VEHICLE QUIESCENT CURRENT TESTING
• NOTE: On vehicles fit t ed wit h a Bat tery Monit oring Sys t em (BMS), t he diagnos t ic routi ne for quies cent drai n t es t ing i nt he approved di agnos ti c s ys t em s hould be ut il ized.
• NOTE: If a cus t omer compl ains of a vehicle bat tery that dis charges cont inuousl y or when left for a prolonged period oft ime, it is recommended t hat a quies cent drai n tes t i s performed as des cribed below.
• NOTE: The batt ery drain s hould be meas ured usi ng an approved diagnos t ic s ys tem or a Digi tal Mult i-Meter (DVOM).
The vehi cl e s houl d be i n t he locked/armed st ate (for example vehi cl e alarm full y armed), al l doors , engine and luggagecompartment l ids are open and lat ched (s o as t o appear clos ed from an electrical point of view). The t es t s houl d t akeplace aft er the vehicle has ent ered s hutdown mode. The t ime taken for this to occur after t he igni ti on is s wi tched offvaries according t o model - Refer t o Quies cent Drain in s ecti on 414-00 of the W orks hop Manual .
• NOTE: W hen t he vehicle i s armed, t he effect of t he s ecurit y s ys t em Li ght Emi tt ing Diode (LED) flas hing i s to caus e apuls ati on in the meas ured current drain. In t hi s case, eit her the average current should be taken (usi ng a Di gi tal Mul ti -Meter (DVOM) wi th an averagi ng s ys t em) or the current reading t aken, ignori ng t he bri ef hi gh current peaks .
EQUIPMENT

METHOD OF MEASUREMENT
Using an Approved Diagnostic System
1. Swit ch off all elect rical loads and ensure t hat t he i gni ti on is off.
2. Connect the current probe t o t he approved di agnos ti c s yst em.
3. Calibrate t he probe.
4. Ins t al l a clamp around the bat tery lead/junct ion box l ead.
5. Go t o t he Quies cent Current Tes t ing s ect ion.
Using a Digital Multi-Meter (DVOM)
• NOTE: Do not us e an i n-li ne DVOM to meas ure the qui escent drain on vehi cl es fi tt ed wi th an el ect roni c throt t le. Thecurrent exceeds t he maximum amount the fus e in the DVOM is capable of handling.
1. Swit ch off all elect rical loads and ensure t hat t he i gni ti on is off.
2. Connect the current probe t o t he DVOM.
3. Calibrate t he probe.
4. Ins t al l a clamp around the bat tery lead/junct ion box l ead.
5. Go t o t he fol lowing Qui escent Current Tes ti ng s ect ion.
QUIESCENT CU RRENT TESTING
1. Swit ch ignit ion t o ‘on’ or s elect ignit ion mode i n keyles s vehi cl es and s wit ch to ‘off’ (do not crank).
2. Remove key from i gni ti on s wit ch (where appl icabl e).
3. Open and lat ch all doors , hood and l uggage compart ment li d.
4. Lock t he vehi cle us ing t he remote funct ion on the remote hands et. (Single lock onl y t o avoi d volumet ri c alarm arming).
5. Remove any ot her pot enti al el ect ri cal drai ns such as acces s ori es plugged into acces sory s ockets .
6. Record the amperage readings after t he shut down period. The model specific Amperage readings for quies cent drain arereferenced in Qui escent Drain in secti on 414-00 of t he W orks hop Manual
7. Record the fi nal readi ng on the bat tery report form Appendi x B.
• NOTE: The preferred method of t est ing foll owing an exces s ive current cons umpti on fi gure i s t o use a current probearound i ndi vi dual junct ion box l eads t o t he various s us pect ed ci rcuit s t o ident ify a potent ial caus e. Thi s is in preference t ot he old met hod of removing fus es for t he fol lowing reasons :
Many modules t ake a cons i derabl e t ime to power down. Each t ime a fuse is removed and re-fi tt ed, t he quies centdrai n current may t ake an extended peri od of ti me t o ret urn to normal (t ypi cal ly up to 45 minut es ).The drai n may be caused by a module remaini ng act ive and prevent ing t he quies cent drai n from reduci ng to normallevels .The drai n may be caused by a rel ay winding that is act ivated. Thi s prevents fals ealarm acti vat ion because the i ntrusi on detecti on module cannot operat e correct ly below 9 volt s .On vehicles fit ted wit h a bat tery backed s ounder, i f the vehicl e batt ery volt age decreas es from 9.5 t o 9 vol ts inmore than a 30 mi nut e peri od, t he CJB de-acti vat es t he batt ery backed sounder and, if requi red, wil l use thevehi cl e horns t o s ound an audible al arm t rigger warni ng. This prevent s fal s e alarm acti vat ion. At volt ages below 9volt s, t he CJB wil l not generat e t he 'heart beat ' si gnal t o t he batt ery backed sounder. The batt ery backed sounderint erpret s t his as t he CJB has been tampered wit h and acti vat es it s s ounder. Alarm
W hen t he alarm i s t ri ggered, t he CJB act ivat es audi bl e and vis ual warnings . The audible warnings are produced by t hevehi cl e's horns or t he batt ery backed s ounder. Vi si ble i ndi cat ions are produced us i ng the t urn si gnal i ndi cat ors .
The CJB act ivat es the vehicle horns or bat t ery backed s ounder and t he vis ual indicati ons for 30 s econds. The act ivati on iss topped for 5 seconds and, i f the al arm trigger is s t ill present , the CJB wi ll cycl e agai n for 30 seconds (60 s econds i ncert ai n market s ). This will be repeat ed for up to a maximum of 10 cycles (3 cycles in certai n market s) of 30 seconds (60s econds in certai n market s) for any one armi ng period. The CJB wi ll de-acti vat e t he alarm i f the 10 cycles (3 cycl es incert ai n market s ) have been complet ed and the al arm t rigger is st il l pres ent or unti l it recei ves a dis arm s ignal .

W hen t he CJB arms the act ive anti -t heft s ys tem, i n eit her t he peri meter mode or t he volumet ri c mode, t he CJB s ends anarming s ignal to the bat tery backed s ounder on t he LIN bus . W hen the s ys tem is armed i n the vol umetric mode, t he CJBals o s ends an arming s ignal to the t il t s ens or (i f fi tt ed).
• NOTE: If a batt ery backed sounder is fit ted, it i s als o armed wi th the perimet er mode lock request .
On recei pt of t he arming s ignals , t he s ounder and the ti lt s ens or res pond wit h a st atus mess age. If t he CJB does notreceive t he s tat us s ignals wi thi n 12 s econds , the CJB as s umes there is a fault and res ponds wi th a dis arm s ignal to ei thert he sounder and/or the t il t s ens or and s tores a rel at ed faul t code. If the s ounder is dis armed when the act ive anti -t hefts ys t em i s armed and the sys tem is subs equent ly t ri ggered, t he CJB energizes t he horn relay and us es the vehicl e horns t os ound the audible warning in pl ace of t he s ounder.
W hen t he s ounder is armed, t he CJB sends a periodic (heartbeat ) si gnal t o t he s ounder which prompt s t he s ounder tomonit or the vehicle bat t ery s uppl y and t he LIN bus link wit h the CJB. The s ounder wil l operate if:

it recei ves an alarm s ignal from t he CJB or the t il t s ens ort he power s upply or t he LIN bus link t o t he CJB is dis rupted.

If t he vehi cl e angle changes i n eit her di recti on by more t han the al armli mit , t he ti lt s ensor acti vat es t he s ounder.
If the al arm sys tem is act ive and t he batt ery or t he batt ery backed sounder is di sconnect ed, t he s ounder wil l operatewit hout the vi sual indicati on of the turn s ignal i ndicat ors fl as hing.
Global Open/Close

Single Point Entry

If the vehicle is double l ocked, the firs t pres s of the unlock butt on on t he remote hands et unl ocks t he dri ver's door and theli ft gate. The remai ning doors revert t o the si ngl e l ocked s tat e and can t herefore be unlocked us ing the i nteri or doorhandl es, t he remot e handset unlock butt on or t he unl ock swi tch on the i nst rument panel swi tchpack.
Changi ng from central locki ng to si ngle point ent ry can be carried out by pres s ing the l ock and unlock butt ons on t heremot e handset s imult aneousl y. The turn s ignal i ndicat ors wil l flas h t o confirm that t he functi on change has beenperformed.
Drive Away Locking
The dri ve away door l ocking feature locks the doors and the lift gat e i f they are unlocked when t he vehi cle reaches a cert ains peed.
On vehicles wi th aut omat ic t rans mis s ion, wit h al l t he doors , li ft gate and hood clos ed and t he gear s elector not in 'P' Parkor 'N' Neutral pos it ion, if t he CJB detects , via a high s peed CAN mes s age from t he Ant i-lock Brake Syst em (ABS) module,t hat t he vehi cle s peed is more t han 7 km/h (5 mph), the doors wil l aut omati cal ly l ock.
On vehicles wi th manual t rans mis s ion, wi th al l the doors , l ift gate and hood cl os ed, if t he CJB detects , via a high s peedCAN mes s age from t he ABS modul e, t hat the vehicle speed i s more than 7 km/h (5 mph), t he doors wi ll automat ically lock.

Pani c Alarm

Liftgate Release
A l iftgat e rel eas e but ton can pres s ed t o unlock and rel eas e t he li ft gate latch only. This will operat e wi th the vehicle lockedand alarmed or unl ocked. If t he vehicle i s locked and alarmed, when t he l iftgate releas e butt on i s pres s ed, t he li ft gate canbe opened wit hout t ri ggering t he alarm s ys tem. W hen the liftgat e is subs equent ly clos ed, the al arm wil l be re-act ivated.
Headlamp Convenience
A headlamp conveni ence but ton can be press ed t o operat e the headlamps to as s is t departure or approach to the vehicle. As ingle press of the but ton wi ll operat e the headlamps for approxi mat el y 25 s econds , aft er whi ch ti me t hey wil lautomat ically turn off. A s econd press of t he butt on wi ll t urn off the headlamps i f the 25 second period has not beenreached. The front LH exterior door handleincorporates a mechanical operated door lock that i s conceal ed behind a removable plas ti c cover. The door lock all ows thefront LH door to be mechanicall y unlocked and locked us ing t he emergency key blade in the event that the remote cent rallocki ng operation fai ls, or a vehicl e power fai lure occurs.

A mechanicall y operated safety hook i s i ns talled at the front center of t he hood. The safety hook prevent s t he hood fromfully opening in the event t hat the hood latches are open, and the vehicle is in motion. The safety hook i s s pring operatedto bi as the hook t o t he l atched posi tion, and is formed wit h a lever plat e. The lever must be press ed to release the safetyhook from t he mating lat ch plat e when t he hood is to be full y opened.

Hood Ajar Switch
The RH hood lat ch incorporat es the hood ajar s wi tch t hat is hardwired t o t he CJB. If t he i gniti on is in power modes 4(Acces sory) or 6 (Ignit ion) and the hood is opened or is not ful ly closed, t he hood ajar switch is opened t o dis connect theground from t he CJB. A mess age i s trans mitt ed by t he CJB via the medi um s peed CAN bus t o the i ns trument clust er, toinform the dri ver t hat the hood is ajar.

Liftgate Ajar Switch
The lift gate latch als o incorporates the l ift gate ajar swit ch that i s hardwired to the CJB. If t he igni tion is in power modes 4(Acces sory) or 6 (Ignit ion) and the l ift gate is opened or is not ful ly cl os ed, t he li ftgat e ajar swit ch is opened t o dis connectthe ground from the CJB. A mes sage i s t rans mi tted by t he CJB vi a t he medium s peed CAN bus t o t he inst rument cluster, toinform the dri ver t hat the l ift gate is ajar.
