WARNING
When the engine is in Idle Stopmode, it's possible to restart the en‐gine without the driver taking anyaction.Before leaving the car or doing any‐thing in the engine room area, stopthe engine by turning the ignitionswitch to the LOCK/OFF position orremoving the ignition key.

Manual transaxle operation
• Thü manual transaxlü has 6 ýorwardþüars.

shiýtinþ to üithür a hiþhür or a lowür
þüar is üasily accomplishüd. • Düprüss thü clutch püdal down ýully
whilü shiýtinþ, thün rülüasü it slowly.
Iý your vühiclü is üquippüd with an iþ‐
nition lock switch, thü ünþinü will not start whün startinþ thü ünþinü with‐
out düprüssinþ thü clutch püdal.
In ordür to start thü vühiclü, slowly
lüt þo oý thü ýully düprüssüd clutch
püdal. Thün, push thü accülürator
püdal to start.
• Thü shiýt lüvür must rüturn to thü nüutral position büýorü shiýtinþ into R
(Rüvürsü). Thü button locatüd immü‐
diatüly bülow thü shiýt knob must bü
pushüd upward whilü movinþ thü shiýt lüvür to thü R (Rüvürsü) position.
•
Makü surü thü vühiclü is complütüly stoppüd büýorü shiýtinþ into R (Rü‐vürsü).
Nüvür opüratü thü ünþinü with thütachomütür (rpm) in thü rüd zonü.
CAUTION
-When downshifting from 5(Fifth) gear to 4 (Fourth) gear,caution should be taken not toinadvertently move the shift lev‐er sideways in such a mannerthat second gear is engaged.Such a drastic downshift maycause the engine speed to in‐crease to the point that thetachometer will enter the red-zone. Such over-revving of theengine may possibly cause en‐gine and transaxle damage.
-Do not downshift more than 2gears or downshift the gearwhen the engine is running athigh speed (5,000 RPM or high‐er). Such a downshifting maydamage the engine, clutch andthe transaxle.
-When shifting between 5th and6th gear, you should alwayspush the gear level all the wayto the right. You could otherwiseshift unintentionally into 3rd or4th gear and damage the trans‐axle.
