whentheoutsidetemperatureisbelowzero.
Whenthecoolingmodeisswitchedon,M&the
vehicleinterioriscooledanddehumidifiedas
quicklyaspossible.

Inrecirculationmode,theairinsidethevehicleis
circulatedandfiltered.Thispreventstheunfil-
teredairoutsidethevehiclefromenteringthe
vehicleinterior.Switchingrecirculationmodeon
whendrivingthroughatunnelorwhensittingin
trafficisrecommended>A\.
Usingthebutton,recirculationmodeisswitched
onandoffusingthe<>button.Youcanalso
switchtherecirculationmodeoffbypressingthe

AUTOAutomaticmode
Automaticmodemaintainsaconstanttempera-
tureinsidethevehicle.Airtemperature,airflow
andairdistributionarecontrolledautomatically.
Youcanswitchautomaticmodeonoroffby
pressingtheknob(@).
Temperature
Youcanadjustthetemperaturebetween60°F
(+16°C)and84°F(+28°C)byturningtheknob
@.Ifoutsideofthisrange,LOorHIwillappear
intheclimatecontrolsystemdisplay.Atbothof
thesesettings,theclimatecontrolsystemruns
continuously
atmaximumcoolingorheating
power.Thereisnotemperatureregulation.

Youcanadjustthevolumeofairgeneratedby the
blowertoyourpreferenceusingtherocker
switches(@).Theblowershouldalwaysrunata
lowsettingtopreventthewindowsfromfogging
andtoensureacontinuousexchangeofairinside

matically,presstheknob@).

Youcanusetherockerswitches(2)toadjustthe
ventswheretheairwillflowoutof.Pressthe
rockerswitches(2)repeatedlyuntilthedesired
airdistributionsettingisdisplayedintheclimate
controlsystemcontrols.To havetheairdistribu-
tionregulatedautomatically,presstheknob@).
af£JSeatheating/ventilation*
Pressingthe«/“J buttonswitchestheseat
heating/ventilationonatthehighestsetting(lev-
el 3).TheLEDsindicatethetemperaturelevel.To
reducethetemperature,pressthebuttonagain.
Toswitchtheseatheating/ventilationoff,press
thebuttonrepeatedlyuntiltheLEDturnsoff.
@WMAXDefogging
Thewindshieldandsidewindowsaredefrosted
orclearedofcondensationasquicklyaspossible.
Themaximumamountofairflowsmainlyfrom
theventsbelowthewindshield.Recirculation
modeswitchesoff. Thetemperatureshouldbe
setat+72°F(+22°C)orhigher.Thetemperature
iscontrolledautomatically.
Defrostisswitchedonandoff#MAXbutton.
Youcanalsoswitchthefunctionoffbypressing
theknob@).
Appliestovehicleswithwindshielddefogger:the
windshielddefoggerswitchesonautomatically
whenoutsidetemperaturesarelow.Ifyouwould
liketoswitchthewindshielddefrosteronman-
ually,pressthe&button.TheLEDinthebutton
blinks.
GDREARRearwindowdefogger
Pressthebutton&toswitchtherearwindowde-
foggeron.Itonlyoperateswhentheengineis
running.Itswitchesoffautomaticallyafter10to
20minutes,dependingontheoutsidetempera-
ture.
Topreventtherearwindowdefoggerfrom
switchingoffautomatically,pressandholdthe
GPREARbuttonformorethanthreeseconds.
Thisisstoreduntiltheignitionisswitchedoff.>

SYNCSynchronization
Usetherockerswitch(@)toselectthefunction.
Whensynchronizationisswitchedon,theset-
tingsforthedriver'ssideareappliedtothefront
passenger'ssideandtherear(exceptforseat
heating/ventilation*).Whenthesettingsonthe
frontpassenger'ssideorinthereararechanged,
thesynchronizationisautomaticallyswitchedoff
and4-zoneappearsinthedisplay.
SETREARfunction
Usetherockerswitch(@toselectthefunction.
Whenthefunctionisswitchedon,youcanadjust
allsettingsfortherearusingtheclimatecontrol
systemcontrolsinthecockpit.Therearclimate
controlsystemcontrolscannot beoperatedat
thesametime.Thisfunctionswitchesoffauto-
maticallyafteracertainperiodoftimeorafter
leavingthemenu.
Vents
Youcanopenorclosethecenterandrearventsin
thecockpitandtheventsintherearcenter con-
soleanddoorpillarsusingtheridgedthumb-
wheels.Theleversadjustthedirectionoftheair-
flowfromthevents.Thewideventisopenedand
closedusingthe=button©page8,fig.2©.
Residualheat
Youcanactivatetheresidualheatfunctionwhen
theignitionisswitchedoffbypressingtheknob
@(leftside).Theresidualheatfromthecoolant
isusedtoheatthevehicleinterior.Theresidual
heatfunctionswitchesoffautomaticallyafter
about15minutes.

ZAWARNING
—Youshouldnotuse therecirculationmode
foranextendedperiodoftime,becauseno
freshairisdrawninandthewindowscan
fogwhencoolingmodeisswitchedoff.This
increasestheriskofanaccident.
—Individualswithreducedsensitivityto pain
ortemperaturecoulddevelopburnswhen
usingtheseatheatingfunction.To reduce
theriskofinjury,theseindividualsshould
not useseatheating.

1,000miles(1,500km)sothatallmovingparts
worksmoothlytogether,whichhelpsto increase
theservicelifeoftheengine.
Donotdrivehigherthantwo-thirds ofthemaxi-
mumpermittedengineRPMduringthefirst600
miles(1,000km)and donotusefullaccelera-
tion.TheenginecanbeincreasedRPMgradually
duringthenext300miles(500km).
Reducingtheriskof vehicledamage

Whendrivingonpoorroads,overcurbs,and
onsteepramps,makesurethatcomponents
thathang belowthevehicle,suchasthespoil-
erandexhaustsystem,arenotstruckbecause
theycouldbedamaged.Thisespeciallyap-
pliestovehicleswithlowgroundclearance
andvehiclesthatareheavilyloaded.
Drivingthroughwateronroads
Notethefollowingtoreducetheriskofvehicle
damagewhendrivingthroughwater,forexample
onfloodedroads:
—Thewatermustnotbeanyhigherthanthebot-
tomofthevehiclebody.
—Donotdrivefasterthanwalkingspeed.

moistureonthebrakerotorsandbrakepads.

usualmayincreasetheriskofaccidentsand
