The air conditioning system does
not contain chlorine and does not
present any danger to the ozone
layer.
In order for these systems to be fully effective, follow the operation and
maintenance guidelines below:
If the interior temperature remains very high after the vehicle has been
p a r k e d i n t h e s u n f o r a c o n s i d e r a b l e t i m e , fi r s t v e n t i l a t e t h e p a s s e n g e r
compartment for a few minutes.
P l a c e t h e a i r fl o w c o n t r o l a t a s u f fi c i e n t l e v e l t o p r o v i d e a n a d e q u a t e r e n e w a l
of air in the passenger compartment.
To obtain an even air distribution, take care not to obst ruct the exterior air
intake grille located on the bonnet, the vents and the a ir passages under
the front seats.
Operate the air conditioning system for 5 to 10 minutes, on ce or twice a
month to keep it in good working order.
E n s u r e t h a t t h e p a s s e n g e r c o m p a r t m e n t fi l t e r i s i n g o o d c o n d i t i o n a n d
h a v e t h e fi l t e r e l e m e n t s r e p l a c e d r e g u l a r l y ( r e f e r t o t h e " C h e c k s " s e c t i o n ) .

of the air breathed by the occupants and the cleanliness of the passenger
compartment (reduction of allergic symptoms, bad odours and greasy
deposits).
To ensure correct operation of the air conditioning system, you are also
advised to have it checked regularly.
If the system does not produce cold air, do not u se it and contact a PEUGEOT
dealer.
When towing the maximum load on a steep gradient in high temperatures,
switching off the air conditioning saves engine power and t herefore improves
towing capacity.
The condensation created by the air conditioning results in a discharge of
water under the vehicle which is perfectly normal.

HEATING/VENTILATION
The heating and ventilation can only operate when the engine is running.
1. Temperature adjustment
Turn the control from blue (cold) to red
(hot) to adjust the temperature to suit
your requirements. Windscreen and side windows
(demisting/defrosting).
2. Air distribution adjustment
Windscreen, side windows and
footwells. Footwells.
Centre and side vents.
The air distribution can be adjusted by
placing the control in an intermediate
position. 3 . A i r fl o w a d j u s t m e n t
Turn the control from position 1
to position 4 to obtain an air
fl o w s u f fi c i e n t t o e n s u r e y o u r
comfort.
4. Air intake/Air recirculation
The recirculation of interior air prevents
exterior odours and smoke entering the
passenger compartment.
The intake of exterior air prevents and
eliminates misting of the windscreen
and side windows. Air intake.
Air recirculation.
Move the manual control 4 to the right for
t h e " I n t e r i o r a i r r e c i r c u l a t i o n " p o s i t i o n .
Move the manual control 4 to the left to
r e t u r n t o t h e " E x t e r i o r a i r i n t a k e " p o s i t i o n
as soon as possible to prevent deteriora-
tion of the air quality.
These settings are recommended for
cold climates.
This setting is recommended for hot
climates.

MANUAL AIR CONDITIONING
The air conditioning system can only operate when the engine is running.
1. Temperature adjustment

Used simultaneously with the air condi-
tioning, the air recirculation improves its
performance.
Used in a damp climate, the air recircu-
lation may cause condensation to form
on the windows.
Return to exterior air intake mode as soon
as possible to avoid deterioration of the
air quality and prevent conden sation.
Move the manual control to

Turn the dial from position 1

due to the movement of the vehicle,
can still be felt.

Demisting - defrosting
To quickly demist or defrost the wind-
screen and side windows:
place the air intake control 4 in the
" E x t e r i o r a i r i n t a k e " p o s i t i o n ,
place the air distribution dial 3 in the
" W i n d s c r e e n " p o s i t i o n ,
place the temperature dial 1 and the
a i r fl o w d i a l 2 in the maximum posi-
tion,
close the central vents,
switch on the air conditioning by
pressing the "A/C" button.
5. Air conditioning On/Off

Press the "A/C" button, the associated
indicator lamp comes on.
The air conditioning does not operate
w h e n t h e a i r fl o w a d j u s t m e n t d i a l 2 i s
in position "OFF".

Press the "A/C" button again, the
associated indicator lamp switches
off.
HEATED REAR SCREEN
S w i t c h i n g o n
The heated rear screen can only oper-
ate when the engine is running.
Press this button to demist/defrost the
rear screen. The indicator lamp asso-
ciated with the button comes on.
S w i t c h i n g o f f
The heated rear screen switches off
automatically to prevent an excessive
consumption of current.
It is possible to stop the demist-
ing/defrosting operation before it is
switched off automatically by press-
ing the button again. The indicator
lamp associated with the button
switches off.
If the engine is switched off before the
heated rear screen is switched off auto-
matically, demisting/defrosting will resume
next time the engine is switched on.
Switch off the heated rear screen as
soon as appropriate as lower cur-
rent consumption results in reduced
fuel consumption. The control button is located on
the air conditioning system con-
trol panel.
The air conditioning is designed
to operate effectively in all sea-
sons, with the windows closed.
It enables you to:
- lower the temperature, in summer,
- increase the effectiveness of the demisting, in winter above 0 °C.

DIGITAL AIR CONDITIONING

The value indicated on the display cor-
responds to a level of comfort and not
to a temperature in degrees Celsius or
Fahrenheit.
3. Automatic visibility programme
The automatic comfort programme may
n o t b e s u f fi c i e n t t o q u i c k l y d e m i s t o r d e -
frost the windscreen and side windows
(humidity, several passengers, ice...).
This system is designed to operate
effectively in all seasons, with the win-
dows closed.
When the engine is cold, to prevent
too great a distribution of cold air, the
a i r fl o w w i l l o n l y r e a c h i t s o p t i m u m l e v e l
gradually.
In cold weather, it favours the distribu-
tion of warm air to the windscreen, the
side windows and the footwells only.
The air conditioning can only operate with the engine ru
nning.
Press the "AUTO" button.
The "AUTO" symbol is dis-
played.
Press the arrows 1 (up and
down) to change this value.
In this case, select the auto-
matic visibility programme.
We recommend that you use this mode:
it provides optimised automatic con-
trol of all of the functions, passenger
c o m p a r t m e n t t e m p e r a t u r e , a i r fl o w ,
air distribution and air recirculation, in
accordance with the comfort value that
you have selected. The system automatically controls the
a i r c o n d i t i o n i n g , t h e a i r fl o w a n d t h e a i r
intake and provides optimum distribu-
tion of the ventilation to the windscreen
and side windows.
To exit this programme, press the
"AUTO" button again.
A setting around 21 provides an opti-
mum level of comfort. Depending on
your requirements, a setting between
18 and 24 is usual.
On entering the vehicle, if the interior
temperature is much colder or warmer
than the comfort value, there is no need
to alter the value displayed in order to
obtain the required level of comfort. The
system corrects the temperature differ-
ence automatically and as quickly as
possible.

Steering lock
Before starting, unlock the steering, if
necessary, by turning the steering wheel
slightly while turning the key.
It is advisable to press the clutch pedal
whle operating the starter to facilitate
the starting of the engine. ELECTRONIC ENGINE
IMMOBILISER
This locks the engine management sys-
tem as soon as the ignition has been
switched off and therefore prevents
starting of the vehicle by anyone who
does not have the key.
The ignition key has an electronic chip
which has a special code. When the ig-
nition is switched on, the code must be
recognised for starting to be possible.
If the system does not function cor-
rectly, the central locking button indica-
tor lamp, situated on the centre console,
fl a s h e s r a p i d l y w h e n t h e i g n i t i o n i s
switched on (2nd notch).
In this case your vehicle will not start.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as
possible.
Key in ignition
If the key is left in the ignition, this
is indicated by an audible signal
when the driver's door is opened.
Locating your vehicle
To locate your vehicle, if you have
locked it, in a car park:
press button A , the courtesy lamps
come on and the direction indicators
fl a s h f o r a f e w s e c o n d s . Changing the remote control
battery
Battery ref.: CR2016/3 volts.
I f t h e r e m o t e c o n t r o l b a t t e r y i s fl a t , y o u
are warned by a message on display B.
To replace the battery, remove the
screw then unclip the casing using a
coin at the ring.
If the remote control does not work after
the battery has been changed, repro-
gramme the remote control.
Reinitialising the remote control
Switch off the ignition.
Switch the ignition on again.
Press button A immediately for a
few seconds.
Switch off the ignition and remove
the remote control key from the igni-
tion lock. The remote control is now
working again.
