Overview of climate control systems
Notes on climate control
An interior airfilter must always be used sothatthe air conditioning system, pollution level moni‐toring andthe airfiltering functionworkcor‐rectly. Makesurethatthefilter is installed cor‐rectly andthefilter housing inthe engine com‐partment is closed correctly usingthe cap andalways tightly sealed when in operation. Usefil‐tersrecommended and approvedbyMercedes-Benz. Always haveserviceworkcarried out at aqualified specialistworkshop.

Plug-inhybrid:observethe notes inthe Supple‐ment. Otherwise,you mayfailtorecognize dan‐gers.
The indicator lamps inthe buttons indicatethatthe corresponding function is activated.

The A/C function heats, cools and dehumidifiesthevehicle's interior air.

Switch offthe A/C function only brieflyother‐wisethe windowsmayfog up morequickly.
Condensation may drip fromthe underside ofthevehicle when cooling mode is active. This isnot a signthatthere is a malfunction.

Switchingresidual heat on/off inthe frontcompartment
Requirements:RThevehicle is parked.
It is possibletomake use oftheresidual heatfromthe enginetocontinue heating orventilat‐ingthe front compartment ofthevehicleforapproximately 30 minutes, depending onthetemperature set.

Residual heat will be switched off automatically.
Switchingresidual heat on/off intherearpassenger compartment
Requirements:RThevehicle is parked.
Whentheresidual heat ofthe engine is activatedintherear passenger compartment,you can
heat orventilatethe front andrear compart‐mentsfor approximately15minutes.

Ionization cleans andrefreshesthe interior air ofthevehicle. The ionization ofthe interior air isodorless.

Freshener
The fragrance system distributes a pleasant fra‐grancethroughoutthevehicle interior from afla‐con located intheglovebox.

&WARNINGRisk of injuryfrom liquid per‐fume
Ifchildren opentheflacon,theycould drinkthe liquid perfume or it could come into con‐tact with theireyes.

#Consult a doctor immediately if liquidperfume has been drunk.

Dispose ofthegenuine Mercedes-Benz interiorperfumeflacon when it is empty and do notrefillit.
Refillable flacon
#Unscrewthe cap ofthe emptyflacon.
#Filltheflacon with a maximum of 0.5fl. oz.(15 ml).
#Screwthe cap back ontotheflacon.
Alwaysrefillthe emptyrefillableflacon withthesame perfume. Observethe separate informa‐tion sheet withtheflacon.
Information onthe windshield heater
The windshield heater is switched on automati‐cally ifthedbutton is activated.
Afterthevehicle isstarted,the windshieldheater is switched on automatically asrequired.

Adjusting the front airvents
&WARNING‑ Danger of burns or frostbiteduetobeingtoo closetothe airvents
Veryhot orverycold air canflowfromthe airvents.
This couldresult in burns or frostbite intheimmediate vicinity ofthe airvents.
#Makesurethat allvehicle occupantsalways maintain a sufficient distancetothe airvents.
#If necessary, directthe airflowtoanother area ofthevehicle interior.
Toguaranteethe fresh air supplythroughthe airvents intothevehicle interior, comply withthefollowing:
RAlwayskeepthevents andtheventilationgrille inthevehicle interior free.
RKeepthe air inlet free of deposits(→page 403).
