A side
airbag
and
curtain
airbag
are
designed
to deploy
when
the
vehicle
suf
fers
a moderate
to severe
side
impact
to the
midd
le of the
pas-
senger
compartment.
The
typical
situation
is shown
in the
illustra-
tion.The
seat
belts
in
your
vehicle
are
your
pri-
mary
means
of protection
in an
accident.
The
SRS
(Supplemental
Restraint
System)
side
airbags
and
curtain
airbags
are
designed
to
provide
additional
protection.
Therefore,
for
W
AR
NING
Do
not
put
a hanger
or
any
heavy
or
pointed
object
on
the
coat
hook.
If the
cur
-
tain
airbag
was
activated,
any
such
item
could
be
propelled
away
with
great
for
ce
and
coul
d prevent the
curtain airbag
from
inflating
correctly. Hang
clothe
s directly
on
the
coat
hook
(wi
thout
usi
ng
a hanger)
.
Make
sur
e the
re are no
heavy
or shar
p
objects
in the
poc
kets of clothe
s that
you
hang on the
coat hook.
Never
install
a rear-facing
child restraint
syste
m in the
front
passe
nger
seat.
Rear-
facing
child restraint
syste
ms
MUST
ONLY be use
d in the
rear seat.
Front-facin
g child restraint
systems
shoul
d also
be use
d ONLY in the
rear seat.
If
a front-facing
child
restraint
system
must
be
used
in the
front
passenger
seat,
move
the
seat
as far
back
as possible,
and
make
sur
e that
the
child stays
in the
child
restraint
system,
properly
restrained
and
away
from the
door
.
Do
not
allow
a child to lean
agai
nst
or sit
clos
e to
the passenger
door
, even
if the
child
is seated
in a child
restraint
system.
The child’s head
sho
uld also not
lean
against
or
be
close
to
the
section
of
the
seatback
wher
e the
side
airbag
and
cur
-
tain
airbag
are located.
It is dange
rous
if
the
side airbag
and
curtain
airbag
deploys.
Failur
e to
follow
all
of
these
instructions
could
lead
to serious
injury
or
death to the
child.
Work
done
on

of all occupants,
be
sure to always wear your seat belts properl
y.
In certain
types
of side
collisions,
the
side
air-
bag
and
curtain
airbag
may
not
deploy
, even
if the
deformation
of
the
body
seems
to
be
large,
because
the
vehicle’
s body
structure
is
designed
to absorb
the
impact
and
to deform
in
order
to
help
protect
the
occupants.
Some
typical
situations
where
the
side
airbag
and
curtain
airbag
may
not
deploy
are
shown
in
the illustrations.Because
the
side
airbags
and
curtain
airbags
do
not
protect
the
occupant
in all
types
of side
collisions,
be
sure
to
always
wear
your
seat
belts
properly
.
The
side
airbag
and
curtain
airbag
are
not
designed
to
deploy
in
situations
where
they
cannot
provide
protection
to
the
occupants.
Typical

airbags
cannot
provide
protection
are

Because
the

airbags
do
not
protect
the
occupants

all

collisions,

sure

wiring

situa-
tions

result
in
serious
injury
or
death. Do not modify your
steering
wheel
or
any
other
SRS
component
or
related
vehicle
part.
For
example,
replacement
of
the
steering
wheel,
or
modifications
to
the
front
bumper
or body
structur
e can
advers
ely
affect
SRS
perfor
mance
and
may
lead
to injury
.
If your
vehicle
has
receiv
ed any
damage
,
you
shoul
d have
the
SRS
inspect
ed by
an
authorized
Mitsubishi
Motors
dealer
to
make sur
e it is in pr
oper working order
.
Do
not

lar or center
console.

ck in or damage
to the

pillar

pillar
, or
roof
side
rail
wher
e the
curtain
airbag
is located,
have
the
SRS
inspected
by
an
authorized
Mit-
subishi
Motors
dealer
.
NOTE
When
you
trans
fer
owners
hip
of the
vehicle
to another
person,
we
urge
you
to alert
the
new
owner
that
it is equipped
with
the
SRS
and
refer
that
owner
to the
applicable
sec-
tions i
n this owne
r’s manual.

If you
decide
to junk
or scrap
your
vehicle,
we urge
you
