■Personal lights automatic on/off
●Illuminated entry system: The lights auto- matically turn on/off according to the
engine switch mode, the presence of the electronic key, whether the doors are locked/unlocked, and
whether the doors are opened/closed.
●If the personal lights remain on when the
engine switch is turned
off, the lights will go off automatically
after 20 minutes.
■When personal lights do not respond as normal
●When water, dirt, etc., have adhered to the lens surface
●When operated with a wet hand
●When wearing gloves, etc.

Do not leave glasses, lighters or spray cans in the storage spaces, as this may cause the following when cabin tempera-

●Glasses may be deformed by heat or cracked if they come into contact with other stored items.

stored items, the lighter may catch fire or the spray can may release gas, causing a fire hazard.
■When the storage compartments are
not in use
When driving or when the storage com- partments are not in use, keep the lids closed.
In the event of sudden braking or sudden swerving, an accident may occur due to an occupant being struck by an open lid
or the items stored inside.

Maintenance and care
■Notes for a smart entry & start system
If the door handle becomes wet while the
electronic key is within the effective range, the door may lock and unlock repeatedly. In that case, follow the following correction
procedures to wash the vehicle:
●Place the key in a position 2 m (6 ft.) or
more separate from the vehicle while the vehicle is being washed. (Take care to ensure that the key is not stolen.)
●Set the electronic key to battery-saving mode to disable the smart entry & start
system. ( P.124)
■Aluminum wheels
●Remove any dirt immediately by using a
neutral detergent.
●Wash detergent off with water immedi-
ately after use.
●To protect the paint from damage, make
sure to observe the following precau- tions.• Do not use acidic, alkaline or abrasive
detergent • Do not use hard brushes• Do not use detergent on the wheels when
they are hot, such as after driving or park- ing in hot weather
■Brake caliper coating
●When using detergent, use neutral deter-gent. Do not use hard brushes or abra-
sive cleaners, as they will damage the coating.
●Do not use detergent on the brake cali-pers when they are hot.
●Wash detergent off immediately after use.
■Bumpers
Do not scrub with abrasive cleaners.
■Front side windows water-repellent coating
●The following precautions can extend the effectiveness of the water-repellent coat-ing.
• Remove any dirt, etc. from the front side windows regularly.• Do not allow dirt and dust to accumulate
on the windows for a long period. Clean the windows with a soft, damp cloth as soon as possible.
• Do not use wax or glass cleaners that contain abrasives when cleaning the win-dows.
• Do not use any metallic objects to remove condensation build up.
●When the water-repellent performance has become insufficient, the coating can be repaired. Contact any authorized
Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
WARNING
■When washing the vehicle
Do not apply water to the inside of the
engine compartment. Doing so may cause the electrical components etc. to catch fire.
■When cleaning the windshield
Set the wiper switch to off. If the wiper switch is in AUTO, the wipers
may operate unexpectedly in the follow- ing situations, and may result in hands being caught or other serious injuries
and cause damage to the wiper blades.

Maintenance and care
The 12-volt battery is located in the
trunk.
■Before recharging
When recharging, the 12-volt battery pro- duces hydrogen gas which is flammable and explosive. Therefore, observe the fol-
lowing precautions before recharging:
●If recharging with the 12-volt battery
installed on the vehicle, be sure to discon- nect the ground cable.
●Make sure the power switch on the char-ger is off when connecting and discon-necting the charger cables to the 12-volt
battery.
■After recharging/reconnecting the 12- volt battery
●Unlocking the doors using the smart entry & start system may not be possible immediately after reconnecting the 12-
volt battery. If this happens, use the wire- less remote control or the mechanical key to lock/unlock the doors.
●Start the engine with the engine switch in ACCES-
SORY mode. The engine may not start with the engine switch turned off. However, the
engine will operate nor- mally from the second attempt.
●The engine switch mode
is recorded by the vehicle. If the 12-volt battery is reconnected, the vehicle will return the engine switch
mode to the status it was in before the 12- volt battery was disc onnected. Make sure to turn off the engine switch switch> before disconnect the 12-volt bat- tery. Take extra care when connecting the 12-volt battery if the engine switch
mode prior to discharge is unknown.
If the engine will not start even after multiple attempts at all methods above, contact any authorized Lexus
retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
12-volt battery

■Chemicals in the 12-volt battery
The 12-volt battery contains poisonous
and corrosive sulfuric acid and may pro- duce hydrogen gas which is flammable and explosive. To reduce the risk of death
or serious injury, take the following pre- cautions while working on or near the 12-volt battery:
●Do not cause sparks by touching the
12-volt battery terminals with tools.
●Do not smoke or light a match near the 12-volt battery.
●Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothes.
●Never inhale or swallow electrolyte.
●Wear protective safety glasses when
working near the 12-volt battery.
●Keep children away from the 12-volt battery.
■Where to safely charge the 12-volt battery
Always charge the 12-volt battery in an open area. Do not charge the 12-volt bat-
tery in a garage or closed room where there is insufficient ventilation.

●Make sure that the smart entry & start system has not been deactivated using the Remote Touch or at any authorized
Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer. If it is off, turn the function on.
●Check if battery-saving mode is set. If it is set, cancel the function. ( P.124)
Use the mechanical key (P.113) in

●Install the tab so that it does not cover
the clip installation position . Fail-
ure to do so may cause damage to the clip and make it impossible to install
the cover.

If the electronic key does not
operate properly
If communication between the
electronic key and vehicle is inter-
rupted ( P.124) or the electronic
key cannot be used because the
battery is depleted, the smart entry
& start system and wireless remote
control cannot be used. In such
cases, the doors and trunk can be
opened and the engine tem> can be started by following
the procedure below.

1 Push in the depression on the front
edge of the driver’s door handle.
2 Insert the mechanical key while
pulling on the driver’s door handle.
3 Turn the key in order to perform the
following operations.

■Opening the trunk
Unlock the doors, and press the trunk
opener switch.

When the electronic key is detected, a buzzer sounds and the engine switch
will turn to IGNITION ON mode .

■When using the mechanical key and operating the power windows
Operate the power window after check- ing to make sure that there is no possibil-
ity of any passenger having any of their body parts caught in the window.Also, do not allow children to operate the
mechanical key. It is possible for children and other passengers to get caught in the power window.

In the event that the engine tem> still cannot be started, contact
any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus
authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer.
■Stopping the engine
Set the parking brake, shift the shift position to P and press the engine switch as you normally do when stopping
the engine .
■Electronic key battery
As the above procedure is a temporary
measure, it is recommended that the elec- tronic key battery be replaced immediately when the battery is depleted. ( P.349)
■Alarm (if equipped)
Using the mechanical key to lock the doors will not set the alarm system.
If a door is unlocked using the mechanical key when the alarm system is set, the alarm may be triggered.
■Changing engine switch
modes
Release the brake pedal and press the
engine switch in step 3
above. The engine does not start and modes will be changed each time the
switch is pressed. ( P.165, 170)

belts towards the outside.
2 Insert your fingers at the positions
marked and pull towards you to
remove the cover in the center of
the rear seat.

cylinder and turn it clockwise to
open.
