Headlights
The
headlight
beams
follow

road
ahead
in

sponse

steering
angle
and

To
prevent
dazzling
oncoming
vehicles,
the
Adaptive
Headlights
do
not
swivel
to
the

site
side
of
the
road
when

Cornering
light
In
sharp
turns
up
to
a
specified
speed,
for

in
hairpin
bends
or
when
turning
off,
a
cornerj ing
light
is
added
to
illuminate
the
inside
area
ofthe
bend.
The
cornering
light
is
activated
automatically
dej
pending
on
the
steering
angle
or
use
of
the
turn indicators,
where
applicable.
When
reversing,
the
cornering
light
is
activated
automatically
as
appropriate,
irrespective
of
the
steering
angle.
Roundabout
light
Shortly
before
driving
onto
a
roundabout,
the
cornering
light
on
both
sides
is
switched
on.
The
edge
of
the
road
is
illuminated
more
effectively.
Shortly
before
leaving
a
roundabout,
the
cornerj ing
light
on
both
sides
is
switched
off

assistance
Principle
High-beam
assistance
detects
other
road
users in
good
time
and
activates
or
deactivates
the high
beam
depending
on
the
traffic
situation.
General High-beam
assistance
ensures
that
the
high-
beam
headlights
are
switched
on
when
the
traffic
situation
allows.
The
system
does
not
switch
on
the
high-beam
headlights
at
low
speeds.
The
system
responds
to
the
lights
from
oncomj
ing
traffic
and
traffic
driving
ahead
of
you,
and
to
ambient
lighting,
for
example
in
built-up
areas.
The
high-beam
headlights
can
be
switched
on
and
off
manually
at
any
time.
If
the
no-dazzle
high-beam
assistant
is
installed,
the
high-beam
headlights
are
not
switched
off for
oncoming
vehicles
or
vehicles
driving
aheadof
you.
The
system
only
masks
those
areas
ofthe
beam
which
would
otherwise
dazzle
oncomjing
traffic
or
traffic
driving
ahead.
In
this
case,
theblue
indicator
lamp
continues
to
illuminate.

Activating/deactivating
Switch
position:



Press
the
button
on
the
turn
indicator
lever.
The
indicator
lamp
in
the
instrument
cluster
is
illuminated
when
the
low-beam headlights
are
switched
on.
The
system
will
switch
automatically
between
low-beam
and
high-beam
headlights.
The
blue
indicator
lamp
in
the
instrument
cluster
illuminates
if
the
high
beam
is
switched
on
by
the
system.
High-beam
assistance
is
deactivated
by
switchj
ing
the
high
beams
on
and
off
manually,
see
page
141.
To
reactivate
high-beam
assistance,
press
the
button
on
the
turn
indicator
lever.
System
limits High-beam
assistance
cannot
replace
the
drivj
er's
own
judgement
as
to
when
to
use
the
high-
beam
headlights.
Therefore
activate
the
dipped
headlights
manually
if
the
situation
requires
it.
In
the
following
situations,
the
system
will
not
opj
erate
or
its
operation
will
be
impaired
and
your
intervention
may
be
required:

extremely
adverse
weather
conditions
such as
fog
or
heavy
precipitation.'xWhen
detecting
poorly

road

Fog
lights
Front
fog
lights
Principle
The
fog
lights
work
alongside
the
low-beam
headlights
to
illuminate
a
wider
area
of
the
roadj way.
Operating
requirements
Before
the
fog
lights
are
switched
on,
the
side lights
or
low-beam
headlights
must
be
switched
on.
Switching

The
green
indicator
lamp
illuminates
if
the
fog
lights
are
switched
on.
If
automatic
driving
lights
control
has
been
actij
vated,
the
low-beam
headlights
illuminate
autoj matically
when
the
front
fog
lights
are
switchedon.

fog
lights If
the
automatic
driving
lights
control
is
activated,the
light
distribution

low-beam
headlights
may
be
adapted

foggy

This
also
applies

the covers

the

airbag
system.
Even
if
all
this
information
is
observed,
injuries
rej
sulting
from
contact
with
the
airbag
cannot
be
entirely
ruled
out
depending
on
the
situation.
The
noise
caused
by
the
deployment
of
an
airj
bag
may
lead
to
temporary
hearing
loss
in
vehij
cle
occupants
sensitive
to
noise.

the
airbag
system

touch
