Departure and Comfort
Press the edit button for departureand comfort settings.
Setting departure times allows you to controlcharging schedules and warm or cool yourcabin and the high voltage battery when yourvehicle is plugged in, so your vehicle is readyto drive when you are. By setting a departuretime, your vehicle can use your charging timepreferences to minimize your electricity costsbut still prioritize finishing charging beforeyour scheduled departure. The calendar viewallows you to program two departure timesper day for each day of the week.

WHAT IS REVERSE BRAKING
ASSIST
Reverse braking assist is designed to reduceimpact damage or assist in avoiding acollision while in reverse (R). Using sensorson the rear of the vehicle, it can detect apossible collision and apply the brakes. If fullbraking occurs, the system attempts to stopthe vehicle a safe distance from the obstacle.
HOW DOES REVERSE BRAKING
ASSIST WORK
Reverse braking assist functions when inreverse (R) and traveling at a speed of1–7 mph (2–12 km/h).
If the system detects an obstacle behind yourvehicle, it provides a warning through therear parking aid or cross traffic alert system.

WHAT IS CROSS TRAFFIC
BRAKING
The system is designed to reduce impactdamage or assist in avoiding a collision byusing the sensors on the rear of your vehicleto detect a possible collision and applyingthe brakes.

BRAKING WORK
The system only reacts for vehiclesapproaching from the sides when you shiftinto reverse (R).
If the system detects a vehicle approachingyour vehicle, it provides a warning throughthe cross traffic alert system. See What IsCross Traffic Alert (page 357).
The system only applies the brakes for ashort period of time when an event occurs.Take action as soon as you notice the systemapplying the brakes in order to remain incontrol of your vehicle, the system does notdo this for you.
Note:You need to enable cross traffic alertfor the system to function.

WHAT IS HILL START ASSIST
Hill Start Assist makes it easier for you to pullaway when your vehicle is on a slope withoutusing the parking brake.
HOW DOES HILL START ASSIST
WORK
When the system activates, your vehicleremains stationary for a few seconds afteryou release the brake pedal. This gives youtime to move your foot from the brake pedalto the accelerator pedal. The brakes releasewhen you apply the accelerator pedal andthe vehicle begins to move forward, or thevehicle is stationary beyond hill start assisthold time.
The system activates when your vehicle isin any forward gear and facing uphill, orwhen your vehicle is in reverse (R) and facingdownhill.

HOW DOES AUTO HOLD WORK
Auto hold applies the brakes to hold yourvehicle after you bring the vehicle to a stop.This can help when waiting on a hill or intraffic.

You can switch the system on or off byaccessing the menu in the SYNC displayscreen.
1.Press Features on the touchscreen.
2.Press Driver Assistance.
Note:You can only switch the system onafter you close the driver door, and fastenyour seatbelt.
Note:The system remembers the last settingwhen you start your vehicle.
Note:When using an automatic car wash,make sure to switch auto hold off, or shift toneutral (N) with the brake pedal applied toensure auto hold is not active.
USING AUTO HOLD
1.Bring your vehicle to a complete stop.The auto hold active indicator illuminatesin the information display.
2.Release the brake pedal. The systemholds your vehicle at a standstill. Theauto hold active indicator remainsilluminated in the information display.
3.Apply the accelerator and drive off in anormal manner. The system releases thebrakes and the auto hold active indicatorswitches off.
Note:The system only activates if you applyenough brake pressure on the brake pedalto bring the vehicle to a standstill.
Note:Under certain conditions, the systemcould apply the electric parking brake. Thebrake system warning lamp illuminates. Theelectric parking brake releases when youpress the accelerator pedal. SeeAutomatically Releasing the ElectricParking Brake (page 273).
Note:The system switches off if you shiftinto reverse (R) or neutral (N) while pressingthe brake pedal.
There could be actions that can cause theauto hold system not to work when thefollowing occur:
•When you use active park assist.
•Your vehicle is in stay in neutral mode.
•The driver door is open.
•You shift into reverse (R) or neutral (N)before the system is active.

REAR PARKING AID
WHAT IS THE REAR PARKING AID
Rear parking sensors detect objects behindyour vehicle when in reverse (R).
REAR PARKING AID LIMITATIONS
There is a decreased coverage area at theouter corners.
The rear parking aid sensors are active whenyour vehicle is in reverse (R) and the vehiclespeed is less than 5 mph (8 km/h).
The sensor coverage area is up to 71 in(180 cm) from the rear bumper.
The rear parking aid detects large objectswhen you shift into reverse (R) and any ofthe following occur:
•Your vehicle is moving backward at a lowspeed.
•Your vehicle is stationary but an objectis approaching the rear of your vehicleat a low speed.
•Your vehicle is moving backward at a lowspeed and an object is moving towardsyour vehicle, for example another vehicleat a low speed.
The system shall provide no audible warningfor the object behind the vehicle when inneutral (N) gear.
