Position Adjustment
NOTE: Place the vehicle on a firm, level surface whenadiusting the doors.
After installing rhe door, check {or a flush lir with the
body, then check for equalgaps between the front, rear,
and bottom door edges and the body.
The door and body edges should also be parallel. Adjustat the hinges as shown.
CAUTION: Place a shop towel on the jack to prevenl
damage to the doof when loosening the dool and hinge
mounting bolts for adiustmont.

lf it needs adjustment:
1. Draw a line around the striker lor reference.
2. Loosen the screws, and move the striker lN or OUT
to make the latch fit tighter or looser. Move the strik-
er UP or DOWN to align it with the latch opening.
Then lightly tighten the screws and recheck.

NOTE: Hold the outer handle out, and push the door
against the body to be sure the striker allows a flush
fit.

end of a flat tip screwdriver with a shop towel.
1, Remove the pivot, then remove the snap ring as
shown.
Remove the joint pin, then remove the mirror holder
as snown.

cover, wrap the end ol the screwdriver with a shop
towel.
2. Remove the screws, then remove the rearview
mirror.

13. Pack adhesive into the cartridge without air pock-
ets to ensure continuous deliverv. Put the cartridge
in a caulking gun, and run a bead of adhesive around
the edge of the windshield as shown.
NOTEr Apply the adhesive within 30 minutes after
applying the glass primer.

opening, align the clips or the alignment marks
made in step 5, and set it down on the adhesive.
Lightly push on the quarter glass until its edges are
fully seated on the adhesive all the way around.
NOTE: Do not open or close the doors until the
adhesive is dry.
Let the adhesive dry for at least one hour, then
spray water over the quarter glass and check for
leaks. lvlark leaking areas, and let the quarter glass
dry, then seal with sealant.
NOTE: Let the car stand for at least four hours after
quarter glass installation. lf the car has to be used
within the first four hours, it must be driven slowly.
Reinstall all remaining removed pans.
NOTE: Advise the customer not to do the following
things for two to three days:
. Slam the doors with all the windows rolled up.
. Twist the body excessively (such as when going
in and out of driveways al an angle or driving
over rough, uneven roads).

Before installing the motor, measure the effort required
to open the glass using a spring scale as shown.
CAUTION: Wh€n using a spring scale, piotect the lead-
ing odge of the glass with a shop towel.
lf load is over 40 N 14 kgf, 9lbf), check side clearance
and glass height adjustment (see page 20-78).
Closing Force Check
(Motor Installedl'1. After installing all removed parts, have a helper hold
the switch to close the glass whjle you measure
{orce required to stop it. Attach a spring scale as
shown. Read the force as soon as the glass stops
moving, then immediately release the switch and
spflng scate.
CAUTION: When using a sp.ing scale, protect the
leading edge of the glass with a shop towel.

lf the force is not within specification, install a new
lock washer, adjust the tension by turning the mo
tor clutch adjusting nut, and bend the lock washer
