App lies to vehicles: with e ngin e speed limitat ion
Ill Engine speed maximum XXXX RPM
The engine speed is automatically limited to the
speed displayed in the instrument cluster. This
protects the eng ine from overheating.
The engine speed limitation deactivates once the
engine is no longer in the critical temperature
range and you have released the accelerator ped­
al.
If the engine speed limitation was activated by
an engine control malfunction, the
Im indicator
light also turns on. Make sure that the speed
does not go above the speed d isplayed. Drive to
an authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi
Service Facility immediately to have the malfunc­
tion corrected .

• Oil level! Sensor defective
If the symbol illuminates, contact your author­
ized Audi dealer and have the oil sensor inspect ­
ed. Until you have th is done, check the oil level
each time you refuel just to be on the safe side

Fuel has entered the engine oil, either from low
outside temperatures or frequent short d rives.
Drive until the engine is warm so that the fuel in
the eng ine oi l wi ll evaporate. Avoid high eng ine

The light/rain sensor is malfunctioning.
F or safety reasons , the low beams are turned on
permanen tly with the switch in
AUTO. However,
you can continue to turn the lights on and off us­
ing the light switch . You can still control a ll func­
tions that are independent of the rain sensor
t hrough the windshield wiper lever.

The transm ission temperat ure has increased s ig ­
nificantly d ue to the sporty driving manner. Drive
i n a less sporty manner unt il the temperature re­
turns to the normal range and the indicator light
switches of.

Contact your author ized Audi dealer or a
qualified workshop if the spo rt differential is
fa ulty o r malfunctioning . The repa ir must be
performed by trained pe rsonnel using the cor­
rect o il in order to ens ure s afety.
¢ ¢Turn signals
The indicator light blinks when you use either
turn signal.
Wheneve r you use the left B or the right B
turn s ignal, the indicator light blinks . When you
use the eme rgency flashers, bot h indicator lights
flash.
If one of the turn signa l light bulbs burn out, the
turn s ignal will bli nk twice as fast as normal.
Carefully dr ive to your author ized Audi dealer im­
med iate ly to have the malfunction cor rected. The
i ndica tor l igh t does not ind icate a ma lf u nction if
a turn signal on the tra iler or on the vehicle fails
i n tra iler towing mode.

The PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF light will come on
and stay on t o tell you w hen t he front Advanced
Ai rb ag on t he passe nger side has been turned o ff
Airbag system
by the e lec tronic control unit . If the bulb fo r the
PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF light bu rns out, the
airbag indicator light
fl will come on to signal a
malfunction in the Advanced Airbag System. Al ­
t h ough the burned -out bu lb w ill not change the
way t he front passenger's fro nta l airbag works, it
will no longer be possible to use the
PASSENGER
AIR BAG OFF
light to mak e sur e that the a irbag
o n/off sta tus is co rrec t for the oc cupant o n the
fro nt p assenger se at. H ave t he air bag sy st em in ­
s p ecte d i mme diate ly by your au thorized A udi
dealer.
The PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF light will blink
for about 5 seconds when:
- t he igniti on is sw itched on and
- the capaci tive passenger detec tion system,
which switches the front seat passenger's fron ­
tal Advanced Airbag o n and off, detects a
change in the status of t he front passenge r
s ea t.
As soon as the
PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF light
stops blinking, always make su re that the a irbag
status ( on or off) as shown by the
PASSENGER
AIR BAG OFF
light i s proper for the age, s ize an d
ele ctr ical ca p aci ta nce of the pe rs on occupying
t h e fro nt passen ger sea t. Always ma ke su re that
t h e safety be lt for the front passenge r seat is
proper ly fastene d.
The PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF light will show
the status of the front seat passenger's frontal
Advanced Airbag a few seconds after the igni­
tion is switched on and the airbag indicator
light goes off. The PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF
light:
- will stay on if t he front passenge r seat is not
occu pied ;
-w ill stay on i f th e e lec trica l ca pacitan ce meas ­
ure d by the ca pacitive passenger detection sys­
tem for the front passenger seat equals the
comb ined capac itance of an infant up to about
o ne year of age and one of the rearward-facing
o r forwa rd -facing c hild restra ints listed in Fed ­
er al M otor V ehicl e Safety Sta ndard 2 08 with
which the Advan ced A irbag System in yo ur vehi­
cle w as ce rtified; For a list ing of the chi ld re­

A WARNING
-=
Whenever working on the battery or on the
electrical system, there is the risk of injury,
accident and even fire. Read and heed the fol­
lowing WARNINGS:
- Always wear eye protection . Do not let bat­
tery acid or any lead particles get on your skin or clothing. Shield your eyes. Explosive
gases can cause blindness or other injury .
- Battery acid contains sulfuric acid . Sulfuric
acid can cause blindness and severe burns.
- Always wear gloves and eye protection. Do
not tilt the battery because acid could leak
out of the ventilation openings.
- If you get battery acid in your eyes or on
your skin, immediately rinse with cold wa­
ter for several minutes and get medical at­
tention .
- If you should ingest any battery acid, seek
medical attention immediately .
- Do not expose the battery to an open flame, electric sparks or an open light.
- Do not smoke.
- Do not interchange the positive and nega-
tive cables.
- When working on the battery, be sure not to short-circuit the terminals with tools or oth­
er metal objects. This would cause the bat­
tery to heat up very quickly, which could
lead to damage or explosion and personal
injury .
- When a battery is charged, it produces hy­
drogen gas which is explosive and could
cause personal injury.
- Always keep the battery well out of the
reach of children .
- Before work is done on the electrical sys­
tem, disconnect the negative ground cable.
- Before performing any work on the electri­ cal system, switch off the engine and igni­
tion as well as any electrical equipment . The
negative cable on the battery must be dis­
connected. If you are just going to replace a
light bulb, then it is enough to switch off
the lights .

Checking and Filling
-Before disconnecting the battery, switch off
the anti-theft alarm system! Otherwise you
will set off the alarm.
- When disconnecting the battery, first dis­
connect the negative cable and then the
positive cable.
- Before reconnecting the battery, make sure all electrical consumers are switched off. Re­
connect the positive cable first and then the negative cable. Never interchange the ca­
bles - this could start a fire!
- Never charge a frozen or a thawed -out bat­
tery . It could explode! If a battery has fro­
zen, then it must be replaced. A discharged battery can freeze over at 32 °F (0 °C).
- Make sure the vent hose is always attached
to the opening on the side of the battery.
- Never use batteries which are damaged.
There is the danger of an explosion! Always
replace a damaged battery.

California Proposition 65 Warning:
- Battery posts, terminals and related acces­
sories contain lead and lead compounds,
chemicals known to the State of California
to cause cancer and reproductive problems.
Wash hands after handling.
([) Note
-Do not disconnect the vehicle battery when
the ignition is on or when the engine is run­
ning, otherwise, you will damage electronic
components in the electrical system.
- If your vehicle is going to stand for a long
period of time without being driven, protect
the battery from "freezing", otherwise it
will be damaged and will then have to be re­
placed.
- When opening the doors, the windows low­
er approximately 10 mm automatically. This
function is not available when the battery is
disconnected, which means there is a risk
that the door seal or the window could be
damaged .
