Remove the center rubber strips in the crossrails and
attach the
GM accessory rack to the nut plates provided
through the center slots (four per crossrail).
The tap plates can be moved to accommodate
various
positions by sliding them inside the crossrail to the
desired locations before mounting the accessory rack.
You can adjust the crossrails to handle different sized
laads. Just loosen the slider knobs at tach end af the
crossrail and move them to where you want them Make
sure both sides of the crossrail are even, then tighten
the slider knobs.
Be me the cargo is properly loaded. Follow these guidelines:
Carrying small, heavy loads on the roof is not
recommended.
Tie the load to the moveable tie down (two per each
side of the side rails). Use the crossrails only to keep
the load from sliding.
as far apart as possible. Tie the load to the moveable
tie downs provided in the side rails. Also tie the load
to the bumpers. Do not tie the load so tightly that the
crossrails or side rails are damaged.

Loading cargo that weighs more than 200 lbs.
(91 kg) on the luggage carrier may damage your
vehicle. When you carry large things, never let
them hang over the rear
or the sides of your
vehicle. Load your cargo
so that it rests on the
slats and does not scratch or damage the vehicle.
Put the cargo against the side rails and fasten it
securely to the luggage carrier. Put the main
weight as far forward
as you can.
Don't exceed the maximum vehicle capacity when
loading your vehicle. For more information on vehicle
capacity and loading. see "Loading Your Vehicle"
in
the Index.
To prevent damage or loss of cargo as you're driving.
check now and then to make sure the luggage carrier and
cargo are still securely fastened.
Ashtrays and Cigarette Lighter
To use the lighter, press it in all the way, and let go.
When it's ready, it will pop back by itself.
NOTICE:
Don't hold a cigarette lighter in with your hand
while it
is heating. If you do, it won't be able to
back away from the heating element when it's
ready. That can make it overload, damaging the
lighter and the heating element.
The front ashtray must be completely pulled
out to the
open position before the ashtray cover opens
and
smoking material can be deposited.

I NOTICE:
Don’t put papers and other things that burn into
your ashtray.
If you do, cigarettes or other
smoking materials could set them on
fire
causing damage.
To remove the front ashtray, lift the release tab as high
as possible, then remove the tray.
Four-door vehicles have smaller ashtrays inside the rear
doors. Press
PUSH to turn the ashtray around for use.
Sun Visors
To block out glare, you can swing down the top and
bottom visors.
You can also swing the bottom visor from
side to side. Your visors may have
an extension that can
be pulled out for additional glare protection
and a strap
for holding small items, such as
maps.
Visor Vanity Mirror
Pull the sun visor down and lift the cover to expose the
vanity mirror.
Illuminated Visor Vanity Mirror
(If Equipped)
Pull the sun visor down and lift the mirror cover to turn
on the lamps.

Accessory Power Outlets (If Equipped)
If you have accessory power outlets, you can plug in
auxiliary electrical equipment. The accessory power
outlets are located below the cigarette lighter. Just
pull
down from the top of the door and follow the proper
installation instructions that are included
with any
electrical equipment you install.
These circuits are protected by
a fuse and have
maximum current levels.
I NOTICE:
When using the accessory power outlets, nlaximum
electrical load must not exceed
25 amps. Always
turn
off any electrical equipment when not in use.
Leaving electrical equipment on for extended
periods
will drain your battery.
Sunroof (If Equipped)
Your vehicle may be equipped with a power sliding
sunroof.
Press and release the rear side of the button in
the miniconsole to open the sunroof. You can press the
forward side
of the button to close the sunroof. Once the
sunroof
is closed. press the forward side of the button to
open the sunroof to the vent position.
The sunroof
is also equipped with a sunshade which you
can
pull forw;~rd to block sun rays.

Universal Transmitter (If Equipped)

This transmitter allows you to consolidate the functions
of up to three individual hand-held transmitters. It will
operate garage doors and gates. or with the accessory
package. other devices controlled by I-adio frequency such
as hondoft'ice lighting systems and security systems.
The transmitter
will learn and transmit the frequencies
of most current transmitters and is powered by your
vehicle's battery and charging system.

Programming the Transmitter
Do not LIS~ the transmitter with any garage door opener
that does not have the ”stop and reverse’‘ feature. This
includes any garage door opener model manufactured
before April
1, 1982.

Your vehicle’s engine should be turned off while
programming the transmitter. Follow these steps to
program
up to three channels:
I, If you have not previously programmed a universal
channel, proceed to Step
2. Otherwise, hold down the
two outside buttons on the universal transmitter
until
the red light begins to flash rapidly (approximately
20 seconds). Then rekase the buttons. This procedure
initializes the memory and erases any previous
settings for all three channels.
2. Hold the end of the hand-held transmitter against the
bottom surface of the ~~niversal transmitter
so that
you can still see the red
light.
3. Decide which one of the three channels you want to
program. Using both hands, press the hand-held
transmitter button and the desired button on the
universal transmitter. Continue
to hold both buttons
through Step
4.

Hold down both buttons until yo~r see the red light
on the Llniversal transmitter flash rapidly. The rapid
flashing, which could take up
to 90 seconds,
indicates that the universal transmitter has been
programmed. Release both buttons once the light
starts
to flash rapidly.
If you have trouble programming the universal
transmitter, make s~rre that you have followed the
directions exactly
as described and that the battery in the
hand-held transmitter is not dead.
If yo~t still cannot
program
it, rotate the hand-held transmitter end over end
and
try again. The universal transmitter may not work
with older garage door openers that do not meet current
Federal Consumer Safety Standards.
If you cannot
program the transmitter after repeated attempts. consult
your
GM dealer.
Be sure to keep the original hand-held transmitter in case
you need
to erase and reprogram the universal transmitter.

Operating the Transmitter
Press and hold the appropriate button on the universal
transmitter. The red light comes on while the signal is
being transmitted.
Note that the effective transmission range of the
universal transmitter may differ from the hand-held
transmitter and from one channel to another.
Erasing Channels
To erase all three programmed channels, hold down
the two outside buttons until the red light begins to
flash. Individual channels cannot be erased.
but can be
reprogrammed using
the procedure for programming the
transmitter explained earlier.
Training a Garage Opener with a "Rolling
Code" Feature
If you programmed the universal transmitter. but the
garage door will not open. and
if your garage door opener
was manufactured after
1995, your garage door may have
a security feature that changes the "code"
of your garage
door opener every time
it is opened or closed.
To determine if your garage door opener has this
"rolling code" feature. press the appropriate button on
the universal transmitter that was programmed. If the
red light tlashes rapidly for one to two seconds, then
turns solid, your garage door opener
has this feature.
To program a garage door opener with the rolling code
feature, do the following:

Program your hand-held transmitter to the universal
transmitter by following the steps provided under
"Programming the Transmitter" earlier in this section.
Remove the cover panel from the garage door opener
receiver.
It is located near the garage door opener motor.
Locate the training button
on the garage door opener
receiver. The exact location and color
will vary
among brands.
Press the training button on the garage door opener
receiver for one to two seconds.
Return
to your vehicle and press the programmed
button on the universal transmitter
until the red light
flashes rapidly (about two seconds).
Release the button. then repress
it to confirm it was
programmed to the garage door opener receiver.
You may now use either the universal transmitter or
the hand-held transmitter to open your garage door.
