TRANSMISSION WIRE (U241E)
REPLACEMENT
1. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
2. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID
(a) Remove the drain plug, gasket and drain ATF.
(b) Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgfcm, 36 ftlbf)
3. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL PAN
SUB±ASSY
(a) Remove the 18 bolts, oil pan and gasket.
NOTICE:
Some fluid will remain in the oil pan. Remove all of the oil
pan bolts, and carefully remove the oil pan assembly. Dis-
card the gasket.
(b) Remove the 2 magnets from the oil pan.
(c) Examine the particles in the oil pan.
(1) Remove the magnets and use them to collect any
steel chips. Look at the chips and particles in the oil
pan and on the magnet carefully to see the type of
wear which might be found in the tranaxle.
Steel (magnetic): bearing, gear and plate wear
Brass (non±magnetic): bearing wear
4. SEPARATE TRANSMISSION WIRE
(a) Disconnect the 5 solenoid valve connectors.
(b) Remove the bolt and lock plate, and separate the ATF
temperature sensor.
5. REMOVE TRANSMISSION WIRE
(a) Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
(b) Remove the bolt and transmission wire.

6. INSTALL TRANSMISSION WIRE
(a) Coat an O±ring of the transmission wire connector with
AT F.
(b) Install the transmission wire.
(c) Install the bolt.
Torque: 5.4 Nm (55 kgfcm, 48 in.lbf)
7. CONNECT TRANSMISSION WIRE
(a) Coat an O±ring of the ATF temperature sensor with ATF.
(b) Install the ATF temperature sensor with the lock plate and
bolt.
Torque: 6.6 Nm (67 kgfcm, 58 in.lbf)
(c) Connect the 5 solenoid valve connectors.
8. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL PAN
SUB±ASSY
(a) Install the 2 magnets in the oil pan.
(b) Apply the seal packing or equivalent to the 18 bolts.
Seal packing:
THREE BOND 1344 or equivalent
(c) Install a new gasket and the oil pan to the transaxle case
with the 18 bolts.
Torque: 7.8 Nm (80 kgfcm, 69 in.lbf)
NOTICE:
Apply the seal packing or equivalent to the bolts and tighter
them within 10 minutes after application because the bolts
should be seal bolts.

REPLACEMENT
1. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
2. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID
(a) Remove the drain plug, gasket and drain ATF.
(b) Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgfcm, 36 ftlbf)
3. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL PAN
SUB±ASSY
(a) Remove the 18 bolts, oil pan and gasket.
NOTICE:
Some fluid will remain in the oil pan. Remove all of the oil
pan bolts, and carefully remove the oil pan assembly. Dis-
card the gasket.
(b) Remove the 2 magnets from the oil pan.
(c) Examine the particles in the oil pan.
(1) Remove the magnets and use them to collect any
steel chips. Look at the chips and particles in the oil
pan and on the magnet carefully to see the type of
wear which might be found in the tranaxle.
Steel (magnetic): bearing, gear and plate wear
Brass (non±magnetic): bearing wear
4. SEPARATE TRANSMISSION WIRE
(a) Disconnect the 5 solenoid valve connectors.
(b) Remove the bolt and lock plate, and separate the ATF
temperature sensor.
5. REMOVE VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSY
(a) Remove the 3 bolts and oil strainer.
Be careful as some fluid will come out with the oil strainer.

9. INSTALL TRANSMISSION WIRE
(a) Coat an O±ring with ATF.
(b) Install the ATF temperature sensor with the lock plate and bolt.
Torque: 6.6 N m (67 kgf cm, 58 in. lbf)
(c) Connect the 5 solenoid valve connectors.
10. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL PAN SUB±ASSY
(a) Install the 2 magnets in the oil pan.
(b) Apply the seal packing or equivalent to the 18 bolts. Seal packing:
THREE BOND 1344 or equivalent
(c) Install a new gasket and the oil pan to the transaxle case with the 18 bolts.
Torque: 7.8 N m (80 kgf cm, 69 in. lbf)
NOTICE:
Apply the seal packing or equivalent to the bolts and tight-
en them within 10 minutes after application because the
bolts should be seal bolts.
11. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID
12.INSPECT AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (See page 40±2)
13. RESET MEMORY

5. REMOVE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSY
(a) Disconnect the 5 connectors.
(b) Remove the bolt and lock plate, and remove the ATF tem-
perature sensor.
(c) Remove the 2 bolts, cover and detent spring.
(d) Remove the 13 bolts and valve body.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to drop the check valve body, spring and ac-
cumulator piston.
(e) Remove the check ball body and spring.
(f) Remove the 2 apply gaskets.

(g) Temporarily install the detent spring and cover with the 2
bolts.
Bolt length:
Bolt A: 14 mm (0.55 in.)
Bolt B: 45 mm (1.77 in.)
(h) Check that the manual valve lever contacts the center of
the roller at the tip of the detent spring.
(i) Tighten the 15 bolts.
Torque: 11 Nm (110 kgfcm, 8 ftlbf)
(j) Install the ATF temperature sensor with the lock plate and
bolt.
Torque: 11 Nm (110 kgfcm, 8 ftlbf)
(k) Connect the 5 shift solenoid valve connectors.
7. INSTALL VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSY
(a) Coat a new O±ring with ATF.
(b) Install the O±ring to the oil strainer.
(c) Install the oil strainer with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 11 Nm (110 kgfcm, 8 ftlbf)
8. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL PAN
SUB±ASSY
(a) Install the 2 magnets in the oil pan, as shown in the il-
lustration.
(b) Install a new gasket to the oil pan.

SPEED SENSOR (U241E)
REPLACEMENT
1. REMOVE BATTERY
2. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER
3. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSY
4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE NO.1
5. REMOVE SPEED SENSOR (NT SENSOR)
(a) Disconnect the speed sensor connector.
(b) Remove the bolt and speed sensor.
6. REMOVE SPEED SENSOR (NC SENSOR)
(a) Disconnect the speed sensor connector.
(b) Remove the bolt and speed sensor.
7. INSTALL SPEED SENSOR (NC SENSOR)
(a) Coat an O±ring with ATF.
(b) Install the speed sensor with the bolt.
Torque: 12 Nm (120 kgfcm, 8 ftlbf)
HINT:
Make sure of the manufacturer's name.
(c) Connect the speed sensor connector.
8. INSTALL SPEED SENSOR (NT SENSOR)
(a) Coat an O±ring with ATF.
(b) Install the speed sensor with the bolt.
Torque: 12 Nm (120 kgfcm, 8 ftlbf)
HINT:
Make sure of the manufacturer's name.
(c) Connect the speed sensor connector.
