. Ad

Slide the front passenger seat forw ard before
