MAINTENANCE SERVICE INFORMATION
LIGHT & HEAVY DUTY SERVICE DEFINITIONS
Maintenance service is recommended at different mileage
intervals based on Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). See appropriate\
SERVICE SCHEDULES article.
Light Duty
Vehicles with GVWR of 8500 lbs. or less.
Heavy Duty
Vehicles with GVWR of 8501 lbs. or more.
SEVERE & NORMAL SERVICE DEFINITIONS
Service is recommended at mileage intervals based on vehicle
operation. Normal Service and Severe Service schedules are based on
the following primary operating conditions:
Normal Service
* Driven More Than 10 Miles Daily
* NO Severe Service Operating Conditions
Severe Service
NOTE: Use the Severe Service schedule if the vehicle to be serviced
is operated under ANY (one or more) of these conditions:
* Frequent Short Trips Of Less than 5 Miles (8 KM)
* Frequent Driving In Dusty Conditions
* Frequent Trailer Towing
* Frequent Idling
* More Than 50% Of Your Driving Is At Sustained High Speeds
During Hot Weather, Above 90
\bF (32\bC)
SERVICE POINT LOCATIONS
CAUTION: DO NOT apply battery voltage to fuel injector for extended
periods, or fuel injector may be damaged.
7) Momentarily touch remaining end of jumper wire to negative
battery terminal in short intervals to energize fuel injector and
release remaining fuel pressure.
8) Remove jumper wires. Reinstall electrical connector and
fuel pump relay. Fuel system components may now be serviced. Cover
fuel lines with shop towel before disconnecting, as some residual fuel
pressure may exist.
9) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTCs) may have been stored in
Powertrain Control Module (PCM) due to the removal of fuel pump relay.\
Using scan tool, clear DTCs from PCM. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS
article for clearing of DTCs.
FUEL LINE DISCONNECT FITTINGS
NOTE: Fuel lines may contain single tab, dual tab or plastic
retainer ring disconnect fitting. See Fig. 24. Determine type
of disconnect fitting used and use proper procedure for
proper disconnect fitting.

( 1) - Approximate quantity listed.
( 2) - Use an API energy conserving engine oil that is certified for
gasoline engines.
( 3) - Add this amount of fluid. Start engine and shift transmission
through all gears and back to Neutral. Add additional fluid to
bring fluid level to the MIN mark on dipstick. Recheck fluid
level with transmission at normal operating temperature. Adjust
fluid level to MAX mark on dipstick. Approximate drain and
refill capacity is 4.0 qts. (3.8L).
( 4) - Quantity may vary by type of oil cooler and oil cooler lines.
( 5) - Use only Mopar power steering fluid. DO NOT use automatic
transmission fluid.
( 6) - Rear differential may be identified by full-floating axles
shafts.
( 7) - Models with Trac-Lok limited slip differential must have 6 ozs.
(.18L) of Mopar Trac-Lok Friction Modifier added if lubricant is\

( 8) - Rear differential may be identified by number of bolts on rear

( 9) - Models with Trac-Lok limited slip differential must have 5 ozs.
