Dispose ofthegenuine Mercedes-Benz interiorperfumeflacon when it is empty and do notrefillit.
Refillable flacon
Unscrewthe cap ofthe emptyflacon.
Filltheflacon with a maximum of 0.5fl. oz.(15 ml).
Screwthe cap back ontotheflacon.
Alwaysrefillthe emptyrefillableflacon withthesame perfume. Observethe separate informa‐tion sheet withtheflacon.
Airvents
Adjusting the front airvents
\nWARNING‑ Danger of burns or frostbiteduetobeingtoo closetothe airvents
Veryhot orverycold air canflowfromthe airvents.
This couldresult in burns or frostbite intheimmediate vicinity ofthe airvents.

Make surethat allvehicle occupantsalways maintain a sufficient distancetothe airvents.
If necessary, directthe airflowtoanother area ofthevehicle interior.
Toguaranteetheflowof fresh airthroughthe airvents intothevehicle interior, comply withthefollowing:
RAlwayskeepthevents andtheventilationgrille inthevehicle interior free.
RKeepthe air inlet free of deposits(→page 355).
Toopen or close:turnthe center of airvent1tothe left orright asfar as it will go.
Toadjustthe air direction:hold airvent1inthe center and moveit up or down ortothe left orright.
Adjusting therear airvents
Toopen or close:hold airvent1inthecenter and turn ittothe left (open) orright(closed) asfar as it will go.
Toadjustthe air direction:hold airvent1inthe center and moveit up or down ortothe left orright.
Opening or closingthe airvent intheglovebox
NOTEDamageto temperature-sensitiveobjects intheglovebox
Temperature-sensitive objectsstored intheglovebox may be damagedbythe airventlocated inside it.
Closethe airvent whenyou heatthevehicle.
Athigh outsidetemperatures, opentheairvent and switch onthe A/C func‐tion.
The automatic climate control must be switchedontocooltheglovebox.

Adjusting the AIRSCARFvents
\nWARNINGRisk of burns causedbytheheating output from AIRSCARF beingtoohigh
When AIRSCARF is switched on,veryhot aircanflowfromthe outlet opening inthe headrestraints.
This couldresult in burns inthe immediatevicinity ofthe outlet opening.
Turnthe heating output down in goodtime.
Maintain a suitable distance fromtheoutlet opening.
NOTEDamagecausedtoAIRSCARFbythe use of protective covers
If a protective cover is placedoverthe frontseat headrestraints,theflowof air fromtheAIRSCARFvent is hindered.
This can cause AIRSCARFtooverheat and bedamaged.
Do not use protective coverson headrestraints with AIRSCARF.
Make surethatthere are no objects coveringtheintakegrille onthe back ofthe headrestraint.
You can adjustthe blower output of AIR‐SCARFvents1usingthe AIRSCARF button(→page97).
Adjustthe height of AIRSCARFvents1andthe current of airbyadjustingthe height ofthe headrestraint (→page 92).

Flammable materials brought inbyeither ani‐mals or environmental influences may igniteiftheycome into contact withhot parts ofthe engine orexhaust system.
Therefore,checkregularlythatthereare noflammable materials intheengine compartment or ontheexhaustsystem.
Requirements:RThe SmartKeyis located inthevehicle andthe SmartKeybattery is not discharged.

Toswitch onthe power supply:press but‐ton1once.You can activatethe windshield wipers,forexample.
The power supplyis switched off again ifthefol‐lowing conditions are met:
RYou openthe driver's door
RYou press button1twice.
Toswitch onthe ignition:press button1twice.The indicator lamps inthe instrument clusterlight up.
The ignition is switched off again if one ofthefollowing conditions is met:
RYou do notstartthevehicle within15minutes andthe transmission is in posi‐tion]orthe electric parking brake isapplied.
RYou press button1once.
Startingthevehicle
Startingthevehicle withthestart/stop but‐ton
Requirements:RThe SmartKeyis located inthevehicle andthe SmartKeybattery is not discharged.
Shiftthe transmissiontoposition]or\\.
Depressthe brake pedal and press button1once.
Ifthevehicle does notstart:switch off non-essential consumers and press button1once.
Ifthevehiclestill does notstart andthePlace the Key in the Marked Space SeeOperator's Manualdisplay message alsoappears inthe multifunction display:startthevehicle in emergency operation mode.
You can switchoffthe engine while drivingbypressing button1for aboutthree seconds. Besuretoobservethe safety notes under "Drivingtips".
Startingthevehicle in emergency operationmodeIfthevehicle does notstart andthePlace theKey in the Marked Space See Operator's Manualmessage appears inthe multifunction display,you canstartthevehicle in emergency operationmode.

RemoveSmartKey1fromthekeyring.
Place SmartKey1in marked space2.Thevehicle willstart after a short time.
IfyouremoveSmartKey1from markedspace2the engine continuesrunning.Forfurthervehiclestarts however,SmartKey1must be located in marked space2duringthe entire journey.
Havethe SmartKey1checked at aqualifiedspecialistworkshop.
Ifthevehicle does notstart:
Place SmartKey1in marked space2andleaveitthere.
Depressthe brake pedal andstartthevehicleusingthestart/stop button.
You can also switchonthe power supplyorthe ignition withthestart/stop button.
Startingthevehicle viaRemoteOnline serv‐ices
Cooling or heatingthevehicle interior beforecommencingyour journey
This function is notavailable in all countries.
Ifyoustartthevehicle viayour smartphone,thepreviously selected air conditioning adjustmentis active.
Ensurethefollowing beforestartingthe engine:
RThe legalstipulations inthe area whereyourvehicle is parked allow enginestarting viasmartphone.
RIt is safetostart andrunthe engine whereyourvehicle is parked.
RThe fueltank is sufficientlyfilled.
RThestarter battery is sufficientlycharged.

Limbs could be crushed or trapped iftheengine isstarted unintentionally duringservice or maintenancework.
Always securethe engine against unin‐tentionalstarting before carrying outmaintenance orrepairwork.
Requirements:RParkposition]is selected.
RThe anti-theft alarm system is not activated.
RThe panic alarm is not activated.
RThe hazardwarning lights are switched off.
RThe hood is closed.
RThe doors are closed and locked.
RThe windowsand sliding sunroof are closed.
Startthevehicle usingthe smartphone:
RAftereveryvehiclestart,the enginerunsforten minutes.
RYou can carryout a maximum of two consec‐utivestarting attempts. Thevehicle must bestarted once withthe SmartKeybefore tryingtostartthevehicle again withthe smart‐phone.
RYou canstopthevehicle again at any time.

Always installthefloor mats securelyand as prescribed in ordertoensurethatthere is always sufficientroomforthe pedals.
Do not use loosefloor mats and do notplacefloor mats ontop of one another.

Operation ofthe pedals may berestrictedduetounsuitablefootwear such as:
RShoes with platformsoles
RShoes with high heels
RSlippers
When driving alwayswear suitableshoes in ordertobe abletooperatethepedals safely.
\nWARNINGRisk of accident when switch‐ing offthe ignition when driving
Ifyou switchoffthe ignition while driving,safety functions arerestricted or no longeravailable. This may affectthe powersteeringsystem andthe brakeforce boosting,forexample.
You willthen needtouse considerably moreforcetosteer and brake.
Do not switch offthe ignition while driv‐ing.
