Removing th e head restraints
To remove the head restrai nts, the backrest m ust
be folded forward partially.
• Remove the screwd river from the vehicle tool
ki t
¢ page 230.
• Release t he backrest ¢ page 58 .
• Press the button @¢ fig. 59 and slide the head
restraint up as far as it can go¢&_ .
• Place the screwdriver in position @ in the
opening, press the button @ and pull the head
restra int out of the backrest at the same time
¢ &_ .
• Fo ld the backrest down until it latches securely
c> & in Increasing the size of the luggage
compartment on page 59.
Inst alling the head rest raints
To install the head restraints, the backrest must
be folded forward partially.
• Release the backrest ¢
page 58.
• Slide the posts on the head restraint down into
the gu ides until you feel the posts click into
place . You should not be able to pull the head
restra int out of the backrest.
• Fo ld the backrest down until it latches securely
¢ & in Increasing the size of the luggage
comportment on poge 59.
A WARNING
- Only remove the rear seat head rest raints
when necessary in order to install a child
seat . Insta ll the head restra int aga in imme ­
diately once the ch ild seat is removed. Driv­
ing with the head restra ints removed or
head restraints not in the highest position
increases the risk of serio us in ju ry.

socket.
The 12 volt socket can be used for electr ical ac­
cessor ies. The power consumption at the out let
must not exceed 120 watts.
A WARNING
The socket works on ly when t he ignit ion is
switched on. Incorrect usage can lead to ser i­
ous injuries or burns. To reduce the risk o f in­
ju ries, never leave children unatte nded in the
vehicle with the vehicle key .

-Never connect devices that generate elect ri­
ca l power such as solar panels or a battery
charger to the 12 volt socket . They can dam­
age the vehicle electrical system.

The vehicle battery drains when accessories
are turned on but the engine is off.

Your veh icle has cup holders in the front center
console, in the door pockets and in the rear cen ­
ter armrest* .
A WARNING
-
-Do not p ut any hot beverages in the cup
holder while the vehicle is moving . Ho t bev­
erages could spill, wh ich can cause injury.
- Do not use any breakable beverage cont ain­
ers ( for example, m ade out of glass or po r­
celain). You cou ld be injured by them in the
event of an accident.
(D Note
Beverage containers in the cup holders should
always have a lid. Otherwise, beverages could
spill and cause damage to veh icle equipment
or stain the seat cove rs.

Opening /closing
• To open the glove compartment, pull the han­
dle in the d irection of the arrow .
"' To close the glove compartment, swing the lid
upward until it clicks into place .
The glove compartment can be locked using the
vehicle key.
A WARNING
-Always leave the lid on the glove compart- ment cover closed while dr iving to reduce the
r isk of injury.
Additional storage compartments
T he re are add itiona l storage compartmen ts,
compartments and holders at other locations in
the vehicle:
- In the uppe r part of the glove compartment.
- In the center console under the center arm -
rest* .
- On the back of the right front seat. The com ­
partment* can hold a maximum we ight of
2 lbs
(1 kg) .
A WARNING
-Do not place any objects on the instrument
panel. Objects that are not stored secu rely
can slide around in the vehicle while driving,
when accele rating or braking or when turn­
i n g .
- Make sure that objects cannot fa ll out of the
center console storage compartment or oth-
er compartments and into the footwell

wh ile driving. These objects could prevent
you from braking or accelerat ing during
sudden brak.ing maneuvers.
- Always keep the g love compartment closed
wh ile driving to reduce the risk of injury dur­
ing a collision or heavy braking.

Luggage items must be stowed securely.

Increasing the size of the luggage
compartment
The rear seat backrests can be folded forward ei­
ther separately or together.

There is a re lease lever on each of the side pane ls
i n the luggage compartment to release both rear
seat backrests .
Folding the backrest forward
• Pull the release leve r for the backrest in the d i­

A WARNING
-
-When releasing the rear seat backrest,
make sure there are no people or animals
within its range of motion . The backrest will
fold forwa rd automatically after it is re­
leased .
- The backrest must be securely latched so
objects cannot slide forward out of the lug­
gage compa rtment dur ing sudden bra king.
- Always make sure the back rest is la tched
completely by pulling forward on it.
- Make sure the safety be lt is not ca ught in
t he door h inges o r the seat fitt ings and
damaged.
- Torn or frayed safety belts can break , and
bel t anchors can break d uring a co llision .
C heck the safety bel ts regularly . Safe ty

bing, bindings, buckles or retractors mus t

Stor ing cargo correctly .
A WARNING ~ -
Weak, damaged or fau lty straps used to se­
cure objects to t he tie-downs can fail dur ing
heavy braking or a collision and lead to seri­
ous injur ies.
- Always use suitable straps and secure ob­
jects to the tie-downs in the luggage com­
pa rtme nt to prevent objects from shifting
a nd slid ing forwa rd .
- Never secure a child seat restraint to a tie ­
down .
- Because of the ir load capacity, the hooks
should only be used to secure objects that
weigh a max imum of 10 lb (5 kg) . Heavy ob­
jects will not be secu red s ufficiently , and
this in creases the risk of in jury.

Cargo net/cargo bag
Applies to: vehicles with luggage compartment cargo net/bag
The cargo net prevents light objects from sliding,
and it can also be used as a cargo bag* .

• To secure the cargo net, first hang the front
hoo ks in the tie-downs then hang the rea r
hooks -arrows -

Cargo bag
• To secure the cargo bag, hang both plastic re­
ta iners in the tie-downs @ and the eyelets @
in the hooks @.
_8. WARNING
The cargo bag ca n hold a max imum o f 10 lbs
(5 kg). Heav ier objects wi ll not be secured
properly, which increases the risk of injury.

You can also use the hooks to hang light p urses,
bags, etc.

The hooks can ho ld a maximum weight o f 6 lb
(3 kg) . Heavier objects are not adequately se­
cured. There is ris k of personal injury .
Reversible mat
Applies to: vehicles with reversible mat
The reversible mat protects the luggage com­
partment and bumper from dirt and scratches.

You can use the reversib le mat w ith the dirt-re­
s istant side or the decorative side . After loading
or unloading, fold up the reversible mat and
close the luggage compartment lid. Only store
the revers ible mat if it is dry.

Warm and cold Climate control system
Description
The climate control system* cools and removes
humidity from the air in the vehicle interior. It is
the most effect ive when the windows and power
top are closed. If there is a build-up of heat in­
side the vehicle, ventilation can help to speed up
the cooling process. Because of this, the windows
can be opened from outside.

Pollutant filter
The pollutant filter removes pollutants such as
dust and pollen from the air.
Key recognition
Different climate control system* settings are
stored and assigned to the remote control key
that is be ing used .
A WARNING
Poor visibility can lead to accidents.
- For safer driving, keep all windows free of
ice, snow and fog.
- Become familiar as quickly as possible with
the correct use and function of the climate
control system, especially with the defrost­
ing and defogging function.
- When the temperature is below freezing,
only use the windshield washer system after
the windshield has been warmed by the cli­
mate control system. The washer fluid could

freeze on the windshield and impair visibili­
ty.
@ Note
- If you suspect that the climate contro l sys­
tem is damaged, switch the system off to
prevent further damage and have it checked
by an authorized Audi dealer or authorized
Audi Service Facility.
- Repairs to the Audi climate control system
require special technical knowledge and
special tools. See an authorized Audi dealer
or authorized Audi Service Fac ility.
@) For the sake of the environment
Reducing the amount of fuel used also re­
duces the amount of pollutants that enter the
air.
(D Tips
- To prevent interference with the heating
and cooling output and to prevent the win­
dows from fogging over, the air intake in
front of the windshield must be free of ice, snow or leaves.
- Condensation from the cooling system* can dr ip and form a pudd le of water under the
vehicle. This is normal and does not mean
there is a leak.
- The energy management system may switch
the seat heating* or rear window defroster
off temporarily . These systems are available
again as soon as the energy supply has been
restored.
- The flows through the vents under the rear
window. Make sure the openings are not
covered when placing clothing on the lug­
gage compartment cover.

The dial adj usts the temperature and the blower
speed . Press the buttons to turn the func tions on
or off. The LED in a button w ill light up when the
function is switched on.

Automatic climate control system
We recomme nd p res sing the IA UTOI but ton and
sett ing t he temper atu re to 72 °f (2 2 °C) . The au­
tomatic climate con trol sys tem autom atically
maintains a temperature once it has been set.
The air tempe rature coming from t he vents , the
b lower speed, and the a ir distribution are also
automatically adjusted. In all heating mode func­
tions except
defrost, the blower only switc hes to
a hig her speed once the eng ine coolant has
reached a ce rtain temperat ure .
IAI C! Switching the cool ing mode on and off
The cooling system is turned on and off w ith the
IA/C l button . The air is not cooled and humidi ty is
not removed when cooling mode is switched off .
This ca n cause fog o n the windows . The cooling
mo de switches off automatically when there are
col d ou tside tempe ra tures.

IAU TO I Switching automatic mode on and off
The au tom atic mode is tur ned o n usi ng the
IAU TOI bu tton. AUTO mo de swi tches off once a
b utton in t he climate cont rol sys tem is pressed .
Automat ic mode maintains a constant tempera ­
ture inside t he vehicle . Air temperature, a irflow
and air distrib ution are controlled automatically.
When automatic mode is active, pressing the
IAU TOI button briefly act ivates the "Eco"
mode*
1>. In "E co " mode* , all settings are low­
ered slightly to save f uel. W hen in "Eco " mod e*,

T he tempe rature can be adjusted indiv id ually for
the d river and front passenger using the dials .
Temperatur es betw een 60 °f (+ 16 °C) and 84 °f
( + 28 ° C) ca n be se t. If outside of this range,
LO or
HI will appear i n the climate cont ro l sys tem dis­
play . In both sett ings , the climate co ntro l ru ns
constantly at the max imum coo ling or heat ing
l eve l. Th e temperature is not regu lated.
Synchronization : by pressing the IAU TO I but ton

driver's side is transferred to the front passeng­
er's side. This applies a temperature change to
the front passenger's side.
~ Adjusting the blower
To prevent the windows from fogging over, the
blower should always run at a low speed. You can
adjust the volume of air generated by the blower
to your preference. To have the blower regulated
automatically, press the
IAUTO ! button.
Adjusting the air distribution
The air distribution is adjusted wi th the ~' [M]
and ~ buttons . To have the air distribution regu­
lated automatically, press the
!AUTOI button.
The round air vents in the cockpit are adjustable
c::>page 63.
To keep the front sid e windows from fogging up
in damp weather, we recommend opening the
side air vents and tilting them to the side

Foot vents are located under the front seats and
adjustable vents on the end of the center console
to heat the rear of the vehicle.
Iii Switching the defroster on and off
The windshield and s ide windows are defrosted
or cleared of condensation as quickly as possible.
The maximum amount of air flows ma inly from
the vents below the windshie ld. Recirculation
mode switches off. The temperature is controlled
automatically. In the
00 setting, the I A/Cl cooling
mode switches on automatically, depending on
the outside air temperature.
The
IAUTOI button switches the defroster off.
16') 1 Switching recirculation mode on and off
The recirculation mode can be turned on manual­
ly or automat ica lly* .
- Switching manual rec irculat ion mode on and
off: press

- Automatic* recirculation mode: auto rec ircula­
t ion needs to be activated in the MMI. Select:

ty sensor that is designed for diesel and gaso­
line exhaust automatically switches the recircu­
lation mode on or off depending on the level of
pollutants in the outside air.
In recirculation mode, the air inside the vehicle is
circulated and filtered. This prevents the unfi l­
tered air outside the vehicle from entering the
vehicle interior. We recommend sw itching recir­
culation mode on when driving through a tunnel
or when sitt ing in traffic

T he system switches to recircu lation mode w hen
driving in reverse when the engine is cold.
A WARNING
-
You should not use the recirculation mode for
an extended period since no fresh a ir is drawn
in. With the air-conditioning switched off, the
windows can fog up, which increases the risk
of an acc ident .
