Messages in the instrument panel
The instrument panel shows messages in certaincircumstances to inform or assist the driver.
Example of message in the instrument panel.
High-priority messages for the driver are dis-played in the instrument panel.
The messages may appear in different parts ofthe instrument panel depending on what otherinformation is currently being displayed. The mes-sage will disappear from the instrument panelafter a short period of time or after it has beenacknowledged or any required action has beentaken. Messages that need to be saved arestored in the Car Status app, which can beopened from the App view in the center display.
The message may be shown along with graphics,symbols or buttons to e.g. acknowledge the mes-sage or accept a request.

Messages in the instrument panel are controlledusing the right-side steering wheel keypad.
Examples of messages in the instrument panel and theright-side steering wheel keypad.

Some messages in the instrument panel containone or more buttons for e.g. confirming the mes-sage or accepting a request.

Handling new messages
For messages with buttons:
1. Navigate between the buttons by tapping leftor right (1).
2. Confirm your selection by pressing confirm(2).
> The message will disappear from theinstrument panel.
For messages without buttons:
–Close the message by pressing confirm (2)or let the message automatically time-outafter a short period.
>The message will disappear from theinstrument panel.
Messages that need to be saved are stored inthe Car Status app, which can be opened fromthe App view in the center display. The messageVehicle message stored in Car Status appwill simultaneously appear in the center display.

Handling messages saved from theinstrument panel
Messages saved from the instrument panel andcenter displays are handled in the center display.
Saved messages can be viewed in the Car Status app.
The messages displayed in theinstrument panel that need tobe saved are stored in the CarStatus app in the center dis-play. The message Vehiclemessage stored in CarStatus app will simultaneouslyappear in the center display.

Reading saved messages
To read a saved message immediately:
–Tap the button to the right of the messageVehicle message stored in Car Statusapp in the center display.
>The saved message will be displayed inthe Car Status app.
To read saved messages at a later time:
1.Open the Car Status app from App view inthe center display.
>The app will open in the bottom tile ofHome view.
2.Select the Messages tab in the app.
>A list of saved messages will be displayed.
3. Tap a message to expand/minimize it.
> More information about the message willappear in the list and the image to the leftof the app will display information aboutthe message in graphic form.

Handling saved messages
In expanded form, some messages have two but-tons available for booking service or reading theOwner's Manual.
Booking service for saved messages:
–With the message in expanded form, tapRequest appoint.Call to make
Appointment4 for assistance booking serv-ice.
>With Request appoint.: TheAppointments tab will open in the appand create a request for a service/repairappointment.
With Call to make Appointment: Thephone app will open and call a servicecenter to make an appointment for serviceor repairs.
Reading the Owner's Manual for saved mes-sages:
–With the message in expanded form, tapOwner's manual to read relevant informa-tion about the message in the Owner's Man-ual.
>The Owner's Manual will open in the cen-ter display and provide information relatedto the message.
Saved messages in the app are automaticallydeleted each time the engine is started.

Center display overview
Many of the vehicle's functions can be con-trolled from the center display. The center dis-play and its possibilities are presented below.

Function view ‒ vehicle functions that can beactivated or deactivated with one tap. Certainfunctions, called "trigger functions", openwindows with settings options. One exampleis the Camera. Settings for the head-up dis-play* are also started from Function view, but

adjusted using the right-side steering wheelkeypad.
Home view ‒ the initial view displayed whenthe screen is turned on.
App view ‒ shows downloaded apps (third-party apps) as well as apps for integratedfunctions, such as FM radio. Tap an app iconto open that app.
Status bar ‒ current vehicle activities areshown at the top of the screen. Network andconnection information is shown to the left ofthe status bar. Media-related information, theclock and information about backgroundactivities are shown to the right.
Top view ‒ pull the tab down to open Topview. From here, you can access Settings,Owner's manual, Profile and messagesstored in the vehicle. In certain cases, con-textual setting (e.g. Navigation Settings)and the contextual Owner's Manual (e.g.Navigation Manual) can also be accessedin Top view.
Navigation ‒ takes you to map navigationwith e.g. Sensus Navigation*. Tap the tile toexpand it.
Media ‒ most recently used media-relatedapps. Tap the tile to expand it.
Phone ‒ used to access phone-related func-tions. Tap the tile to expand it.
Fourth tile ‒ most recently used apps orvehicle functions not associated with theother tiles. Tap the tile to expand it.
Climate row - information and direct interac-tion to set temperature and seat heating forexample*. Tap the symbol in the center of theclimate bar to open Climate view and addi-tional setting options.

Handling the center display
Many of the vehicle's functions and features canbe controlled and adjusted from the center dis-play. The center display is a touchscreen thatreacts to taps and other gestures.

Using the center display's touchscreen
The touchscreen reacts differently depending onwhether the user taps, drags or swipes thescreen. It is possible to e.g. move between differ-
ent views, mark objects, scroll in a list and moveapps by touching the screen in various ways.
An infrared light curtain just above the surface ofthe screen enables the screen to detect when afinger is directly in front of the screen. This tech-nology makes it possible to use the screen evenwhile wearing gloves.
Two people can interact with the screen at thesame time, e.g. to adjust climate system settingsfor both the driver and passenger sides.
CAUTION
Do not use sharp objects on the screen asthis could cause scratches.
The following table presents the various proce-dures for using the screen:

Press and hold. Grabs hold of an object so it can be moved. Can be used to move apps or points on a map. Press and hold yourfinger on the screen and drag the object to the desired position.
