Tostop:
6 Press the switch in any direction.
The sliding /tilting sunroof stops in
it s current position.
Lowering and closing
6 Pull the switch in the direct ion of arrow
4 and hold itin this position until the
sliding /tilti ng sunroof has moved to
the required position.
or
6 Briefly press the switch beyond the
pressure point in the direction of arrow
4and release it.
The sl iding /tilting sunroof is lowered
at the rea r. To stop:
6 Press the swi tch in any direction.
The sliding /tilting sunroof stops in
its current position. Opening and closing the cover
The cover is intended to block out the sun-
light. When you open the sl
iding /tilting
sunroof, the cover automatica lly sli des
bac kwith it.
It is possible to open the cover manually
when the sli ding /tilting sunroof is closed
or raised at the rear. Rain closing feature
The sliding
/tilting sunroof closes auto-
matically:
! when it st arts to rain
! at extreme outs ide temperatures
! after twelve hours
! if there are malfunctions in the power
supply
The sliding /tilting sunroof is then raised at
the rear to continue to ventilate the vehicle
interior.
i The sliding /tilting sunroof does not close if:
! it is rai sed at the rear
! it is blocked
! itis not raining on the windscreen (e.g. if the
vehicl eis under a bridge orin a carport) G
Risk ofinjury If the slidin
g/tilti ngsunroof has been
clo sed using thera in closing featu reand
becomes blocked, it will not open automati-

/tilting sunroof
The slidin g/tilting sunroof mus tbe reset
if:
! the battery was disconnected or dis-
charged
! the sliding /tilti ng sunroof was closed
manual ly(emergency operation)
(= page 343)
! the sliding /tilti ng sunroof can only be
opened with a jerk
! there was a mal function
6 Switch on the ignition.
6 Press the switch ( =pa ge 181) in the
direction of arrow 3unti lthe sliding /
tilting sunroof is fully raised at the rear. 6
Keep the switch pressed for approxi-
mately one secon dafter the sunroof is
raised.
6 Check that the slidin g/tilting sunroof
can (automatically) be fully opened
aga in (
=pa ge 180).
If you cannot (aut omatically) open the
sliding /tilti ng sunroof fully:
6 Reset the slidin g/tilting sunroof.
In warm weather, you may wish to ventilate
the vehicle before driv ing off. To do this,
the remote control can be used to simulta-
neously open:
! the slidin g/tilting sunroof* and
! the side windows

Point the tip of the remote control at
the driver's door handle.

You can simultaneously close the side win-
dows and the slidin g/tilting sunroof*
when you lock the vehicle.
6Point the tip of the remote control at
the driver's door handle.
6 Press the ‹button to lock the vehi-
cle and keep it pressed until the side
windows and sli ding /tilting sunroof*
are fully closed.
6 Make sure that all the side windows
and the slidin g/tilting sunroof* are

Risk of injury Make sure that nobody can become tr
apped
as you close the side windows and the
sliding /tilting sunroof*. Proceed as follows if
danger threatens:
! Release the ‹button on the remote
contr ol.
! Press and hold the Œbutton on the
remote cont rol until the side windows and
the sli ding /tilting sunroof* open again. P8

Riskof injury Make sure that no
body can become trapped
or injured by mov ing pa rts, such asthe soft
top linkage or compartme ntcover, while you
are opening or closing the soft top.
Release the soft top sw itch if there is a risk
of entrapment. The soft top mechanism will

compartme ntcover and do not sit on the cover.
You will otherwise damage the soft top and the
soft top compartme ntcover. !

to swing upwards
! theb oot isonly loaded below the boot sepa-
rator
! the boot sep arator is engaged ( =page 188)
! theskibag cover is closed (= page189)
! theboot separator is not being pushed up by
items of luggage
! no objects are plac edon the soft top com-
partment cover
! the boot lid isclosed
! the ro ll-over bars are ex tended
( = page 344).

! the soft top is not dirty orwet
You will ot herwise damag ethe soft top an dother
parts of the vehicle. Ope
ning the soft top with the switch
The soft top switch is located on the lower
section of the centre console.
Soft top switch 1 To open
6 Apply the pa rking brake ( =page 43).
6 Click the boot separator into place
(= page 188).
6 Close the ski bag cover ( =page 189).
6 Close the boot lid.
6 Switch on the ignition. G
Risk of accident Only drive with the roof fully open or closed.
Ma
ke sure that the roof is locked in place
while you are driving. Otherwise, you could
endanger yourself and oth ers.
If you open or close the soft top at speeds of
over 40 km /h, the soft top may fail to com-
plete its opening or closing procedure. The
soft top could come loo seat high speeds if
it is not prope rlyc lose d. You sho uld there-
fore drive slower than 40 km /huntil the

op enin g it. Otherwise, water could enter into the
boot.
Do not place any objects on the softtopco m-
partment cover and do not put any weight on it,
for exampl e,by sitting on it. You could otherwise
da ma ge the cover.
6 Pull the soft top switch in the direction
of the arrow 1unti lthe soft top is fully
stowed in the soft top compartment.

dows have reached the desired height.
You can open the side windows by press-
ing the soft top switch twice. Press it

Open-airEnsuring that the soft top is loc
ked
The soft top is not locked if:
! the indicator lamp in the soft top
switch is lit
! an ala rmsounds and thein dic ator lamp
flashes for a maximum of ten seconds
wh en you pull away or while you are
driving
If the soft top is not locked pro perly, you
can relock it.
Before continuing your journey
6 Switch on the ignition (key in position 2
in the ignition lock ).
6 Push the soft top switch. During the journey
6 Stop the vehicle.
6 Push the soft top switch. Boot separator and skibag cover
The boot separator and the skibag cover
are located in the boot.
!
Do not place anything behind the nets atthe
side when the boot separator is swung back or
the skibag cover is open. You could forget the se
objects and they could be damaged when the
soft top is ope rated. 6
Open the boot.
Engaging the boot separator
6 Pull back bootseparator 1in the
direct ion of the arrow by the handle
until it engages.
Swinging back the boot separator 6 Push boot separator 1away fr omyou

Risk of injury If the soft top does

pletely, the soft top hydraulic system will be
depressurised after about seven minutes
and the soft to pwill lower.
The soft top hydraulic system is depressu-
rised immediately and the soft top lowers

To make sure that you donot dama ge the
soft top or load while folding back the soft
top:
! only load the boot below the boot sep-
arator
! do not place objects on the soft top
compar tment cover
! do not allow the boot separator to be
pushed up by the items stored in the
boot
Closing the skibag cover
1 Left- hand hinge
2 Right-hand hinge
3 Tab 6
Pull tab 3down.
6 Fold front hinges 1and 2on the
boot separator down fully by hand.
6 Press the PRESS label on the right and
le ft-hand sides on the two hinges to
engage them.
Opening the skibag cover
1 Left-hand hinge
2 Right-hand hinge
3 Tab 6
Pull tab 3up.
6 Fold front hinges 1and 2on the
boot separator up fully by hand.
The draught stop pro vides protection from
the wind when you are dri ving with the soft
top open. It is located in a separate bag in
the boot.
! When the draught stop isinstalled, pay
attention to the position of the front seat back-
rests since a bac krest may collide with the

Risk of accident When visibility
ispoor or it is dark, fold down
the upper half of the draugh tstop. Other-
wise, visibi lity to the rear could be impaired.
You could cause an ac ciden tif your vi ew is
