The courtesy lights will come on and remain on for approximately 10 minu\
tes when:
l One of the doors is opened (assuming the courtesy lighting has not prev\
iously been switched off)
The courtesy lighting will go off when:
l The engine is started
l The vehicle is locked from the outside with the remote control or key
The automatic function can be disconnected by pressing button 2 for more\
than 3 seconds.
Briefly pressing the button again automatically reconnects the function.\

The courtesy light timer periods can be changed. Contact your Volvo reta\
iler.
1. This function is light dependent and is only activated in dark condit\
ions.

Extra handgrip
The Volvo XC70 is equipped with an extra handgrip on the front passenger\
's side. This handgrip can be
used for added support when travelling on unpaved roads, etc.
WARNING!
The handgrip may become very warm when the vehicle has been parked in st\
rong
sunlight.

Storage compartments
Cup holder for rear seat passengers
- To access the storage compartment, press the button on the left side o\
f the armrest and fold the entire
cover rearward.
- To open the rear seat cup holder, press the button on the right side o\
f the armrest. Fold the upper
section of the cover rearward.
The two sections of the cover can be closed separately.
Storage in the glove compartment
The glove compartment has storage spaces designed specifically to hold c\
redit cards, pens, and pencils.

Cup holders in the center console - V70
To remove the cup holders:
- Press the cup holder forward (1), while lifting the rear edge (2).\

- Move the cup holder rearward (3), into the groove under the sliding \
cover.
- Angle the front edge of the cup holder upward (4) and lift it out.
Return the cup holder to the storage space in the reverse order.
Cup holders in the center console - XC70
To remove the cup holders:
- Grasp the rear edge of the cup holder and press in the rear side to re\
lease the rear edge.
- Pull up the cup holder's rear edge and the lift it out.
Return the cup holder to the storage space in the reverse order.
NOTE: Avoid pinching the parking brake gaiter.

Coat hanger
Use the coat hanger for light jackets, etc.

Rear seat folding table (option)
Folding Table
Folding out the table:
- Pull the tab and fold the seat cushion forward.

- Fold the center armrest forward.
- Fold out the table so that it rests on the seat cushion.
- Press to release the cup holder.
NOTE: It is not necessary to fold down the armrest if you only intend to use \
the cup holder.
Stowing the table:
- Close the cup holder(s).
- Fold the table section upward into place.
- Fold the arm under the table inward.
- Pull the release and fold the table section back in place.

Rear seat backrest
To increase loading capacity, the angle of the rear seat backrest(s) c\
an be adjusted to two positions while
the backrest is in the upright position.
- Press the catch until the red mark is visible (B in the illustration \
above).
- Depending on the backrests' current angle, push or pull the backrest r\
earward/ forward to a new locked
position.
- Make sure that the backrest is secured in a locked position and that t\
he red mark is no longer visible (A
in the illustration above).
Folding down the rear seat backrests
The rear seat is split in two sections and each section can be folded fo\
rward separately.
Before folding the backrests down:
- Adjust the front seat backrests to a more upright position if they are\
excessively reclined.
- Fold down the outboard head restraint(s) by pulling the strap at the\
base of the head restraint as shown
in the inset illustration above.
- Pull the strap on the rear seat cushion and pull the cushion forward a\
gainst the front seat backrests.
