Safe
seating
position
A
seating
position
that
suitably
reflects
the
rej
quirements
of
the
occupants
is
essential
for
rej
laxed
driving
with
minimum
fatigue.
In
an
accident,
the
correct
seating
position
plays
an
important
role.

Safety
notes
WARNING
Adjusting
the
seat
during
a
journey
could
cause the
seat
to
move
unexpectedly.
You
could
losecontrol
of
the
vehicle.
There
is
a
risk
of
accijdent.
Only
adjust
the
seat
on
the
driver's
side
when
at
a
standstill.
WARNING
If
the
backrest
is
angled
back
too
far,
the
proj tective
function
of
the
seat
belt
will
no
longer

guaranteed.

sliding

in

event

accident.

Adjust
the
seat before
starting

Rear
seats
General
The
backrest
angle
can
be
adjusted
for
the
rear seats.
The
backrest
angle
for
the
middle
section
is
adjusted
together
with
the
left
backrest.
Backrest
angle
Pull
the
lever
and
apply
your
weight
to
or
lift
your
weight
off
the
backrest
as
required.
After
making
an
adjustment,
move
the
backrest
forwards
or
backwards
slightly
to
ensure
that
it
is properly
engaged.
Seat
belts
Number
of
seat
belts
and
belt
buckles
For
the
safety
of
the
vehicle
occupants,
the
vehij
cle
is
equipped
with
five
seat
belts.
However, they
can
only
provide
effective
protection
when
worn
correctly.
The
two
outer
belt
buckles
on
the
rear
seats
are intended
for
those
sitting
on
the
left
and
right.
The
inner
belt
buckle
on
the
rear
seats
is
intenj ded
for
the
person
sitting
in
the
middle.
General Before
each
journey,
always
make
sure
that
alloccupants
have
fastened
their
seat
belts.
The
airbags
supplement
the
seat
belts
as
an
addij tional
safety
device.
The
airbags
are
not
a
substij
tute
for
the
seat
belts.
The
belt
anchorage
is
suitable
for
adults
of
any
stature
if
the
seat
is
adjusted
correctly.

WARNING
If
a
seat
belt
is
used
by
more
than
one
person at
the
same
time,
the
protective
function
of
the
seat
belt
is
no
longer
guaranteed.
There
is
a

person

seat
belt
at
any
one

Do
not
allow
infants
and
children
to
travel
on
the
lap
of
another
occupant.
Instead,
secure
the
inj
fant

restraint

protective
function
of
the
seat
belts

limited

even
fail
completely
if
the
seat
belts
are
worn
incorrectly.
If
a
seat
belt
is
not
worn
correctly,
additional
injuries
can
be
caused,

in

event

accident,
braking
or
avoidance
manoeuvres.
There

Make
sure
that
all
vehicle
occupants
have
fastened
their
seat
belts
correctly.
WARNING
Seat
belts
are
designed
to
bear
upon
the
bony structure
of
the
body
and
should
be
worn
low across
the
front
of
the
pelvis,
or
the
pelvis,chest
and
shoulders,
as
applicable.
Wearing
the
lap
section
of
the
belt
across
the
abdominal area
must
be
avoided.
Seat
belts
should
be
adjusted
as
firmly
as
posj
sible,
consistent
with
comfort,
to
provide
the protection
for
which
they
have
been
designed.
A
slack
belt
will
greatly
reduce
the
protection afforded
to
the
wearer.
Care
should
be
taken
to
avoid
contamination
of
the
webbing
by
polishes,
oils
and
chemicals
and
particularly
battery
acid.
Cleaning
may safely
be
carried
out
using
a
mild
soap
and
waj
ter
solution.
The
belt
should
be
replaced
if
webbing
becomes
frayed,
contaminated
or
damaged.
Seat
belts
should
not
be
worn
with
straps
twisted.
Each
seat
belt
assembly
must
only
be
used
by
one
occupant;
it
is
forbidden
to
put
a
belt
around
a
child
being
carried
on
the
occupant's
lap.
It
is
essential
to
replace
the
entire
assembly
afj ter
it
has
been
worn
in
a
severe
impact
even
if
damage
to
the
assembly
is
not
obvious.
WARNING
No
modifications
or
additions
should
be
made
by
the
user
that
will
either
prevent
the
seat
belt
adjusting
devices
from
operating
to
remove
slack,
or
prevent
the
seat
belt
assembly
from
being
adjusted
to
remove
slack.
WARNING
If
the
rear
backrest
is
not
locked,
the
protective
effect
of
the
middle
seat
belt
is
not
ensured. There
is
a
risk
of
injury
or
even
death.
Lock
thewider
rear
seat
backrest
when
using
the
middleseat
belt.
WARNING
The
protective
function
of
the
seat
belts
may

limited
or
may
even
fail
completely
in
the following
situations:

Seat
belt
reminder
for
driver

front
passenger
seat
General The
seat
belt
reminder
is
activated
when
the
seat
belt

driver's
side

not
fastened.
On
some
country
variants,
the

belt
reminder
is
also
active
if

front
passenger
seat
belt
is not
fastened
and
heavy
objects
are
on
the
