■Enabling/disabling the pre-colli-
sion system
The pre-collision system can be
enabled/disabled on ( P.92) of
the multi-information display.
The system is automatically enabled each
time the engine switch is
turned to IGNITION ON mode mode>.
If the system is disabled, the PCS warn-
ing light will turn on and a message will
be displayed on the multi-information
display.
■Changing the pre-collision warn-
ing timing
The pre-collision warning timing can
be changed on ( P.92) of the
multi-information display.
The operation timing setting is retained
when the engine switch is
turned off.

The warning will begin to operate earlier
than with the default timing.
WARNING
●When inspecting the vehicle using a drum tester such as a chassis dyna-mometer or speedo meter tester, or
when using an on vehicle wheel bal- ancer
●When a strong impact is applied to the front bumper or front grille, due to an
accident or other reasons
●If the vehicle cannot be driven in a sta- ble manner, such as when the vehicle has been in an accident or is malfunc-
tioning

WARNING
■Before using LKA system
Do not rely solely upon the LKA system. The LKA system does not automatically
drive the vehicle or reduce the amount of attention that must be paid to the area in front of the vehicle. The driver must
always assume full responsibility for driv- ing safely by paying careful attention to the surrounding conditions and operat-
ing the steering wheel to correct the path of the vehicle. Also, the driver must take adequate breaks when fatigued, such as
from driving for a long period of time. Failure to perform appropriate driving operations and pay careful attention may
lead to an accident, resulting in death or serious injury.
■To avoid operating LKA system by mistake
When not using the LKA system, use the LKA switch to turn the system off.
■Situations unsuitable for LKA system
Do not use the LKA system in the follow- ing situations.The system may not operate properly
and lead to an accident, resulting in death or serious injury.
●A spare tire, tire chains, etc. are equipped.
●When the tires have been excessively
worn, or when the tire inflation pres- sure is low.
●Tires which differ by structure, manu-facturer, brand or tread pattern are
used.
●Objects or patterns that could be mis- taken for white (yellow) lines are pres-ent on the side of the road (guardrails,
curbs, reflective poles, etc.).
●Vehicle is driven on a snow-covered road.
●White (yellow) lines are difficult to see due to rain, snow, fog, dust, etc.
●Asphalt repair marks, white (yellow) line marks, etc. are present due to road repair.
●Vehicle is driven in a temporary lane or
restricted lane due to construction work.
●Vehicle is driven on a road surface which is slippery due to rainy weather,
fallen snow, freezing, etc.
●Vehicle is driven in traffic lanes other than on highways and freeways.
●Vehicle is driven in a construction zone.
■Preventing LKA system malfunctions
and operations performed by mistake
●Do not modify the headlights or place
stickers, etc. on the surface of the lights.

WARNING
■Stopping distance when the ABS is operating may exceed that of normal conditions
The ABS is not designed to shorten the vehicle’s stopping distance. Always main-
tain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you, especially in the following situations:
●When driving on dirt, gravel or snow-
covered roads
●When driving with tire chains
●When driving over bumps in the road
●When driving over roads with potholes or uneven surfaces
■TRC/VSC may not operate effec-tively when
Directional control and power may not be achievable while driving on slippery
road surfaces, even if the TRC/VSC sys- tem is operating.
Drive the vehicle carefully in conditions where stability and power may be lost.
■Hill- start assist control does not operate effectively when
●Do not overly rely on hill-start assist control. Hill-start assist control may
not operate effectively on steep inclines and roads covered with ice.
●Unlike the parking brake, hill-start assist control is not intended to hold
the vehicle stationary for an extended period of time. Do not attempt to use hill-start assist control to hold the vehi-
cle on an incline, as doing so may lead to an accident.
■When the TRC/VSC/ABS is acti-vated
The slip indicator light flashes. Always drive carefully. Reckless driving may
cause an accident. Exercise particular care when the indicator light flashes.
■When the TRC/VSC systems are turned off
Be especially careful and drive at a speed appropriate to the road conditions. As
these are the systems to help ensure vehicle stability and dr iving force, do not turn the TRC/VSC systems off unless
necessary.
■Secondary Collision Brake
Do not overly rely on the Secondary Col-
lision Brake. This system is designed to help reduce the possibility of further damage due to a secondary collision,
however, that effect changes according to various conditions. Overly relying on the system may result in death or serious
injury.
■Replacing tires
Make sure that all tires are of the speci-
fied size, brand, tread pattern and total load capacity. In addition, make sure that the tires are inflated to the recom-
mended tire inflation pressure level.
The ABS, TRC and VSC systems will not
function correctly if different tires are installed on the vehicle.
Contact any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer for further information when replacing tires or wheels.
■Handling of tires and the suspension
Using tires with any kind of problem or modifying the suspension will affect the driving assist systems, and may cause a
system to malfunction.

Driving
Use fluids that are appropriate to
the prevailing outside temperatures.
•Engine oil
•Engine coolant
• Power control unit coolant (LC500h)
•Washer fluid
 Have a service technician inspect
the condition of the 12-volt battery.
 Have the vehicle fitted with four
snow tires.
Ensure that all tires are the specified size
and the same brand.
 Tire chains can only be installed on
the rear tires. However, tire chains
cannot be installed on 275/35RF21
or 275/40RF20 rear tires.
Before installing tire ch ains, change all four
tires and wheels to those of the specified
size for use with tire chains (front tires:
245/45RF20, rear tires: 245/45RF20,
wheels: 20 x 8 1/2 J 25 inset). Use the
specified type of tire chains and install
them on the rear tires only.
For details, contact any authorized Lexus
retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or
any reliable repairer.
Winter driving tips
Carry out the necessary prepara-
tions and inspections before driving
the vehicle in winter. Always drive
the vehicle in a manner appropriate
to the prevailing weather condi-
tions.

WARNING
■Driving with snow tires
Observe the following precautions to
reduce the risk of accidents.
Failure to do so may result in a loss of
vehicle control and cause death or seri- ous injury.
●Use tires of the specified size.
●Maintain the recommended level of air pressure.
●Do not drive at speeds in excess of the
speed limit or the speed limit specified for the snow tires being used.
●Use snow tires on all, not just some wheels.
■Driving with tire chains
Observe the following precautions to reduce the risk of accidents.
Failure to do so may result in the vehicle being unable to be driven safely, and may
cause death or serious injury.
●Do not drive in excess of the speed limit specified for the tire chains being used, or 50 km/h (30 mph), which-
ever is lower.
●Avoid driving on bumpy road surfaces or over potholes.
●Avoid sudden acceleration, abrupt steering, sudden braking and shifting
operations that cause sudden engine braking.
●Slow down sufficiently before entering a curve to ensure that vehicle control is
maintained.
●Do not use LKA (Lane-Keeping Assist) system. (if equipped)

Driving
Vehicles with front and rear tires of
the same size
Use the correct tire chain size when
mounting the tire chains.
Chain size is regulated for each tire
size.
Side chain (3 mm [0.12 in.] in diam-
eter)
Cross chain (4 mm [0.16 in.] in
diameter)
Vehicles with front and rear tires of
differing sizes
Tire chains cannot be mounted.
Snow tires should be used instead.
Regulations regarding the use of tire
chains vary dependin g on location and
type of road. Always check local regu-
lations before installing chains.
■Tire chain installation
Observe the following precautions when
installing and removing chains:
●Install and remove tire chains in a safe location.
●Install tire chains on the rear tires. Do not install tire chains on the front tires.
●Install tire chains on rear tires as tightly as possible. Retighten chains after driving 0.5 - 1.0 km (1/4 - 1/2 mile).
●Install tire chains following the instruc-tions provided with the tire chains.
To enable the windshield wipers to be
lifted when heavy snow or icy condi-
tions are expected, change the rest
position of the windshield wipers from
the retracted position below the hood
to the service position using the wiper

■Routine tire inflation pressure checks
The tire pressure warning system does not
replace routine tire inflation pressure checks. Make sure to check tire inflation pressure as part of your routine of daily
vehicle checks.
■Situations in which the tire pressure warning system may not operate prop-
erly
●In the following cases, the tire pressure
warning system may not operate prop- erly.• If non-genuine Lexus wheels are used.
• A tire has been replaced with a tire that is not an OE (Original Equipment) tire.• A tire has been replaced with a tire that is
not of the specified size. • Tire chains etc. are equipped.• An auxiliary-supported run-flat tire is
equipped. • If a window tint that affects the radio wave signals is installed.
• If there is a lot of snow or ice on the vehi- cle, particularly around the wheels or wheel housings.
• If the tire inflation pressure is extremely higher than the specified level.• If wheels without tire pressure warning
valves and transmitters are used. • If the ID code on the tire pressure warn-ing valves and transmitters is not regis-
tered in the tire pressure warning
computer.
●Performance may be affected in the fol-
lowing situations. • Near a TV tower, electric power plant, gas station, radio station, large display,
airport or other facility that generates strong radio waves or electrical noise• When carrying a portable radio, cellular
phone, cordless phone or other wireless communication device
If tire position information is not correctly
displayed due to the radio wave conditions,
the display may be corrected by driving and
changing the radio wave conditions.
●When the vehicle is parked, the time taken for the warning to start or go off
could be extended.
●When tire inflation pressure declines rap-
idly for example when a tire has burst, the warning may not function.
■Warning performance of the tire pres-sure warning system
The warning of the tire pressure warning system will change in accordance with the
conditions under which it was initialized. For this reason, the system may give a warning
even if the tire pressure does not reach a low enough level, or if the pressure is higher than the pressure that was adjusted to when
the system was initialized.
