The windsh ie ld may not be treated with wa ­
ter-repelling windshield coating agents. Un ­
favorable conditions such as wetness, dark ­

- Headlights /tail light s
-Never clean headlights or tail lights with a
dry clot h or sponge.
- Do not use any cleaning product that con­
tains alcohol, because they could cause
cracks to form .

- Never use any pa int polish or other abra­
sive materials .

rims such as stone ch ips or scratches must
be repaired immediately .
-Cam era lenses
- Neve r use warm or hot wa ter to remove
snow or ice from the camera lens . This
could ca use the lens to crack .
- Neve r use ab rasive cleaning m ate rials or
a lcohol to clean the camera lens . This
could ca use scratches and cracks .
-Door window s
-Remove snow and ice on windows and ex-
terior mirrors w ith a plast ic scraper . To

avoid scratches, move the scraper on ly in
one direction and not back and forth.
- Never remove snow o r ice from door win­
dows and mirrors using warm or hot water
because this could cause cracks to form .
- To avoid damage to the rear w indow de­
fogger , do not apply any stickers on the
heating wires on the inside of the window .

- Never use chrome care or cleaning prod-
ucts .
-Paint
-To red uce the risk of scratches, the vehicle
must be free of dirt and dus t before pol­
ishing or waxing .

- I f there is damage to the webbing, the

have them replaced by an authorized Audi

Make sure hook and loop fasteners a re
closed.

polish, shoe polish, spot remover or sim i­
lar p roducts.

or rivets on clothing or belts, can cause
damage to the surface.
- Never use steam cleaners, brushes, hard

- To he lp prevent the leather from fad ing,
do not leave the vehicle in d irec t sun light
for long periods of time. If leav ing the ve­
h icl e parked fo r long pe riods of time, you
should cove r th e le athe r to pro te ct it from
dir ect sun light.

- I nsects are easier to remove from paint that
ha s bee n freshly waxe d.
- Regular waxing can prevent rust spots from
forming.
Placing your vehicle out
of service
I f you wo uld like to take your vehi cle out of serv ­
ice for a longer period of time, contact an author ­
i zed Audi dealer or author ized A udi Se rvice Facili ­
ty. They will adv ise you of important measures,
suc h as corrosion protect ion, serv ice and storage

General information
.. Par k the vehicle as far as poss ible from moving
traff ic in the event of a breakdown. In the event
of a flat tire, park the vehicle on a leve l surface .
It you are on a steep hill, be especially careful.
.. Set the parking brake .
.. Switch the emergency flashe rs on .
.. Set up the warn ing triangle C) page 233 .
.. Have the passengers exit the veh icle . They
sho uld move to a safe place, for example be­
hind a guard rail.
_& WARNING
Follow the s teps given above. This is for your
protection and the for the safety of other d riv­
ers .

The warning triangle placed in the vehicle at the
factory is located in the luggage compartment.
.. Turn the twist lock C) fig . 193 and pull the cover
downward to open the cover.
.. Remove the warning triangle from its holder.
The luggage compartment lid is only designed to
hold the warning triangle offered by the Audi
Genu ine Accessories program.

The vehicle tool kit, vehicle ja ck*, tire mobility
ki t* and compressor are stored in the luggage
compartment under the ca rgo floor cover .
.. Lift the cargo floor by the p lastic handle .
.. Turn the handle cou nter- clockwise and remove
the cover or the spare tire *.
A WARNING
Improper use of the vehicle jack can cause se­
rious pe rsonal injuries.
-Never use the screw driver hex head to
tighten wheel bolts, since the bolts cannot
attain the necessary tightening torque if yo u
use the hex head, potentially causing an ac­
cident.
-The factory-supplied jack is intended only
for your vehicle model. Under no circum­ stances shou ld it be used to lift heavy
veh icles o r othe r loads; you risk injuri ng
yourse lf .
-Never start the engine when the vehicle is
raised, which could cause an accident.
-Support the vehicle securely with appropri­
ate stands if wo rk is to be performed under­
neath the vehicle; otherwi se, there is a po­
t ential risk fo r injury .
-Never use the jack supplied with your Aud i
on another vehicle, particularly on a heavier
o n e. Th e jack is o nly sui tab le for u se on the
veh icle i t came wi th.
(D Tips
The vehicle jack* in your vehicle is mainte­
nance-free.

Tire mobility kit
Preparation
Applies to: vehicles with tire mob ility k it
• Read and follow the important safety precau­
tions ¢ page 233, General information.
• Select the P selector lever position .
• Check if a repair with the tire mobility kit is pos ­
sible

Using the tire mobility kit
Applies to : ve hicles w ith tire mob ility k it

The tire repair is only meant for temporary use.
Change the spare tire as soon as
possible ¢& .
If the tire is pierced by an object such as a na il,
do not remove the object from the tire.
The tire mobility kit can be used at temperatures as low as
-4 °F (-20 °C) .
The tire mobility kit may not be used:
-If the tire has cuts or punctures that are larger
than 0 .16 in (4
mm) © ¢fig. 195.
-if the rim is damaged @
- if you drove with very low tire pressure or with-
out air in the tire @
See an autho rized Aud i dealer or authorized Aud i
Service Facility for assistance in these situations.
A WARNING
-Please note that the tire mobility kit cannot
be used in all situations, and that it may on­
ly be used temporarily.
- The tire sealant must not come in contact
with skin, eyes, or clothes.

- If tire sealant gets in your eyes or on your
skin, thoroughly rinse the affected area im­
mediately with clean water .
- Do not inha le the fumes.
- If you swa llow any of the tire sealant, thor-
oughly rinse your mouth immediately and
drink a tot of water. Do not induce vomiting.
Seek medical attention immediately.
- Change your clothes immediately if they get
tire sealant on them.
- If an allergic reaction occurs, seek immedi­
ate medical attention.
- Keep the tire sealant away from children.
- In vehicles with a tire pressure monitoring
system*, using tire sea lant can results in an
incorrect display or a system malfunction. Drive carefully to the nearest authorized
Audi dealer or authorized Audi Service Facili­ ty.
(D Tips
- If sealant leaks, allow it to dry in place. You
can then peel it off like a sticker.
- Note the expiration date on the sea lant bot­
tle. Replace the tire sealant at an author­ ized Audi dealer or authori zed Audi Service
Facility.
- Radio reception can be interrupted when
operating the compressor*.
- Obey all laws.

Repairing tires

.,. Inflate the tire between 29 PSI and 36 PSI (2 .0
and 2.5 bar) and read the tire pressure on the
gauge .
.,. If th is tire pressure is not reached , remove the
filler hose . Drive slowly approximately 33 feet
(10 m) forward or in reverse so that the sealant
can be distributed in the tire . Pump up the tire
aga in ¢ £ .
_&. WARNING
-Read and fo llow the manufacturer's safety
p recautions on the compressor and in the
instr uctions o n the bottle o f sealant .
- If a tire pressure of 29 psi (2.0 bar) canno t
be reached after inflating for six minutes,
then the tire is too severely damaged. Do
not continue driving.
- If the tire cannot be repaired w ith the t ire
sealant, see an authorized Audi dealer or au­
thorized A udi Service Facility for assistance.
(D Tips
Do not operate the compresso r fo r more than
six minutes continuously, or it can overheat .
Once the compressor has cooled, you can con­
tinue to use it.
Completing
Applies to: vehicles with tire mob ility kit
.,. Adhere the sticker that says "max. SO mph
(80 km/h)" that is provided with the t ire mobili­
ty kit within the driver 's fie ld of vision .
.,. Stop the vehicle after dr iving for about 10 mi­
nutes and check the t ire pressure .
.,. If the tire press ure is lower than 19 PSI ( 1.3
ba r) , then the t ire is too seve rely damaged . Do
no t continue dr iv ing .
A WARNING
Pay attention to the following after repairing
the tire:
- Do not drive faster than SO mph (80 km/h) .
- Avoid hard acce lera tion, braking sharply,
and fast cornering .
- The vehicle may become more difficult to
control.

-If the tire is too severely damaged, see an
authorized Aud i dealer or authorized Aud i
Service Facility for assistance.
@ For the sake of the environment
You can give the used tire sealant bottle to an
authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi
Serv ice Facility for disposal.
(D Tips
Remember to obtain a new bottle of sealant
from an authorized Audi dealer or authorized
Audi Serv ice Facility after repairing a tire.
Replacing wheels
Before changing a wheel
Observe the following precautions for your own
and your passenger's safety when changing a
wheel.
.,. After you exper ience a tire fa ilure, pull the car
well away from moving traff ic and try to reach
level ground
before you stop ¢.&, .
.,. All passengers sho uld leave the car and move
to a safe location (for instance, be hind t he
guardrail) ¢.&, .
.. Engage the parking brake to prevent your vehi­
cle from rolling
unintentionally ¢.&, .

.. If you are towing a trailer, unhitch the trailer
from your veh icle .
.,. Take the jack and the spare tire* out of the lug­
gage compartment

You or your passengers could be inju red w hile
chan gin g a wheel if you do not follow these
safety precautions:
- If you have a flat ti re, move a safe d ista nee
off th e road. Turn off the engine, turn the
emergency flashers on and use other warn ­
ing devices to alert other motorists .
- Make sur e that passengers wait in a safe
place away from the vehicle and we ll away
from the road and traffic.

- To help prevent the vehicle from moving
suddenly and possibly s lipping off the jack,
always fully set the parking brake and block
the front and back of the wheel diagonally
opposite the wheel being changed. When
one front wheel is lifted off the ground,
p lacing the Automat ic Transmission in P
(Pa rk) w ill
not prevent the vehicle from
mov ing.
- Before you change a wheel, be sure the
ground is level and firm. If necessary, use a
sturdy board under the jack.
- Always store the vehicle tool kit, the jack
and the replaced tire in the lu ggage com ­
pa rtment

(D Tips
Before changing the wheel, you must activate
the jacking mode, so that the automatic con­
trols for the Adaptive Air Suspension* do not
make it more difficult to lift the vehicle with
the jack

Changing a wheel
When you change a wheel, follow the sequence
described below step-by-step and in exactly that
order .
1. Act ivate the vehicle jack mode* ca> page 238 .
2. Remove the decorative wheel cover* or the
wheel bolt caps*. For more details see also
¢ page 23 7, Decorative wheel covers or
¢ page 237, Wheels with wheel bolt caps.
3. Loosen the wheel bolts ¢ page 238.
4. Locate the proper mounting point for the
jack and alig n the jack below that po int
¢ page 238 .
5. Raise the car with the jack ca> page 238.
6. Remove the wheel with the flat tire and then
install
the spare ca> page 240.
7. T ighten all whee l bolts lightly.
8 .
Lower the vehicle with the jack.
9. Use the wheel bolt wrench and
firmly tighten
all wheel
bolts ¢ page 238.
10. Replace the decorat ive wheel cover* or the
wheel bolt caps*.
11. Deact ivate the vehicle jack mode* in the
MM I:

The vehicle jack mode* swi tches off automatical­
l y at speeds above 6 mph ( 10 km/h).

After changing a wheel
A wheel change is not complete without the do­
ing the following.
.,. Always store the vehicle tool kit, the jack* and
the replaced tire in the luggage compartment
c:> page 134.
... Check the tire p re ssu re on the spare wheel im­
mediately after mounting it.
... As soon as possible, have the tighten ing tor­
que s
on all wheel bolts checked with a torque
wrench. The correct tightening torque is 90 ft
lbs (120 Nm).
.,. Have the flat tire replaced as soon as possib le.
@ Tips
- If you notice t hat the wheel bolts are cor­
roded and diffic ult to turn wh ile changing a
tire, they should be rep laced before yo u
chec k the tightening torque.
- Drive at reduced speed until you have the
tightening torques chec ked.
- After changing a wheel, the tire pressure in
all four tires must be checked/corrected and
the tire pressure mon itor ing indicator must
be stored in the MM I

Decorative wheel covers
Applies to: vehicles with decorative wheel covers
The decorative wheel covers must be removed
first to access the wheel bolts.

Removing

Wheels with wheel bolt caps
Applies to: vehicles with wheel bolts with caps
The caps must be removed first from the wheel
bolts before the bolts can be unscrewed.

Removing

Refitting

Loosening and tightening the wheel bolts
Th e wheel bolts must be loosened b efore raising
the vehicle.

- If a whee l bolt is very tigh t, you m ay fi nd i t
eas ier to loosen by carefully pus hing down

on the end of the whee l bolt wrench with
one foot only. As you do so, ho ld on to the
car to keep your balance and ta ke care not
to slip .
Raising the vehicle
The vehicle must be lifted with the jack first be­
fore the wheel can be removed.
