REMOVAL
1. REMOVE REAR SEAT (See page BO-120)
2. REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH
(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the roof side inner garnish.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(b) Employ the same manner described above to the other
side.
3. REMOVE HIGH-MOUNTED STOP LIGHT
Remove the high-mounted stop light as shown in the illustra-
tion, then disconnect the connector.
4. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM
(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the 3 rear seat belt bezel.

Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

7. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT
(a) Remove the front seat inner belt wire harness from the
front seat cushion frame.
(b) Remove the bolt, washer and front seat inner belt.
8. REMOVE SEATBACK COVER
(a) Remove the headrest supports.
(b) Remove the hog rings.
(c) Disengage the hook as shown in the illustration.
(d) Remove the seatback cover with pad.
(e) Remove the seatback cover from the seatback pad.
9. REMOVE SEAT CUSHION COVER
(a) Remove the hog rings and side airbag assembly wire har-
ness.
(b) Remove the 4 bolts and seat cushion assembly.
(c) Remove the seat cushion cover with pad from the seat
cushion frame.
(d) Remove the seat cushion cover from the seat cushion
pad.
10. REMOVE SEATBACK FRAME
11. REMOVE RECLINING CONNECTING PIPE
12. REMOVE SEAT CUSHION INSIDE COVER
(a) Remove the screws and seat cushion inside cover.
(b) Employ the same manner described above to the other
side.
13. REMOVE SEAT TRACK HANDLE
Using a screwdriver, remove the seat track handle.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
14. w/ Vertical adjuster:
DISASSEMBLE OUTER TRACK AND INNER TRACK
(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the E-ring.
(b) Disassemble the outer track and inner track.

(c) Using a screwdriver, remove the rear door inner weather-
strip.
(d) Remove the 13 screws and rear door armrest.
(e) Remove the 7 screws and rear door trim pocket.
5. REMOVE INSIDE HANDLE
(a) Remove the screw.
(b) Slide the inside handle backward to remove it.
(c) Disconnect the 2 cables from the inside handle as shown
in the illustration.
6. REMOVE DOOR SPEAKER BOARD
7. REMOVE SERVICE HOLE COVER
(a) Disconnect the 2 control cables from the link clamp.
(b) Using a clip remover, remove the grommets and link
clamp.
(c) Remove the service hole cover.
NOTICE:
Do not tear the cover.
HINT:
At the time of reassembly, please refer to the following item.
Bring out the 2 control cables and wire harness through the ser-
vice hole cover.
8. REMOVE REAR DOOR WEATHERSTRIP
(a) Remove the screw from the door check.
(b) Using a clip remover, remove the rear door weatherstrip.
(c) Reinstall the screw to the door check.
Torque: 25 N´m (260 kgf´cm, 19 ft´lbf)
9. REMOVE REAR DOOR BELT MOULDING
(a) Apply protective tape to the outer surface as shown in the
illustration, to keep the surface from being scratched.
(b) Using a moulding remover, remove the rear door belt
moulding.

(a) Remove the front door scuff inside plate.

cover.
(b) Remove the front seat outer belt floor anchor.
Torque: 41 N´m (420 kgf´cm, 30 ft´lbf)
(c) Remove the lower center pillar garnish as shown in the il-
lustration.
(d) Employ the same manner described above to the other
side.
10. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH
(a) Remove the 2 clips.
(b) Using a screwdriver, remove the center pillar garnish.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(c) Employ the same manner described above to the other
side.
11. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH
(a) Remove the front pillar garnish.

SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER
REMOVAL
NOTICE:
If the wiring connector of the seat belt pretensioner is
disconnected with the ignition switch at ON or ACC,
diagnostic trouble codes will be recorded.
Never use SRS parts from another vehicle. When re-
place parts, replace them with new parts.
1. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF INSIDE PLATE
Remove the front door scuff inside plate.
2. REMOVE LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH
(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the lap belt outer anchor
cover.
(b) Remove the front seat outer belt floor anchor.
(c) Remove the lower center pillar garnish as shown in the il-
lustration.
3. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH
(a) Remove the 2 clips.
(b) Using a screwdriver, remove the center pillar garnish.

INSPECTION
CAUTION:
Replace the seat belt assembly (outer belt, inner belt, bolts,
nuts or sill-bar) if it has been used in a severe impact. The
entire assembly should be replaced even if damage is not
obvious.
1. RUNNING TEST (IN SAFE AREA)
(a) Fasten the front seat belts.
(b) Drive the car at 10 mph (16 km/h) and slam on the brakes.
Check that the belt locks and cannot be extended at this
time.
HINT:
Conduct this test in a safe area. If the belt does not lock, remove
the belt mechanism assembly and conduct the following static
check. Also, whenever installing a new belt assembly, verify the
proper operation before installation.
2. Driver 's seat belt (ELR):
STATIC TEST
(a) Make sure that the belt locks when pulled out quickly.
(b) Remove the locking retractor assembly.
(c) Tilt the retractor slowly.
(d) Make sure that the belt can be pulled out at a tilt of 15 de-
grees or less, and cannot be pulled out over 45 degrees
of tilt.
If a problem is found, replace the assembly.
3. Except driver's seat belt (ALR/ELR):
STATIC TEST
(a) Make sure that the belt locks when pulled out quickly.
(b) Remove the locking retractor assembly.
(c) Pull out the whole belt and measure the length of the
whole belt.
Then retract the belt slightly and pull it out again
(d) Make sure that the belt cannot be extended further.
If a problem is found, replace the assembly.
