equipment
available
for
themodel
series.
It
may
therefore
describe
equipj
ment

functions
which
are
not
installed

your
vehicle,

the

equipment
selected

variant.

applies
to
safety-relevant
functions
and
systems.

in
the
vehicle

improved
by
the

Temperature
Principle
The
automatic
air
conditioning
adjusts
to
the
set
temperature
as
quickly
as
possible,
using
maxij mum
cooling
or
heating
power
if
necessary.
Thetemperature
is
then
maintained.
To

side
of
the
button
to
set
the
desired
temperature.

Ventilation
temperatureGeneralThe
temperature
of
the
ventilation
in
the
upper
body
area
can
be
adjusted.
The
temperature
is
adjusted
on
an
individual
baj sis,
for
example
towards
the
blue
for
colder
andtowards
the
red
for
warmer.
The
ventilation
air
flow
in
the
upper
body
area
provides
noticeable
heating
or
cooling
dependj
ing
on
the
set
temperature.
The
set
interior
temperature

driver

front seat
passenger
is
not
changed
by
this.

function
Principle
Interior
air
is
cooled
and
dried
and
then
heated again
depending
on
the
temperature
setting.
The
interior
can
only
be
cooled
when
drive-ready
state
is
switched
on.

The
cooling
function
is
switched
on
when
the
engine
is
running.
Depending
on
the
weather
conditions,
the
windj
screen
and
the
side
windows
may
mist
over
for
a
short
time
when
the
drive-ready
state
has
been switched
on.
The
cooling
function
is
switched
on
automatij
cally
in
the
AUTO
programme.
When
the
automatic
air
conditioning
is
in
operaj
tion,
condensation
develops
and
exits
underj
neath
the
vehicle.
Maximum
cooling
effect
Principle
When
drive-ready
state
is
switched
on,
the
sysj
tem
is
set
to
lowest
temperature,
optimum
air
flow
and
recirculated-air
mode.

AUTO
programmePrinciple
The
AUTO
programme
cools,
ventilates
or
heats
the
interior
automatically.
The
air
flow,
air
distribution
and
temperature
are
regulated
automatically
depending
on
the
interior temperature,
the
selected
temperature
settingand
the
selected
intensity
setting.
Switching

The
LED
is
illuminated
when
the
AUTO
programme
is
switched
on.

Depending
on
the
selected
temperature,
intenj sity
of
the
AUTO
programme
and
external
influjences,
the
air
is
directed
towards
the
windj
screen,
the
side
windows,
the
upper
body
and
into
the
footwell.
The
cooling
function
is
switched
on
automatij
cally
in
the
AUTO
programme.
Point
the
side
nozzles
at
the
side
windows. A
condensation
sensor
also
controls
the
proj
gramme
so
that
window
condensation
is
avoided
as
much
as
possible.
The
AUTO
programme
is
automatically
switched
off
when
the
air
distribution
is
set
manually.
Intensity With
the
AUTO
programme
switched
on,
the
inj
tensity
can
be
adjusted.
This
changes
the
autoj
matic
control
for
the
air
flow
and
air
distribution.

flow

controlled

intensity

Automatic
air
recirculation
control
AUC
Principle
Automatic
air
recirculation
control
AUC
detects
pollutants
in
the
outside
air.
The
supply
of
outj
side
air
is
shut
off
and
the
interior
air
is
recirculaj ted.
General When
the
system
is
activated,
a
sensor
detectspollutants
in
the
outside
air
and
controls
shut-off
automatically.
When
the
system
is
deactivated,
outside
air
flows
into
the
interior
continuously.
Continuous
use
of
recirculated-air
mode
worj
sens
air
quality
inside
the
vehicle
and
increases
condensation
on
the
windows.

Recirculated-air
mode Principle
If
the
air
outside
the
vehicle
has
an
unpleasant
odour
or
contains
pollutants,
the
air
supply
to
the
interior
of
the
vehicle
can
be
shut
off.
The
air
inj
side
the
vehicle
is
then
recirculated.
Operation Press
the
button.
The
LED
is
illuminated
when
recirculaj
ted-air
mode
is
switched
on.
The
outside
air
supj ply
is
shut
off.
When
recirculated-air
mode
is
switched
off,
fresh air
is
directed
into
the
vehicle's
interior.

The
recirculated-air
mode
automatically
switches
off
after
a
given
time
depending
on
the
ambient
conditions,
to
avoid
condensation.
Continuous
use
of
recirculated-air
mode
worj
sens
air
quality
inside
the
vehicle
and
increases
condensation
on
the
windows.
If
there
is
condensation,
shut
down
recirculated- air
mode
or
remove
the
condensation.
Adjusting
the
air
flow
manually
Principle
The
air
flow
for
air
conditioning
can
be
set
manj
ually.
General
To
be
able
to
adjust
the
air
flow
manually,
first
switch
off
the
AUTO
programme.
Operation Press
upper
or
lower
side
of
button:
rejduce
or
increase
air
flow.
The
selected
air
flow
is
shown
on
the
climate
display.
In
order
to
protect
the
battery
the
air
flow
rate
is reduced,
if
necessary.
Adjusting
the
air
distribution
manually
Principle
The
air
distribution
for
air
conditioning
can
be
set
manually.
Operation Press
the
button
repeatedly
to
select

and

the
windscreen

Principle
Ice
and
condensation
are
quickly
removed
from the
windscreen
and
the
front
side
windows.

LED
is
illuminated
when
the

tem

switched
on.
The
air
flow
can
be
adjusted
manually
when
the
system
is
switched
on.
If
there
is
condensation
on
the
window,press
the
button
on
the
driver's
side
or
switch
on
the
cooling
function
to
use
the
advanj
tages
of
the
condensation
sensor.
Ensure
that
air can
flow
towards
the
windscreen.
Rear
window
heating
Press
the
button.
The
LED
is
illuminajted.
The
function
is
available
when
the
engine
is
runj
ning.
The
rear
window
heating
is
switched
off
autoj
matically
after
a
while.
Microfilter/activated
carbon
filter The
microfilter
traps
dust
and
pollen
in
the
inj
coming
air.
The
activated
carbon
filter
also
removes
gaseous pollutants
from
the
outside
air
entering
the
vehij
cle.
Have
this
combined
filter
replaced
during
mainj tenance
of
the
vehicle.
Ventilation
Principle
The
direction
of
the
various
air
flows
can
be
set
individually.
Setting
the
ventilation
General The
direction
of
the
air
flows
can
be
set
for
direct
or
indirect
ventilation.
Open
the
side
nozzles
and
position
them
in
a
way
that
ensures
effective
climate
control.
Direct
ventilation
Align
the
air
flow
directly
onto
the
vehicle
occuj pants.
The
air
flow
provides
noticeable
heating
orcooling
depending
on
the
set
temperature.
Indirect
ventilation Do
not
align
the
air
flow
directly
onto
the
vehicle
occupants.
The
vehicle
interior
is
cooled
or heated
indirectly
depending
on
the
set
temperajture.

Principle
The
independent
ventilation
allows
the
temperaj ture
of
the
interior
to
be
adjusted
before
the
jourjney
starts.
Depending
on
the
set
temperature
and
ambient
temperature,
the
interior
is
ventilaj ted
or
heated
using
any
available
residual
heat
from
the
engine.
General
The
system
can
be
switched
on
and
off
directly or
for
a
preselected
departure
time.
The
switch-on
time
is
calculated
based
on
the outside
temperature.
The
system
will
switch
on
in
good
time
before
the
preselected
departure
time.
Operating
requirements
'xThe
vehicle
is
in
rest
or
standby
state
and
not in
drive-ready
state.'xThe
battery
must
be
sufficiently
charged.
When
activated,
the
independent
ventilation uses
power
from
the
vehicle
battery.
As
a
rejsult,
the
maximum
activation
time
is
restrictedto
protect
the
battery.
After
the
engine
isstarted
or
after
driving
a
short
distance,
the
system
will
be
available
again.'xEnsure
that
the
date
and
time
are
set
corj
rectly
in
the
vehicle.'xOpen
the
vents
to
allow
the
air
to
enter
the passenger
compartment.
