The windscreen washer can be operated withthe operation mode of the power switch inON or ACC.The washer fluid will be sprayed onto thewindscreen by pulling the lever towards you.When the wipers are not in operation or inintermittent operation, by pulling the levertowards you, the wipers will operate severaltimes while the washer fluid is being sprayed.Except for vehicles for Russia, Kazakhstanand Ukraine, then about 6 seconds later, wip-ers operate once more.On vehicles equipped with the headlampwasher, while the headlamps are on, the head-lamp washer will operate once together withthe windscreen washer.
Also, except for vehicles for Russia, Kazakh-stan and Ukraine, by releasing the lever soonafter pulling it towards you, the washer fluidswill be sprayed several times while the wip-ers are operating several times. (Intelligentwasher) Then about 6 seconds later, wipersoperate once more.Intelligent washer will stop operating withany operation of the lever.

zIf the moving wipers become blocked byice or other deposits on the glass, themotor may burn out even if the wiperswitch is turned to OFF. If obstructionoccurs, park your vehicle in a safe place,stop the Plug-in Hybrid EV System, andclean the deposits from the glass so thatthe wipers operate smoothly.zDo not use the wipers when the glass isdry.They may scratch the glass surface andthe blades wear out prematurely.zBefore using the wipers in cold weather,check that the wiper blades are not frozenonto the glass. The motor may burn out ifthe wipers are used with the blades frozenonto the glass.zAv o i d u s i n g t h e w a s h e r c o n t i n u o u s l y f o rmore than 20 seconds. Do not operate thewasher when the fluid reservoir is empty.Otherwise, the motor may burn out.
zPeriodically check the level of washerfluid in the reservoir and refill if required.During cold weather, add a recommendedwasher solution that will not freeze in thewasher reservoir. Failure to do so couldresult in loss of washer function and frostdamage to the system components.

The rear window demister switch can beoperated when the Plug-in Hybrid EV Systemis operating.When the front wipers have frozen to thewindscreen at the parked positions, turningon this switch will heat the windscreen tomake the wipers operable. Press the rear win-dow demister switch and the deicer will oper-ate.

The rear window demister switch can beoperated when the operation mode of thepower switch is in ON.Push the switch to turn on the rear windowdemister. It will be turned off automatically inabout 15 to 20 minutes depending on the out-side temperature. To turn off the demisterwhile it is operating, push the switch again.The indicator lamp (A) will illuminate whilethe demister is on.

This system operates when you are backingthe vehicle. It uses corner and back sensors todetect an obstacle and the information screenin the multi information display and thebuzzer to inform you of the approximate dis-tance to the obstacle.

The detection areas of the corner and backsensors are limited to those shown in theillustration. Moreover, the sensors are unableto detect low or thin objects or objects nearthe rear bumper. Thus, make sure to check thesurroundings as you operate the vehicle in asafe manner.There are two corner sensors (A) at the cor-ners of the rear bumper, and two back sensors(B) in the centre of the rear bumper.

Sea water contains salt, which generallyaccelerates corrosion of both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Wind born spray from thesea can distribute salt for a distance of up to20 km from the shore line with prevailing on-shore winds, although the effect is generallyworse within 2 km of the shore. Salt spraycovers roads, and may be passed to your vehi-cle as dust, or as salt spray after rain. For thisreason it is important to wash all the vehicleincluding the underside (not forgetting theplug-in hybrid EV system bay and plug-inhybrid EV system bay components). See sec-tion entitled “Engine compartment” for rec-ommended cleaning practices.Ensure you request a MITSUBISHIMOTORS Authorised Service Point to con-duct the scheduled Preventative Maintenancecorrosion inspection if you live within 20 kmof the sea. They may cause heat distortion and damageto the vehicle resin parts and may result inflooding of the vehicle interior.Therefore;•Maintain a distance of approx. 70 cm ormore between the vehicle body and thewashing nozzle.•When washing around the door glass, holdthe nozzle at a distance of more than 70 cmand at right angles to the glass surface.
zAfter washing the vehicle, drive the vehicleslowly while lightly depressing the brakepedal several times in order to dry out thebrakes.Leaving the brakes wet could result inreduced braking performance. Also, there isa possibility that they could freeze up orbecome inoperative due
to rust, rendering the
vehicle unable to move.zUsing an automatic car wash, pay attentionto the following items, referring to the opera-tion manual or consulting a car wash opera-tor. The salt and other chemicals spread on theroads in some areas in winter can have aharmful effect on the vehicle body. Youshould therefore wash the vehicle as often aspossible in accordance with our care-instruc-tions. It is recommended to have a preserva-tive applied and the underfloor protectionchecked before and after the cold weatherseason.After washing your vehicle, wipe off allwaterdrops from the rubber parts around thedoors to prevent the doors from freezing.

2. Raise the bonnet while pressing the safetylock.3. Support the bonnet by inserting the sup-port bar in its slot.
1. Unlatch the support bar and clip it in itsholder.2. Slowly lower the bonnet to a positionabout 20 cm above the closed position,then let it drop.3. Make sure the bonnet is securely lockedby softly lifting the centre of the bonnet.
NOTE
zOnly open the bonnet when the wipers are inthe parked position. In any other position,the wipers could damage the paint or bonnet.
CAUTIONzNote that the support bar may disengage thebonnet if the open bonnet is lifted by a strongwind.zAfter inserting the support bar into the slot,make sure the bar supports the bonnetsecurely from falling down on to your heador body.
