LONGITUDINAL CLEARANCE
1. Remove the center pillar upper finisher. Refer to INT-24, "CENTER PILLAR UPPER FINISHER : Removal
and Installation".
2. Loosen the rear door upper hinge nuts.
3. Loosen the rear door lower hinge bolts.
4. Move the rear door forward or backward as necessary until within specifications provided.
5. Tighten the lower hinge bolts to specification.
6. Tighten the upper hinge nuts to specification.
7. Install the center pillar upper finisher. Refer to INT-24, "CENTER PILLAR UPPER FINISHER : Removal
and Installation".
SURFACE HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT
1. Loosen the rear door hinge nuts (door side) (A).
2. Move the top and/or the bottom of the rear door (1) in or out as necessary until it is within specifications provided.
3. Tighten the rear door hinge nuts (door side) (A) to specification.
CAUTION:
• Check rear door hinge rotating poin t for poor lubrication. If necessary, apply a suitable multi-pur-
pose grease.
• After adjusting, apply touch-up paint (body color) to the head of rear door hinge bolts and nuts.

Trunk Lid Removed From Hinge
1. Loosen the trunk lid to hinge bolts.
2. Move the trunk lid so that the clearance m easurements are within specifications provided.
3. Tighten the trunk lid to hinge bolts.
Trunk Lid Hinge Removed From Vehicle
1. Remove the rear parcel shelf trim. Refer to INT-26, "Removal and Installation".
2. Loosen the hinge to parcel shelf bolts.
3. Move the trunk lid so that the clearance m easurements are within specifications provided.
4. Tighten the hinge to parcel shelf bolts.
5. Install the rear parcel shelf trim. Refer to INT-26, "Removal and Installation"
.
SURFACE HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT
1. Loosen the bumper rubber.
2. Loosen the striker bolts.
3. Lift up the trunk lid approx. 100 - 150 mm (3.94 - 5.91 in) height then close it lightly. Make sure it engages
firmly with the trunk lid closed.
4. Tighten the trunk lid striker.

REMOVAL
1. Remove trunk lid assembly. Refer to DLK-206, "TRUNK LID ASSEMBLY : Removal and Installation".
2. Remove torsion bar. Refer to DLK-210, "TORSION BAR : Removal and Installation"

3. Remove rear parcel shelf finisher. Refer to INT-26, "Removal and Installation"
.
4. Release rear washer tube clips (RH only) (if equipped).
5. Remove trunk lid hinge bolts (body side) and then trunk lid hinge.
INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
CAUTION:
• Check trunk lid open/close, lock/un lock operation after installation.
• After installation, perform the trunk li d assembly adjustment procedure. Refer to DLK-208, "TRUNK
LID ASSEMBLY : Adjustment".

FUEL FILLER LID OPENER
3. Remove fuel filler lid screws (A) and fuel filler lid (1).
INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
CAUTION:
After installation, check fuel filler li d assembly open/close, lock/unlock operation.
NOTE:
• The following table shows the specifications for a correctly installed fuel filler lid.
• Fitting adjustment cannot be performed.

1. Remove hood and fuel filler handle assembly bolts (A).
2. Disengage fuel filler lid opener cable (2) by pulling downward and then sliding cable end to the side to remove from hood and
fuel filler handle assembly (1).
3. Remove dash side finisher (LH). Refer to INT-20, "DASH SIDE FINISHER : Removal and Installation"
.
4. Remove center pillar lower finisher (LH). Refer to INT-23, "CENTER PILLAR LOWER FINISHER :
Removal and Installation".
5. Remove rear seat bolster (LH). Refer to SE-38, "Removal and Installation - Rear Seat Bolster"

3. Check the continuity between A/F sensor
1 harness connector and ECM harness connector.

4. Also check harness for short to ground and to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> GO TO 3.
NO >> Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
3.CHECK A/F SENSOR 1 HEATER
Check the A/F sensor 1 heater. Refer to EC-216, "Component Inspection"
.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> Check intermittent incident. Refer to GI-43, "Intermittent Incident".
NO >> GO TO 4.
4.REPLACE AIR FUEL RATIO (A/F) SENSOR 1
Replace malfunctioning air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor 1. Refer to EM-33, "Exploded View"
.
CAUTION:
• Discard any A/F sensor which has b een dropped from a height of more than 0.5 m (19.7 in) onto a
hard surface such as a concrete floor; use a new one.
• Before installing new A/F sensor, clean exhau st system threads using Oxygen Sensor Thread
Cleaner [commercial service tool (J-43897-18 or J-43897-12)] and approved Anti-seize Lubricant
(commercial service tool).

REMOVAL
1. Remove the engine under cover. Refer to
EXT-17, "Removal and Installation".
2. Remove the exhaust front tube. Refer to EX-5, "Exploded View"
.
3. Remove the front air duct and air cleaner assembly. Refer to EM-29, "Removal and Installation"
.
4. Disconnect the air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor 1 electrical harness connector.
5. Remove the exhaust manifold cover (upper).
6. Remove the air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor 1 (1) using Tools (A), (if necessary).
CAUTION:
• Be careful not to damage air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor.
• Discard any air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor which has been
dropped from a height of more than 0.5 m (19.7 in) onto a
hard surface such as a concrete floor; replace with a new
one.
7. Remove the oil level gauge and oil level gauge guide. Refer to EM-36, "Exploded View"
.
8. Remove the exhaust manifold cover (lower front).

4. Install the exhaust manifold cover (lower front) and bolts. Then
tighten the bolts to specification in the numerical order shown.
CAUTION:
Do not reuse bolts.
5. Install the air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor 1 (1) using Tools (A) and tighten to specification.
CAUTION:
• Be careful not to damage air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor.
• Discard any air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor which has been
dropped from a height of more than 0.5 m (19.7 in) onto a
hard surface such as a concrete floor; replace with a new
one.
• Do not over-tighten the air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor 1. Doing so may cause damage to the air fuel
ratio (A/F) sensor 1, r esulting in a malfunction and the MIL coming on.
6. Install the exhaust manifold cover (upper). Then tighten the bolts to specification in the numerical order shown.
CAUTION:
Do not reuse bolts.
7. Installation of the remaining components is in the reverse order of removal.

CAMSHAFT
12. Loosen the camshaft bracket bolts in the order as shown, and
remove the camshaft brackets and camshafts.
NOTE:
Remove No.1 camshaft bracket by slightly tapping it with a rub-
ber mallet.
13. Remove the valve lifters. NOTE:
Check mounting positions, and set them aside in the order removed.
INSPECTION AFTER REMOVAL
Oil Filter
• Check that there is no foreign material on the oil filter (1) and check for clogging.
• Check the oil filter for damage.
• If there is damage, replace the oil filter.
Camshaft Runout
1. Put the camshaft on a V-block supporting the No.2 and No.5 journals.
CAUTION:
Do not support the No. 1 journal (on the side of the cam-
shaft sprocket) because it has different diameter from the
other four locations.
2. Set the dial gauge (A) vertically on the No.3 journal.
3. Turn camshaft in one direction by hand, and measure the cam- shaft runout on the dial gauge total indicator reading.
Camshaft Cam Height
1. Measure the camshaft cam height using suitable tool (A).
2. If wear is beyond the limit, replace the camshaft.
