CONTROL VALVE WITH TCM REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
Removal
1. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal.
2. Drain ATF through drain plug.
3. Disconnect heated oxygen sensor 2 harness connector.
4. Disconnect A/T assembly harness connector.
5. Remove snap ring from A/T assembly harness connector.
6. Push A/T assembly harness connector.
CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage connector.
7. Remove oil pan and oil pan gasket.
8. Check foreign materials in oil pan to help determine causes of
malfunction. If the ATF is very dark, smells burned, or contains
foreign particles, the frictional material (clutches, band) may
need replacement. A tacky film that will not wipe clean indicates
varnish build up. Varnish can cause valves, servo, and clutches
to stick and can inhibit pump pressure.
If frictional material is detected, perform A/T fluid cooler
cleaning. Refer to AT- 1 4 , "
A/T Fluid Cooler Cleaning" .

A/T FLUID TEMPERATURE SENSOR 2 REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
Removal
1. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal.
2. Drain ATF through drain plug.

7. Straighten terminal clip to free A/T fluid temperature sensor 2
harness.

REMOVAL OF BATTERY
When the battery is removed, the possible route line center position of rear view monitor may not be in the cor-
rect position. Perform the center position correction with the following procedure.
1. Fully turn the steering wheel to left/right.
2. Drive 100m (328.1 ft) or more at vehicle speed 30 km/h (18.6 MPH) or more.

REMOVAL
1. Remove cluster lid C. Refer to IP-10, "INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY" .
2. Remove screws (A) and remove audio unit (2) in conjunction
with unified meter and A/C amp (1).
3. Remove screws (A) and (B)
4. Remove meter and A/C amp (1), audio unit (2) and bracket (3).
CAUTION:
Be careful not to allow foreign material to enter from CD
slot.
INSTALLATION
Installation is the reverse order of removal.
CAUTION:
Unified meter and A/C amp screws are different from other securing screws. Never confuse them
when installing.

1. Remove front door finisher. Refer to EI-34, "DOOR FINISHER" .
2. Remove screws (A) and remove front door speaker (1).

DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY OF INTELLIGENT KEY
1. Release the lock knob at the back of the Intelligent Key and remove the machanical key.
2. Insert a flat-blade screwdriver (A) wrapped with a close into the
slit of the corner and twist it to separate the upper part from the
lower part.
CAUTION:
Be careful not to touch the circuit board or battery termi-
nal.
The key fob is water-resistant. However, if it does get wet,
immediately wipe it dry.
3. Replace the battery with new one.
4. Align the tips of the upper and lower parts, and then push them
together until it is securely closed.
CAUTION:
When replacing battery, be sure to keep dirt, grease, and
other foreign materials off the electrode contact area.
After replacing the battery, check to make sure all Intelli-
gent Key functions work normally.
INTELLIGENT KEY BATTERY INSPECTION
Check by connecting a resistance (approximately 300) so that the
current value becomes about 10 mA.

IVIS (INFINITI VEHICLE IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM-NATS)

DESCRIPTION
The IVIS (NATS) is an anti-theft system by registering an Intelligent Key ID in to the vehicle and prevents
the engine being started by an unregistered Intelligent Key. It has a higher protection against auto thefts
that duplicates mechanical key.
It performs the ID verification when starting the engine in the same way as the Intelligent Key system. But,
it performs the IVIS (NATS) ID verification when inserting the Intelligent Key and performs the Intelligent
Key ID verification when carrying the Intelligent Key.
The Intelligent Key system of FUGA (Y50) is not the same as the conventional models. The mechanical
key integrated in the Intelligent Key cannot start the engine. When the Intelligent Key battery is dis-
charged, the IVIS (NATS) ID verification memorized to the transponder integrated with Intelligent Key is
performed by inserting the Intelligent Key into the key slot. If the verification results are OK, the engine
start operation can be performed by the push-button ignition switch operation.
Locate the security indicator and apply the anti-theft system equipment sticker, forewarn that the IVIS
(NATS) is onboard with the model.
The security indicator always blinks when the Intelligent Key is removed from the key slot and when the
power supply position is in LOCK position.
Intelligent Key can be registered up to 4 keys (Including the standard ignition key) on request from the
owner.
The specified registration is required when replacing ECM, BCM or Intelligent Key. The registrations pro-
cedure for IVIS (NATS) and registration procedure for Intelligent Key when installing the Intelligent Key
unit, refer to CONSULT-II Operation Manual NATS-IVIS/NVIS.
Possible symptom of IVIS (NATS) malfunction is “Engine cannot start”. In FUGA (Y50), the engine can be
started with the Intelligent Key system and IVIS (NATS). Identify the possible causes according to “Work
Flow”, Refer to BL-272, "
Work Flow" .
If ECM other than Genuine NISSAN is installed, the engine cannot be started. For ECM replacement pro-
cedure, refer to BL-252, "
ECM Re-Communicating Function" .
PRECAUTIONS FOR KEY REGISTRATION
The key registration is a procedure that erases the current IVIS (NATS) ID once, and then re register a
new ID operation. Therefore the registered Intelligent Key is necessary for this procedure. Before starting
the registration operation collect all registered Intelligent Key from the customer
When registering the Intelligent Key, 2 registration procedures [IVIS (NATS) ID registration and Intelligent
Key ID registration] should be performed. The IVIS (NATS) ID registration is the procedure that registers
the ID stored into the transponder (integrated into Intelligent Key) to the BCM. The Intelligent Key ID reg-
istration is the procedure that registers the ID to the Intelligent Key unit. Each registration procedure
should be done separated.
When performing the Intelligent Key system registration only, the engine cannot be started by inserting the
key into the key slot. When performing the IVIS (NATS) registration only, the engine cannot be started by
the operation when carrying the key. The registrations of both systems should be performed.
SECURITY INDICATOR
Warn the outside that the vehicle is the model with IVIS (NATS).
The security indicator always blinks when the Intelligent Key is removed from the key slot and when the
ignition switch is in LOCK position.
NOTE:
Because security indicator is highly efficient, the battery is barely affected.
