CONSULT-II CHECKING SYSTEM
Checking Equipment EAS000GB
When ordering the following equipment, contact your NISSAN/INFINITI distributor.
CAUTION:
Previous CONSULT-II “I” and “Y” DLC-I and DLC-II cables should NOT be used anymore because
their DDL connector pins can be damaged during cable swapping.
If CONSULT-ll is used with no connection of CONSULT-ll CONVERTER, malfunctions might be
detected in self-diagnosis depending on control unit which carry out CAN communication.
If CONSULT-II CONVERTER is not connected with CONSULT-ll, vehicle occur the "FAIL SAFE
MODE" which is "LIGHT UP the HEAD LIGHT" and/or "COOLING FAN ROTATING" when CONSULT-
ll is started.
NOTE:
The CONSULT-II must be used in conjunction with a program card.
CONSULT-II does not require loading (Initialization) procedure.
Be sure the CONSULT-II is turned off before installing or removing a program card.
CONSULT-II Start ProcedureEAS0017Y
NOTE:
Turning ignition switch off when performing CAN diagnosis could cause CAN memory to be erased.
1. Connect CONSULT-II and CONSULT-II CONVERTER to the
data link connector.
2. If necessary, turn on the ignition switch.
3. Touch “START (NISSAN BASED VHCL)” or “System Shortcut
key” (eg : ENGINE) on the screen.

TOW TRUCK TOWINGPFP:00000
Tow Truck TowingEAS001JB
CAUTION:
All applicable state or Provincial (in Canada) laws and local laws regarding the towing operation
must be obeyed.
It is necessary to use proper towing equipment to avoid possible damage to the vehicle during
towing operation. Towing is in accordance with Towing Procedure Manual at dealer.
Always attach safety chains before towing.
When towing, make sure that the transmission, steering system and power train are in good order.
If any unit is damaged, dollies must be used.
Never tow an automatic transmission model from the rear (that is backward) with four wheels on
the ground. This may cause serious and expensive damage to the transmission.
2WD MODELS
NISSAN recommends that vehicle be towed with the driving (front) wheels off the ground or that a dolly be
used as illustrated.
CAUTION:
Never tow automatic transmission models with the front wheels on the ground or four wheels on
the ground (forward or backward) as this may cause serious and expensive damage to the trans-
mission.
If it is necessary to tow the vehicle with the rear wheels raised, always use towing dollies under
the front wheels.
When towing automatic transmission models with the front wheels on towing dollies:
–Turn the ignition key to the OFF position, and secure the steering wheel in a straight ahead posi-
tion with a rope or similar device.
Never secure the steering wheel by turning the ignition key to the LOCK position. This may dam-
age the steering lock mechanism.
–Move the selector lever to the N (Neutral) position.

1. Make sure that crankshaft key points straight up.
2. Tighten mounting bolts in numerical order as shown in figure
with the following procedure, and install balancer unit.
CAUTION:
If mounting bolts are re-used, check their outer diameter
before installation. Refer to EM-50, "
INSPECTION AFTER
REMOVAL" .
a. Apply new engine oil to threads and seat surfaces of mounting
bolts.
b. Tighten all bolts.
c. Turn all bolts 90 degrees clockwise (angle tightening).
d. Completely loosen.
CAUTION:
In this step, loosen bolts in reverse order as shown in the
figure.
e. Tighten all bolts.
f. Turn them another 90 degrees clockwise (angle tightening).
CAUTION:
Check tightening angle with an angle wrench (special service tool) or a protractor. Do not make
judgment by visual check alone.

Install the following four types of bolts, referring to the figure.
The shank length under the bolt neck above is the length of
threaded part (pilot portion not included).
e. After tightening all the bolts, re-tighten in the same order.
2. Install power steering oil pump.
3. Install fuel pump. Refer to EM-171, "

Before installing, make sure that spacer and the hole 6 mm
(0.24 in) in diameter on coupling are aligned.
4. Install chain guide and tension guides.
5. Install crankshaft sprocket, aligning it with crankshaft key on the
far side.
6. Install primary timing chain with fuel pump sprocket.
When installing, match the alignment marks on sprockets with
color coded alignment marks (colored links) on primary timing
chain.
Install fuel pump sprocket washer with the surface marked “F”
(front mark) facing the front of the engine.
7. Install timing chain onto power steering oil pump sprocket and
through chain guide.
8. Use the positioning stopper pin (special service tool) to hold the
fuel pump sprocket and install the bolt.
Using the TORX wrench (special service tool), turn the fuel
pump shaft little by little to adjust the position of the fuel pump
sprocket. Insert positioning stopper pin into the hole 6 mm
(0.24 in) in diameter on fuel pump sprocket so that the stop-
per pin goes through the fuel pump body. While the stopper
pin is in place, install the bolt.16 mm (0.63 in) : Bolt No. 1, 2, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22
