zWhen the ABS is activated, you may feelthe brake pedal pulsation and the vibra-tions of the vehicle body and steeringwheel. You may also hear a characteristicnoise. At this time, you may feel as if thepedal attempts to resist being depressed.This is a normal result of the ABS opera-tion, and does not indicate a problem.If this situation occurs, depress thebrake pedal more firmly in order tooperate the ABS. Do not pump thebrake. This will result in reduced brak-ing performance.zYo u w i l l h e a r t h e o p e r a t i o n s o u n d o f t h emotor coming from the Plug-in HybridEV System compartment immediatelyfollowing start off after starting the Plug-in Hybrid EV System. If the brake pedalis depressed at that moment, a brake pedalpulsating is felt.This pulsation is due to the self-diagnosisoperation of the ABS and does not indi-cate a malfunction.zThe ABS becomes operative after thevehicle has accelerated to a speed inexcess of about 10 km/h. It stops operat-ing when the vehicle decelerates to aspeed below about 5 km/h.

Wa r n i n g d i s p l a yIf there is a malfunction in the system, theABS warning lamp will come on and thewarning display will appear on the informa-tion screen in the multi information display.Under normal conditions, the ABS warninglamp only comes on when the operationmode is put in ON and goes off a few secondslater.

WA R N I N GzDo not stop the Plug-in Hybrid EV Systemwhile the vehicle is moving. Stopping thePlug-in Hybrid EV System would makethe steering wheel extremely hard to turn,possibly resulting in an accident.
NOTE
zDuring repeated full-lock turning of thesteering wheel (for example, while you aremanoeuvring the vehicle into a parkingspace), a protection function may be acti-vated to prevent overheating of the powersteering system. This function will make thesteering wheel gradually harder to turn. Inthis event, limit your turning of the steeringwheel for a while. When the system hascooled down, the steering effort will returnto normal.zIf you turn the steering wheel while the vehi-cle is stationary with the headlamps on, theheadlamps may become dim. This behaviouris not abnormal. The headlamps will returnto their original brightness after a shortwhile.

The ASC is automatically activated when theoperation mode is put in ON. You can deacti-vate the system by pressing down the “ASCOFF” switch for 3 seconds or longer.When the ASC is deactivated, the indica-tor will turn on. The Speed Limiter is a driver assist functionto prevent from exceeding the speed set bydriver while Plug-in Hybrid EV Systempower control.If the vehicle speed exceeds the set speed(about 3 km/h), the indicator will brink in thecombination meter.If the vehicle speed exceeds the set speedabout +3 km/h more than about 5 secondsafter indicated alert message, beep alert issounded for about 10 seconds at the most.While running without alert message, if youdecrease the set speed and vehicle speed ismore than set speed about +3 km/h, alert mes-sage is displayed but beep alert is delayed.In this case, when vehicle speed keepsexceeding set speed about +3 km/h for about30 seconds after the alert message isappeared, beep alert is sounded for about 10seconds at the most.
If the vehicle speeds decreases less than setspeeds after the alert message is appeared, themessage is disappeared. When beep alert issounding, the beep alert also goes off.

zKeep sparks, cigarettes and flames awayfrom the battery because the battery mayproduce an explosion.CAUTIONzThe Plug-in Hybrid EV system cannot bestarted by pulling or pushing the vehicle.zCheck the other vehicle.
It must have a 12-
volt battery. If the other system isn’t 12-volt,shorting can damage
both vehicles.
zUse the proper cables suitable for the batterysize to prevent overhea
ting of the cables.
zCheck the jumper cables for damage and cor-rosion before use.zAlways wear protect
ive eye goggles when
working near the battery.zKeep the battery out of the reach of children.zDo not attempt jump starting the auxiliarybattery while the drive battery is beingcharged. Doing so could damage the vehicleor charging equipment.NOTE
zIf the auxiliary battery is disconnected, theoperation mode of the power switch is mem-orized. When a booster
battery is connected
by jumper cables, the operation mode returnsto the state before the auxiliary battery rundown.Pay due attention if you do not know theoperation mode before
the auxiliary battery
was fully discharged.zIf the auxiliary battery is fully dischargedwith the select position in the “P” (PARK)position, the select position cannot bechanged to other position from the “P”(PARK) position in some cases. 15. Check and adjust the tyre pressure with
reference to the air pressure gauge on thecompressor. If you overinflate the tyre,release air by loosening the hose’s end fit-ting.If there is a gap between the tyre andwheel because the tyre has moved inwardfrom the wheel rim, press the periphery ofthe tyre towards the wheel to close the gapbefore running the compressor. (With nogaps, the tyre pressure will rise.)
16. Turn OFF the compressor switch, then
pull the power cord plug out of the socket.
17. Affix the speed restriction sticker (R) to
the three-diamond mark on the steeringwheel.
zAny sand or dust sucked into the compressorcould make the compressor break down. Donot place the compressor directly on anysandy or dusty surface when using it.zDo not disassemble or
modify the compres-
sor. Also, do not subject the air pressuregauge to shock. It
could malfunction.
CAUTIONzBe careful not to get your fingers trappedbetween the tyre and wheel as the tyreinflates.zThe surface of the compressor will get hotwhile the compressor is running. Do notkeep the compressor running continuouslyfor more than 10 minutes. After using thecompressor, wait for the compressor to coolbefore using it again.CAUTION
zIf the compressor becomes sluggish or hotwhile operating, it is overheating. Immedi-ately place the switch in the OFF positionand let the compressor cool down for at least30 minutes.NOTE
zIf the tyre pressure does not rise to the speci-fied level within 10 minutes, the tyre may beso severely damaged that the tyre sealantcannot be used to effect an emergency repair.Please contact a MITSUBISHI MOTORSAuthorised Service Poin
