unclip the cover.
After carrying out work, take care to refi t
the cover correctly.

The electrical circuit of your ve-
hicle is designed to operate with
standard or optional equipment.
Before installing other electri-
cal equipment or accessories in
your vehicle, consult a PEUGEOT
dealer.
Some electrical accessories or the
way in which they are fi tted may
have an adverse effect on the op-
eration of your vehicle (its elec-
tronic control circuits, the audio
circuit and the electrical charging
circuit).
PEUGEOT declines any respon-
sibility for expenses incurred
through the repair of your vehicle
or for any malfunctions resulting
from the installation of auxiliary
accessories, not supplied and not
recommended by PEUGEOT and
not installed in accordance with
PEUGEOT's instructions, in par-
ticular when the combined con-
sumption of all of the additional
equipment connected exceeds
10 milliamps.
The maxi fuses present provide
additional protection for the elec-
trical systems. Any work on these
fuses must be carried out by a
PEUGEOT dealer.

BATTERY
Operating procedure for recharging
your fl at battery or for starting the engine
from another battery.
To start the vehicle from another
battery:
- Connect the red cable to the positive (+) terminals of the two batteries,
- Connect one end of the green or black cable to the negative (-) termi-
nal of the slave battery,
- Connect the other end of the green or black cable to an earth point on
the broken down vehicle, as far as
possible from the battery (for exam-
ple, right-hand engine mounting),
- Operate the starter, let the engine run,
- Wait for the engine to return to idle, then disconnect the cables.

To charge the battery using a battery
charger:
- Disconnect the battery,
- Follow the instructions for use given by the battery charger manufacturer,
- Reconnect starting with the nega- tive (-) terminal,
- Check that the terminals and connec- tors are clean. If they are covered with
sulphate (white or greenish deposit),
disconnect them and clean them.
It is advisable to disconnect the bat-
tery if the vehicle is not to be used for
a period of more than one month.
- Wait for 2 minutes after switch-
ing off the ignition before dis-
connecting the battery.
- Never disconnect a terminal when the engine is running.
- Never charge a battery without fi rst disconnecting the terminals.
- Close the windows before dis- connecting the battery.
- After every reconnection of the battery, switch on the ignition
and wait 1 minute before start-
ing to allow the electronic sys-
tems to be initialised. If slight
diffi culties are experienced
after this, please consult a
PEUGEOT dealer.

ECONOMY MODE FUNCTION
After the engine has stopped, with the
key in the accessories position, certain
functions (windscreen wiper, courtesy
lamps, audio equipment, dipped beam
headlamps, etc.) can only be used for
a maximum cumulative duration of ap-
proximately fi fteen minutes, to prevent
discharging of the battery.
Once the fi fteen minutes are over, the
message "Economy mode active" ap-
pears on the multifunction screen and
the active functions are put on standby.
These functions will be reactivated au-
tomatically the next time the vehicle is
used.
To resume the use of these functions
immediately, start the engine and let it
run for a few minutes.
The time available will then be double
the time for which the engine is left run-
ning. However, this time will always be
between fi ve and fi fteen minutes.
A fl at battery will prevent the
engine from starting.
TOWING THE VEHICLE
Procedure for having your vehicle
towed.
Towing your vehicle

 On the front bumper, unclip the cover
to gain access to the towing eye.

 Switch on the hazard warning lamps
on the towed vehicle.

 Place the gear lever in neutral. Towing another vehicle

TOWING A TRAILER,
A CARAVAN, ETC.
Your vehicle is primarily designed for
transporting people and luggage, but it
may also be used for towing a trailer. Driving advice
In the case of vehicles equipped with
an HDI engine, it is recommended that
the engine is left running at idle for ap-
proximately 20 seconds after intensive
use (towing on a motorway, prolonged
driving, …) before the ignition is switched
off. This limits increases in the tempera-
ture of the engine after it is switched off.

Note: in certain cases of particularly ar-
duous use (towing the maximum load
in high temperatures), the engine lim-
its its power automatically. In this case,
switching off the air conditioning will
regain engine power and therefore in-
crease the towing capacity.
In all cases, pay attention to the coolant
temperature.
Distribution of loads

 Distribute the load in the trailer so
that the heaviest items are as close
as possible to the axle and the nose
weight approaches the maximum
permitted without exceeding it.
Air density decreases with altitude, thus
reducing engine performance. Above
1 000 metres, the maximum towing load
must be reduced by 10 % and so on for
every 1 000 metres of altitude.
Refer to the "Technical Data" section for
details of the weights and towing loads
which apply to your vehicle.
Side wind

 Take into account the increased
sensitivity to side wind. Braking
Towing a trailer increases the braking
distance.
Tyres

 Check the tyre pressures of the
towing vehicle and of the trailer,
observing the recommended pres-
sures.
Lighting

 Check the electrical lighting and
signalling on the trailer.
 If the warning lamp and the

STOP warning lamp come
on, stop the vehicle and
switch off the engine as
soon as possible.
Towbar suited to the attachment of a
trailer or caravan with additional signal-
ling and lighting.
Cooling
Towing a trailer on a slope increases
the temperature of the coolant.
As the fan is electrically controlled, its
cooling capacity is not dependent on
the engine speed.

 To lower the engine speed, reduce
your speed.
We recommend the use of original
PEUGEOT towbars and their har-
nesses that have been tested and
approved from the design stage of
your vehicle and that the fi tting of the
towbar is entrusted to a PEUGEOT
dealer.
If the trailer is not fi tted by a PEUGEOT
dealer, it is imperative that it is fi tted
using the electrical pre-equipment
installed at the rear of the vehicle, in
accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions.
Driving with a trailer subjects the towing
vehicle to more signifi cant stress and its
driver must be particularly careful.

These accessories and parts have been
tested and approved for reliability and
safety.
They are all adapted to your vehicle and
benefi t from PEUGEOT's recommenda-
tion and warranty.

"Protection":
mats * , seat covers, boot tray, passenger

under shelf storage (saloon), booster
seat and child seats, sun blinds, …
For leisure pursuits: roof bars, roof
boxes, ski carrier, bicycle carrier ** ,
show chains, …

"Multimedia":
audio/telephone, Bluetooth hands-free
system, satellite navigation system, au-
dio equipment, speakers, …
The fi tting of electrical equipment
or accessories which are not rec-
ommended by PEUGEOT may
result in a failure of your vehicle's
electronic system.
Please note this specifi c warn-
ing. You are advised to contact a
representative of the PEUGEOT
marque to be shown the range
of recommended equipment and
accessories.
Depending on the country in which
the vehicle is sold, it is compulsory
to have a high visibility vest, warn-
ing triangle and spare bulbs avail-
able in the vehicle.

"Styling":
alloy wheels, sunroof *** , front foglamps,
mud fl aps, tailgate spoiler (saloon),
door sills, body kit, leather steering
wheel, …

"Boutique":
screenwash, interior and exterior main-
tenance and cleaning products. Conversion kits
You can obtain an "Enterprise" kit to
convert a trade vehicle to a private car
and vice-versa.
* To avoid any risk of jamming of the
pedals:
- ensure that the mat is positioned and secured correctly,
- never fi t one mat on top of another.
** Do not fi t the bicycle carrier on the spoiler or on the rear screen.
*** When fi tting a sunroof, it is essential that only genuine PEUGEOT prod-
ucts are used.

FITTING AUDIO EQUIPMENT
Your vehicle is equipped with certain
factory-fi tted audio equipment:
- roof aerial
- coaxial cable,
- basic interference suppression,
- wiring to front speakers,
- two 8-way connectors.
FITTING SPEAKERS
It is possible to fi t:
- 165 mm diameter speakers in the front doors,
- 130 mm diameter speakers in the rear doors,
- 22.5 mm diameter tweeters in the mirror trims.
