When
this
light
comes
on,
the
anti-lock
braking
system
is not
functioning
and only the ordinary braking system is functioning.Park
your
vehicle
in a safe
place
and
stop
the
engine.
Test the system as described on page 5-75.
If the light does not go out after the test
, or if it comes on again, we recom-
mend
that
you
have
the
system
checked
at an
authorized

dealer or a repair facility of your choice as soon as possible.

airbag
control
unit
monitors
the
readiness
of the
electronic
parts
of the
system
whenever
the
ignition
switch
is
in
the
“ON”
or
“ST
ART” position.
These
include
all
of
the
items listed above and all related wiring. The
pre-tensioner
seat
belt
system
will
oper
-
ate
only
when
the
ignition
switch
is
in
the
“ON”
or “ST
ART” position.
When
the
seat
belt
pre-tensioners
activate,
some
smoke
is released
and
a loud
noise
will
be
heard.
The
smoke
is not
harmful,
but
care
should
be
taken
not
to intentionally
inhale
it,
as
it may
cause
some
temporary
irritation
to
people with respiratory problems.
The
pre-tensioners
activate
in
the
event
of
a
moderate-to-severe
frontal
or
side
impact,
even
if the
seat
belt
is not
being
worn.
The
seat
belt
pre-tensioners
may
not
activate
in
certain
types
of
collisions,
even
though
the
vehi
cle
may
appea
r to be
severely
damaged.
Such
non-activation
does
not
mean
some-
thing
is wrong
with
the
seat
belt
pre-tensioner
system,
but
rather
that
the
collision
forces
were
not
severe
enough
or
not
of
the
type
to
activate the system.

webbing

cleaned

soap

solvent.

belts
to dry

to retract

bags for the driver and passengers.The
SRS
front
airbags
are
designed
to supple-

the
primary
protection

against

and
chest

The electrolyte level must be between the limits shown on the outside of the battery. Fillit with distilled water as needed. The inside of the battery is divided into several compart- ments. Take the cap off of each compartmentand fill to the mark. Do not fill above the top line because a spill during driving could cause damage.
