6. CHECK SOLENOID SEALS
If there is foreign material in the solenoid valve, there will be no
fluid control even with solenoid operation.
(a) Check No. 1 and No. 2 solenoid valves. (A540E,
A540H)
wApplying 5 kg/cm2 (71 psi, 490 kPa) of compressed air,
check that the solenoid valves open do not leak the air.
wWhen supply battery voltage to the solenoids, check that the
solenoid valves open.
(b) Check the lock±up solenoid valve. (A540E, A540H)
wApplying 5 kglcm2 (71 psi, 490 kPa) of compressed air, check
that the solenoid valve opens.
wWhen supply battery voltage to the solenoid, check that the
solenoid valve does not leak the air. 4. (A540H)

7. MEASURE DRIVE PINION PRELOAD
Using a torque meter, measure the drive pinion pre-
load.
Preload (at starting) : Reused bearing
5 ± 8 kg±cm (4.3 ± 6.9 in.±lb, 0.5 ± 0.8 N±m)
The total preload measured in step 1 minus the drivE
pinion preload equals 1.3 ± 2.0 kg±cm (1.1 ± 1.7 in.±lb
0.1 ± 0.2 N±m). If the result is not within this specifica-
tion the side bearing preload is bad.(b) Using pliers, pull out the drive pinion cap.
(c) Remove the O±rings from the cap. 6. REMOVE DRIVE PINION CAP
