RDS (Radio Data System)
Your audio system is equipped with Radio
Data System (RDS). RDS station providing
good reception is automatically selected if
current reception worsens.
The ªRDSº button turns the RDS on and
off. This button is operational except in
AM mode.
To turn on the RDS, push and hold this
button until you hear a beep and ªRDSº
will appear on the display. At this time,
the radio starts to search the RDS sta-
tions and ªRDS SEARCHº will flash on the
display.
Quickly push and release this button when
the RDS turns on, the radio starts to
search the RDS stations and ªRDS
SEARCHº will flash on the display.
When the RDS stations are found,
ªFOUNDº and the number of the RDS sta-
tions will appear on the display, and you
will hear two beeps. The stations will be
preset to the preset buttons.
If the RDS stations can not be found, ªNO
RDS STº will appear on the display and
you will hear a beep, and the display
returns to the previous mode.
To turn the RDS off, push the button until
you hear a beep again.RPT (Repeat)
Cassette player
Push ªRPTº (preset button 2) while the
track is playing. ª
º will appear on
the display. When the track ends, it will
automatically rewind and replay. To turn
off the repeat feature, push this button
again.
There must be at least 3 seconds of blank
space between tracks in order for the re-
peat feature to work correctly.
Compact disc player
There are two repeat featuresÐYou can
either replay a disc track or a whole com-
pact disc.
Repeating a track:
Quickly push and release ªRPTº (preset
button 2) while the track is playing.
ª
º will appear on the display. When
the track ends, it will automatically replay.
To turn off the repeat feature, push this
button again.Repeating a disc:
Push and hold ªRPTº (preset button 2)
until you hear a beep. ª
º will ap-
pear on the display. The player will repeat
all the tracks on the disc you are listening
to. When the disc ends, the player will
automatically go back to the first track on
the disc and replay. To turn off the repeat
feature, push this button again.
SCAN
Radio
You can either scan all the frequencies on
a band or scan only the preset stations
for that band.
To scan the preset stations:
Push and hold the ªSCANº button until
you hear a beep. The radio will tune in
the next preset station up the band, stay
there for 5 seconds, and then move to the
next preset station. To stop scanning,
push this button again.
To scan all the frequencies:
Quickly push and release the ªSCANº but-
ton. The radio will find the next station up
the station band, stay there for 5 seconds,
and then scan again to the next station.
To stop scanning, push this button again.

1. Volume control switch
Push ª+º to increase the volume. The vol-
ume continues to increase while the
switch is being pushed.
Push ª±º to decrease the volume. The
volume continues to decrease while the
switch is being pushed.
2. ªº switch
Radio
This switch has the following featuresÐ
To select a preset station:
Quickly push and release the ªº or ªº
side of the switch. Do this again to select
the next preset station.
To seek a station:
Push and hold the ªº or ªº side of the
switch until you hear a beep. Do this
again to find the next station. If you push
the switch on either side during the seek
mode, seeking will be cancelled.
Cassette player
This switch has the following featuresÐ
To skip to a different track in either direc-
tion:
Quickly push and release the ªº or ªº
side of the switch. ªFF 1º or ªREW 1º will
appear on the display.Next, push either side of the track switch
until the track you want to listen to is set.
If you push the switch ten times, the skip
function will turn off. (You can skip up to
nine tracks at a time.)
When counting the number of the tracks
you want to rewind, remember to count
the current track as well. For example, if
you want to rewind to a song that is two
tracks before the song you are listening
to, push the ªº side of the switch three
times.
If you push the track switch further than
you wanted to, push the other side of the
switch. The track number will be in-
creased or reduced.
The track number you select is not valid
if it is higher than the number of the
tracks remaining on the current side of
the cassette.
When the tape reaches to the begin-
ning, the player will automatically start
playing that side.
After the tape reaches to the end, the
player will automatically reverse and
start playing the other side.There must be at least 3 seconds of blank
space between tracks for the track switch
to work correctly. In addition, the feature
may not work well with some spoken, live,
or classical recordings.
To fast forward or reverse:
Push and hold the ªº side of the switch
to fast forward a cassette tape. ªFFº will
appear on the display. Push and hold the
ªº side of the switch to rewind a tape.
ªREWº will appear on the display.
To stop the tape while it is fast forward-
ing, push the ªº side of the switch. To
stop the tape while it is rewinding, push
the ªº side of the switch.
If a tape rewinds completely, the cassette
player will stop and then play that same
side. If a tape fast forwards completely,
the cassette will play the other side of the
tape using the auto±reverse feature.
Compact disc player
Use this switch to skip up or down to a
different track in either direction.
Quickly push and release the ªº or ªº
side of the switch until the track you want
to listen to is set. If you want to return
to the beginning of the current track, push
the ªº side of the switch once, quickly.

These buttons operate the front audio
system or select the track/chapter
when the DVD player is operated.

These buttons skip directly to a desired
preset station, disc, track or chapter.
3. ªCURSORº button
This button indicates the control
switches on the screen when the DVD
player is operated.
4. Joy stick
This joy stick selects a control switch,
mode switch on the screen or the
menu for the disc.
5. ªENTº button
This button inputs the selected switch
or the selected menu for the disc.
6. ªSOURCEº button
This button turns on the rear seat en-
tertainment system and selects the
mode.
7. ªDISPLAYº button
This button adjusts the color, tone,
contrast and brightness of the screen.

When you select a mode, the screen indi-

Radio
AM mode:
When you select the AM mode, ªAMº will
appear on the screen.
FM mode:
When you select the FM mode, ªFM1º or
ªFM2º will appear on the screen.
Tape mode
ªTAPEº appears on the screen while this
mode is selected.
Compact disc mode
ªCDº appears on the screen while this
mode is selected.
The screen shows the track, or track and
disc number currently being played.
OPERATING FRONT AUDIO SYSTEM
To operate the front audio system, use
the following switches.

1. Outside temperature
The outside temperature display indi-
cates the outside air temperature.
The displayed value is updated every 1
second.
The displayed temperature ranges from
±30C (±22F) up to 50C (122F).
If an abnormality exists in the connection
of the outside air temperature sensor,
ª±±Cº (ª±±Fº) will appear on the display.
If ª±±Cº (ª±±Fº) appears on the display,
contact your Toyota dealer.
There may be a case that ª±±Cº (ª±±Fº)
appears momentarily when the ignition is
quickly turned to ªONº. It is normal if it
goes out soon.
2. Average fuel consumption
(ªAVGº)
Average fuel consumption is calculated
and displayed based on total driving
distance and total fuel consumption
with the engine running.
The displayed value is updated every 1
seconds.
To reset the calculations, return the mode
to ªAVGº and push and hold the ªMODEº
and ªE/Mº button simultaneously for 2 sec-
onds.3. Instantaneous fuel consumption
(ªINSTº)
The instantaneous fuel consumption is
calculated and displayed based on dis-
tance and fuel consumption for 1 sec-
onds with the engine running.
The displayed value is updated every 1
seconds.
Note that an accurate figure may not be
shown in the following cases.
The vehicle is stopped with the engine
running. (The display will indicate the
extremely high fuel consumption.)
The vehicle is driving down a long
slope, applying the engine brake. (The
display will indicate the extremely low
fuel consumption.)
The calculation is reset when the ignition
switch is turned off.
4. Distance to empty
(ªDTEº)
The distance the vehicle can travel with
the remaining fuel is calculated and
displayed based on the quantity of re-
maining fuel and past fuel consumption.
The displayed value is updated every 1
second.Every time you refuel the vehicle, the cal-
culation is reset.
The actual driving range varies with driv-
ing habits and road conditions. If fuel con-
sumption is good, the driving range will be
longer than indicated. If fuel consumption
is poor, the driving range will be shorter
than indicated.

Perform circling calibration just after
you have purchased your Toyota. And
then always perform circling calibration
after the battery has been removed, re-
placed or disconnected.
Do not perform circling calibration of
the compass in a place where the
earth's magnetic field is subject to in-
terference by artificial magnetic fields
(underground parking, under a steel
tower, between buildings, roof parking,
near a crossing, near a large vehicle,
etc.).
During calibration, do not operate elec-
tric systems (moon roof, power win-
dows, etc.) as they may interfere with
the calibration.
CAUTION
When doing the circling calibration,
be sure to secure a wide space,
and watch out for people and ve-
hicles in the neighborhood. Do not
violate any local traffic rules while
performing circling calibration.
Do not adjust the display while the
vehicle is moving. Be sure to adjust
the display only when the vehicle is
stopped.
To reset the hour: Push the ªHº button.
To reset the minutes: Push the ªMº button.
The key must be in the ªACCº or ªONº
position.
If the electrical power source has been
disconnected from the clock, the time dis-
play will automatically be set to 1:00 (one
o'clock).
When the instrument panel lights are
turned on, the brightness of the time in-
