2014 FORD FUSION (AMERICAS) airbag disable

Children must always be properlyrestrained. Accident statistics suggest thatchildren are safer when properly restrainedin the rear seating positions than in thefront seating position. Failure to followthese instructions may increase the risk ofinjury in a crash.
FRONT PASSENGER SENSING

WARNINGS
Even with Advanced RestraintsSystems, children 12 and undershould be properly restrained in arear seating position. Failure to follow thiscould seriously increase the risk of injury ordeath.
Sitting improperly out of position orwith the seat back reclined too farcan take off weight from the seatcushion and affect the decision of the frontpassenger sensing system, resulting inserious injury or death in a crash.
To reduce the risk of possible seriousinjury: Do not stow objects in seatback map pocket or hang objects offseat back if a child is in the front passengerseat. Do not place objects underneath thefront passenger seat or between the seat
WARNINGS
and the center console. Check thepassenger airbag off or pass airbag offindicator lamp for proper airbag status.Failure to follow these instructions mayinterfere with the front passenger seatsensing system.
Any alteration or modification to thefront passenger seat may affect theperformance of the front passengersensing system.
This system works with sensors that arepart of the front passenger’s seat andsafety belt to detect the presence of aproperly-seated occupant and determineif the front passenger’s frontal airbagshould be enabled (may inflate) or not.
The front passenger sensing system usesa pass airbag off indicator which willilluminate and stay lit to remind you thatthe front passenger frontal airbag isdisabled.
The indicator lamp is located at the topcenter of the instrument panel.
Note:When the ignition is first tuned on,the indicator lamp will illuminate for a shortperiod of time to confirm it is functional.
The front passenger sensing system isdesigned to disable (will not inflate) thefront passenger's frontal airbag when arear facing infant seat, a forward-facingchild restraint, or a booster seat isdetected. Even with this technology,

parents are STRONGLY encouraged toalways properly restrain children in the rearseat. The sensor also turns off thepassenger front airbag and seat-mountedside airbag when the passenger seat isempty.
•When the front passenger sensingsystem disables (will not inflate) thefront passenger frontal airbag, theindicator lamp will illuminate and staylit to remind you that the frontpassenger frontal airbag is disabled.
•If the child restraint has been installedand the indicator lamp is not lit, thenturn the vehicle off, remove the childrestraint from the vehicle and reinstallthe restraint following the childrestraint manufacturer's instructions.
The front passenger sensing system isdesigned to enable (may inflate) the frontpassenger's frontal airbag anytime thesystem senses that a person of adult sizeis sitting properly in the front passengerseat.
•When the front passenger sensingsystem enables the front passengerfrontal airbag (may inflate), theindicator lamp will be unlit and stayunlit.
If a person of adult size is sitting in the frontpassenger’s seat, but the airbag offindicator lamp is lit, it is possible that theperson isn’t sitting properly in the seat. Ifthis happens:
•Turn the vehicle off and ask the personto place the seat back in the full uprightposition.
•Have the person sit upright in the seat,centered on the seat cushion, with theperson’s legs comfortably extended.
•Restart the vehicle and have the personremain in this position for about twominutes. This will allow the system todetect that person and enable thepassenger’s frontal airbag.
•If the indicator lamp remains lit evenafter this, the person should be advisedto ride in the rear seat.

Note:When the passenger airbag off lightis illuminated, the passenger (seatmounted) side airbag may be disabled toavoid the risk of airbag deployment injuries.
After all occupants have adjusted theirseats and put on safety belts, it is veryimportant that they continue to sitproperly. A properly seated occupant sitsupright, leaning against the seat back, andcentered on the seat cushion, with theirfeet comfortably extended on the floor.Sitting improperly can increase the chance
of injury in a crash event. For example, ifan occupant slouches, lies down, turnssideways, sits forward, leans forward orsideways, or puts one or both feet up, thechance of injury during a crash is greatlyincreased.

Jump Starting
1.Start the engine of the booster vehicleand rev the engine moderately, or pressthe accelerator gently to keep yourengine speed between 2000 and 3000rpms, as shown in your tachometer.
2.Start the engine of the disabled vehicle.
3.Once the disabled vehicle has beenstarted, run both vehicle engines for anadditional three minutes beforedisconnecting the jumper cables.
Removing the Jumper Cables
Remove the jumper cables in the reverseorder that they were connected.
1.Remove the jumper cable from theground metal surface or connectingpoint, if available.
2.Remove the jumper cable on thenegative (-) terminal of the boostervehicle's battery.
3.Remove the jumper cable from thepositive (+) terminal of the boostervehicle's battery.
4.Remove the jumper cable from thepositive (+) terminal of the disabledvehicle's battery.
After the disabled vehicle has been startedand the jumper cables removed, allow itto idle for several minutes so the batterycan recharge.
POST-CRASH ALERT SYSTEM
The system flashes the turn signal lampsand sounds the horn (intermittently) in theevent of a serious impact that deploys anairbag (front, side, side curtain or SafetyCanopy) or the safety belt pretensioners.
The horn and lamps will turn off when:
•The hazard control button is pressed
•The panic button (if equipped) ispressed on the remote entrytransmitter
•Your vehicle runs out of power
Spinout Detection
If a spinout is detected, the vehicle comesto a stop and the hazard warning flasherscome on. The message Spinout DetectedHazards Activated will also appear onthe instrument cluster. The message maynot appear if your vehicle runs out ofpower.
Once the hazard warning flashers havebeen activated, you can turn them off by:
•Pressing the hazard warning flasherbutton
•Pressing the remote control unlockbutton
