Auto Active Test INFOID:0000000004306659
DESCRIPTION • In auto active test mode, operation inspection can be performed when IPDM E/R sends a drive signal to the
following systems:
- Rear window defogger
- Front wipers
- Tail, license and parking lamps
- Daytime lamp system (Canada only)
- Front fog lamps
- Headlamps (High, Low)
- A/C compressor (magnet clutch)
- Cooling fan
OPERATION PROCEDURE 1. Close hood and front door RH, and lift wiper arms away from windshield (to prevent glass damage by
wiper operation).
NOTE:
When auto active test is performed with hood opened, sprinkle water on windshield beforehand.
2. Turn ignition switch OFF.
3. Turn ignition switch ON and, within 20 seconds, pre ss front door switch LH 20 times. Then turn ignition
switch OFF.
4. Turn ignition switch ON within 10 seconds after ignition switch OFF.
5. When auto active test mode is actuated, horn chirps once.
6. After a series of operations is repeated th ree times, auto active test is completed.

STARTING SYSTEM
System Description INFOID:0000000004306821
M/T Models Power is supplied at all times
• to starter motor terminal B, and
• through 40A fusible link (letter h, located in the fuse and fusible link box)
• to ignition switch terminal B.
With the ignition switch in the START position, power is supplied
• from ignition switch terminal ST
• to IPDM E/R terminal 21.
With the ignition switch in the ON or START position, power is supplied
• through 10A fuse (No. 49, located in the IPDM E/R)
• to the clutch interlock switch terminal 1.
With the clutch pedal depressed, power is supplied
• through the clutch interlock switch terminal 2
• to IPDM E/R terminal 35.
Ground is supplied at all times
• to IPDM E/R terminals 39 and 59
• through body grounds E15 and E24.
If the IPDM E/R receives a starter relay request ON signal from the BCM over the CAN communication lines,
the IPDM E/R grounds the starter relay and power is supplied
• through terminal 19 of the IPDM E/R
• to terminal S of the starter motor.
The starter motor magnetic switch energizes closing the circuit between the battery and the starter motor. The
starter motor is case ground through the cylinder block. With power and ground supplied, the starter motor
operates.

With the ignition switch in the ON or START position, power is supplied
• through 10A fuse (No. 54, located in the IPDM E/R)
• to park/neutral position (PNP) switch terminal 1.
With the selector lever in the P or N position, power is supplied
• through PNP switch terminal 2
• to IPDM E/R terminal 35.
Ground is supplied at all times
• to IPDM E/R terminals 39 and 59

System Description INFOID:0000000004306905
• Front wiper relays (front wiper relay, front wiper hi gh relay) are located in the IPDM E/R (intelligent power
distribution module engine room).
• Wiper switch (combination switch) is composed of a combination of 5 output terminals and 5 input terminals.
Terminal combination status is read by BCM (body control module) when switch is turned ON.
• BCM controls front wiper LO, HI, and INT (intermittent) operation.
• IPDM E/R operates wiper motor accordi ng to CAN communication signals from BCM.
OUTLINE
Power is supplied at all times
• to ignition relay, located in IPDM E/R, from battery directly,
