2014 FORD FUSION (AMERICAS) light

The illuminated entry system will turn offthe lights if:
•the ignition is on,
•you press the remote control lockbutton, or
•after 25 seconds of illumination.
The lights will not turn off if:
•you turn them on with the lamp control,or
•any door is open.
Illuminated Exit
The interior lamps and select exteriorlamps will illuminate when all doors areclosed, you switch the ignition off and youremove the key from the ignition(integrated keyhead transmitter only).
The lamps will turn off if all the doorsremain closed and:
•25 seconds elapse
•you insert the key in the ignition(integrated keyhead transmitter only)
•you press the START/STOP button(intelligent access key only).
Battery Saver
If you leave the courtesy lamps, domelamps or headlamps on, the battery saverwill shut them off 10 minutes after youswitch the ignition off.
Accessory Mode Battery Saver forIntelligent Access Keys (If Equipped)
If you leave your vehicle in the run ignitionstate, it will shut off once it detects acertain amount of battery drain or after 45minutes.
Luggage Compartment
With the Remote Control
Press twice within three secondsto unlatch the trunk.
From Outside Your Vehicle
Press the release button above the licenseplate to unlatch the trunk. Your vehiclemust be unlocked or have an intelligentaccess transmitter within 3 feet (1 meter)of the trunk.
KEYLESS ENTRY (IF EQUIPPED)
SECURICODE™ KEYLESS ENTRYKEYPAD
The keypad is located near the driverwindow. It is invisible until touched andthen it lights up so you can see and touchthe appropriate buttons.
Note:If you enter your entry code too faston the keypad, the unlock function may notwork. Re-enter your entry code more slowly.

Keep vehicle doors and luggagecompartment locked and keep keysand remote transmitters out of achild’s reach. Unsupervised children couldlock themselves in the trunk and risk injury.Children should be taught not to play invehicles.
Do not leave children, unreliableadults, or animals unattended in thevehicle. On hot days, thetemperature in the trunk or vehicle interiorcan rise very quickly. Exposure of peopleor animals to these high temperatures foreven a short time can cause death orserious heat-related injuries, including braindamage. Small children are particularly atrisk.
Your vehicle is equipped with a releasehandle that provides a means of escapefor children and adults if they becomelocked inside the luggage compartment.
Adults should familiarize themselves withthe operation and location of the releasehandle.
The handle is located inside the luggagecompartment either on the luggagecompartment door (lid) or near the taillamps. It is composed of a material thatwill glow for hours in darkness followingbrief exposure to ambient light.
Pull the handle and push up on the luggagecompartment door (lid) to open fromwithin the luggage compartment.

Push the lever forward to switch the highbeams on.
Push the lever forward again or pull thelever toward you to switch the high beamsoff.
Headlamp Flasher
Pull the lever toward you slightly andrelease it to flash the headlamps.
AUTOLAMPS (IF EQUIPPED)
The headlamps will switch on and offautomatically in low light situations orduring inclement weather.
The headlamps will remain on for a periodof time after you switch the ignition off.Use the information display controls toadjust the period of time that theheadlamps will remain on. SeeInformation Displays (page 87).

When the headlamp switch is in theAutolamps position, the windshield wiperactivated exterior lamps will turn on within10 seconds when you switch thewindshield wipers on. The exterior lampswill turn off approximately 60 secondsafter you switch the windshield wipers off.
This feature does not turn on the exteriorlamps:
•during a mist wipe
•while the wipers are on to clear washerfluid during a wash condition
•if the wipers are in automatic orintermittent modes.
Note:If you have autolamps andautowipers switched on the low beamheadlamps will turn on automatically whenthe windshield wipers operate continuously.
Note:You may have to manually switchthe headlamps on in severe weatherconditions.
Note:If you have autolamps switched onyou can only switch the high beamheadlamps on once the system has turnedthe headlamps on.

Note:If you disconnect the battery or itbecomes discharged, the illuminatedcomponents will switch to the maximumsetting.

HEADLAMP EXIT DELAY
After you switch the ignition off, you canswitch the headlamps on by pulling thedirection indicator lever toward you. Youwill hear a short tone. The headlamps willswitch off automatically after threeminutes with any door open or 30 secondsafter the last door has been closed. Youcan cancel this feature by pulling thedirection indicator toward you again orswitching the ignition on.
DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS (IF
EQUIPPED)
WARNING
Always remember to switch yourheadlamps on in low light situationsor during inclement weather. Thesystem does not activate the tail lampsand may not provide adequate lightingduring these conditions. Failure to activateyour headlamps under these conditionsmay result in a collision.
The system switches the low beamheadlamps on at a reduced intensity indaylight conditions.
To switch the system on, switch theignition on, and switch the lighting controlto the off, autolamp or parking lampposition.
AUTOMATIC HIGH BEAM
CONTROL (IF EQUIPPED)
The system will automatically turn on yourhigh beams if it is dark enough and no othertraffic is present. When it detects theheadlights of an approaching vehicle, thetail lamps of the preceding vehicle or streetlighting, the system will turn off the highbeams before they distract other drivers.The low beams remain on.
Note:If it appears that automatic controlof the high beams is not functioningproperly, check the windshield in front ofthe camera for a blockage. A clear view ofthe road is required for proper systemoperation. Have any windshield damage inthe area of the camera’s field-of-viewrepaired.
Note:If the system detects a blockage suchas bird droppings, bug splatter, snow or ice,and you do not observe changes, the systemwill go into low beam mode until you clearthe blockage. A message may also appearin the instrument cluster display noting thefront camera is blocked.
Note:Typical road dust, dirt and waterspots will not affect the performance of theautomatic high beam system . However, incold or inclement weather conditions, youwill notice a decrease in the availability ofthe high beam system, especially at startup. If you want to change the beam stateindependently of the system, you mayswitch the high beams on or off using themultifunction switch. Automatic control willresume when conditions are correct.
Note:Modification of the vehicle ride heightsuch as using much larger tires, maydegrade feature performance.
A camera sensor, centrally mountedbehind the windshield of your vehicle,continuously monitors conditions to decidewhen to switch the high beams off and on.

Once the system is active, the high beamswill switch on if:
•the ambient light level is low enough
•there is no traffic in front of the vehicle
•the vehicle speed is greater than25 mph (40 km/h)
The high beams will switch off if:
•the system detects the headlamps ofan approaching vehicle or the taillamps of a preceding vehicle.
•vehicle speed falls below 16 mph(25 km/h)
•the ambient light level is high enoughthat high beams are not required
•the system detects severe rain, snowor fog
•the camera is blocked
Activating the System
Switch on the system using the informationdisplay and autolamps. See InformationDisplays (page 87). See Autolamps(page 69).
Switch the lighting control to theautolamps position.
Manually Overriding the System
When the automatic control has activatedthe high beams, pushing or pulling the stalkwill provide a temporary override to lowbeam.
Use the information display menu topermanently deactivate the system, or turnthe lighting control switch from autolampsto headlamps.
FRONT FOG LAMPS (IF EQUIPPED)
Press the control to switch the fog lampson or off.
You can switch the fog lamps on when thelighting control is in any position exceptOff and the high beams are not on.

DIRECTION INDICATORS
Push the lever up or down to use thedirection indicators.
Note:Tap the lever up or down to make thedirection indicators flash three times toindicate a lane change.
INTERIOR LAMPS
The lamps will turn on when you have metone of the following conditions:
•You open any door.
•You press a remote control button.
•You press button A on the front interiorlamp.
Front Interior Lamp
Note:The front interior lamp buttons areon the overhead console. The exact locationof each button on the overhead consoledepends upon which roof, sunroof, andwindow shade features are equipped on thevehicle.
Note:Press button C to switch the doorfunction off when you open any door. Theindicator lamp will light amber when thedoor function is off. When the door functionis off and you open a door, the courtesy anddoor lamps will stay off. Press button Cagain to switch the door function back on.The indicator lamp will light blue when thedoor function is on. When the door functionis on and you open a door, the courtesy anddoor lamps will light.
