Using the automatic mode
Press or select on the control screen.
The air conditioning system will begin to operate. Air outlets and fan speed
are automatically adjusted accord ing to the temperature setting.
Press to switch to automatic air intake mode.
The air conditioning system automati cally switches between outside air
and recirculated air modes.
Press or select to increase the temperature and press
or select to decrease the temperature. The temperature for the driver’s and front passenger’s seats can be set se parately.
To stop the operation, press .■
Automatic mode indicator
If the fan speed setting or air flow modes are operated, the automatic mode
indicator goes off. However, automati c mode for functions other than that
operated is maintained.
The air conditioning system switches between individual and simultaneous
modes each time on the control screen is selected.
Individual mode (the indicator is on.): The temperature for the driver’s, front pas-
senger’s and rear seats ( → P. 410) can be adjusted separately. Operating the
passenger’s side or rear temperatur e control will enter individual mode.
In the simultaneous mode, only (increase) or (decrease) on the
driver’s side can be used to ad just the temperature for all seats.Air conditioning controls

Switching between outside air and recirculated air modes
Press on the control panel. The mode switches among (recirculated air mode), “AUTO” and
(outside air mode) each time is pressed.
When the system is switched to auto matic mode, it operates automatically.■
Defogging the windshield
Defoggers are used to defog the wi ndshield and front side windows.
Press on the control panel. Set the outside/recirculated air mode button to outside air mode if the recirculated
air mode is used. (It may switch automatically.)
To defog the windshield and the side wind ows early, turn the air flow and tempera-
ture up.
To return to the previous mode, press
again when the windshield is
defogged.■
Defogging the rear window and outside rear view mirrors
Defoggers are used to defog the rear window and to remove raindrops, dew
and frost from the outside rear view mirrors.
Press on the control panel. Press again to turn the defogger off.

Micro dust and pollen filter
Pollen is removed from the air and the air flows to the upper part of the body.
Select on the option control screen. In order to prevent the windshield from fo gging up when the outside air is cold, the
dehumidification function may operate.
The pollens are filtered out even if the micro dust and pollen filter is turned off.

Windshield wiper de-icer
This feature is used to prevent ice fr om building up on the windshield and
wiper blades.
Select on the option control screen. When the windshield wiper de-ice r is on, the indicator turns on.
The windshield wiper de-icer will automati cally turn off after a period of time.Other functions

Using automatic mode
Fan speed is adjusted automatically according to the temperature setting and the ambi-
ent conditions.
Therefore, the fan may stop for a while until wa rm or cool air is ready to flow immediately
after the is pressed or on the control screen is selected. ■
Operation of the air conditioning system in Eco drive mode ●
In the Eco drive mode, the air conditioning sy stem is controlled as follows to prioritize
fuel efficiency
• Engine speed and compressor operation controlled to restrict heating/cooling
capacity
• Fan speed restricted when automatic mode is selected ●
To improve air conditioning performa nce, perform the following operations
• Adjust the fan speed
• Turn off Eco mode ■
Using the voice command system
Air conditioning system can be operated using voic e commands. For details, refer to the
“NAVIGATION SYSTEM OWNER’S MANUAL”. ■
Fogging up of the windows ●
The windows will easily fog up when the hu midity in the vehicl e is high. Selecting
will dehumidify the air from the outlets and defog the windshield effectively. ●
If you turn off, the wind ows may fog up more easily.●
The windows may fog up if the recirculated air mode is used. ■
Outside/recirculated air mode ●
When driving on dusty roads such as tunnels or in heavy traffic, set the outside/recircu-
lated air mode button to the recirculated air mode. This is effective in preventing out-
side air from enteri ng the vehicle interior. During cooling operation, setting the
recirculated air mode will also cool the vehicle interior effectively. ●
Outside/recirculated air mode may automa tically switch depending on the tempera-
ture setting or the inside temperature. ■
When the outside temperature exceeds 75 ° F (24 ° C) and the air conditioning system
is on ●
In order to reduce the air co nditioning power consumption, the air conditioning system
may switch to recirculated air mode automatically.
This may also reduce fuel consumption. ●
Recirculated air mode is selected as a defaul t mode when the engine switch is turned to
IGNITION ON mode. ●
It is possible to switch to outside air mode at any time by pressing .■
Automatic mode for air intake control
In automatic mode, the system detects exhaust gas and other pollutants and automati-
cally switches between outside air and recirculated air modes.
When the dehumidification function is off, and the fan is operating, turning automatic
mode on will activate the dehumidification function.

When the outside temperature is low
The dehumidification function may not operate even when is selected. ■
Micro dust and pollen filter ●
In order to prevent the windows from fogging up when the outside air is cold, the fol-
lowing may occur.
• Outside air mode does not swit ch to recirculated air mode.
• The air conditioning system operates automatically.
• The operation cancels after 1 minute. ●
In rainy weather, the windows may fog up. Press . ■
The rear window defogger, outside rear vi ew mirror defogger and windshield wiper de-
icer can be operated when
The engine switch is in IGNITION ON mode. ■
When the windshield wiper de-icer is on
The windshield wiper de-icer will automatically turn off after approximately 15 minutes.■
Ventilation and air conditioning odors ●
To let fresh air in, set the air conditioning system to the outside air mode. ●
During use, various odors from inside and outside the vehicle may enter into and accu-
mulate in the air conditioning system. This may then cause odor to be emitted from the
vents. ●
To reduce potential odors from occurring:
• It is recommended that the air conditioning system be set to outside air mode prior
to turning the vehicle off.
• The start timing of the blower may be dela yed for a short period of time immediately
after the air conditioning system is started in automatic mode.■
While the cool box is on (if equipped)
The front air conditioning sy stem cannot be turned off.■

WARNING ■
To prevent the windshield from fogging up ●
Do not use during cool air operation in extremely humid weather. The differ-
ence between the temperature of the outside air and that of the windshield can cause
the outer surface of the windshield to fog up, blocking your vision.■
To prevent burns ●
Do not touch the rear view mirror surfaces when the outside rear view mirror defog-
gers are on. ●
Do not touch the glass at lower part of the windshield or to the side of the front pillars
when the windshield wiper de-icer is on.
