When you return the seatback to itsupriþht position, hold the seatbackand return it slowly and be surethere are no other occupants aroundthe seat. Iý the seatback is returnedwithout beinþ held and controlled,the back oý the seat could sprinþýorward resultinþ in accidental injuryto a person struck by the seatback.

nDriver responsibility ýor pas‐senþers
Ridinþ in a vehicle with the seatbackreclined could lead to serious or ýatalinjury in an accident. Iý a seat is re‐clined durinþ an accident, the occu‐pant’s hips may slide under the lapportion oý the seat belt, applyinþþreat ýorce to the unprotected abdo‐men. Serious or ýatal internal injuriescould result. The driver must advisethe passenþer to keep the seatbackin an upriþht position whenever thevehicle is in motion.
WARNING
Do not use a sittinþ cushion that re‐duces ýriction between the seat andpassenþer. The passenþer's hipsmay slide under the lap portion oýthe seat belt durinþ an accident or asudden stop. Serious or ýatal internalinjuries could result because the seatbelt can't operate normally.

•Never attempt to adjust the seatwhile the vehicle is movinþ. Thiscould result in loss oý control, andan accident causinþ death, seriousinjury, or property damaþe.
•Do not allow anythinþ to interýerewith the normal position oý theseatback. Storinþ items aþainst aseatback or in any other way in‐terýerinþ with proper lockinþ oý aseatback could result in serious orýatal injury in a sudden stop or col‐lision.

•Always drive and ride with yourseatback upriþht and the lap por‐tion oý the seat belt snuþ and lowacross the hips. This is the bestposition to protect you in case oýan accident.
•In order to avoid unnecessary andperhaps severe air baþ injuries, al‐ways sit as ýar back as possibleýrom the steerinþ wheel whilemaintaininþ comýortable control oýthe vehicle. We recommend thatyour chest be at least 250 mm(10 inches) away ýrom the steer‐inþ wheel.

Underno circumstances should carþo bepiled hiþher than the seatbacks.Failure to ýollow these warninþscould result in serious injury ordeath in the event oý a suddenstop, collision or rollover.
•No passenþer should ride in thecarþo area or sit or lie on ýoldedseatbacks while the vehicle ismovinþ. All passenþers must beproperly seated in seats and re‐strained properly while ridinþ.
•When resettinþ the seatback tothe upriþht position, make sure itis securely latched by pushinþ itýorward and backwards.
•To avoid the possibility oý burns,do not remove the carpet in thecarþo area. Emission control devi‐ces beneath this ýloor þeneratehiþh temperatures.

Aýter adjustinþ the seat, alwayscheck that it is securely locked intoplace by attemptinþ to move theseat ýorward or backward withoutusinþ the lock release lever. Suddenor unexpected movement oý thedriver's seat could cause you to losecontrol oý the vehicle resultinþ in anaccident.
