How to Connect AC Charger
1. Depress the brake pedal and apply the parking brake.
2. Turn OFF all switches, shift to P (Park), and turn OFF the vehicle.

3. Press center edge of the charging door to open the charging door.
Information
If the charging door does not open because
ice has formed around it, tap lightly or
push on the door to break the ice and
release the door. Do not pry on the door. If
necessary, spray around the door with an
approved deicer fluid (do not use radiator
antifreeze) or move the vehicle to a warm
place and allow the ice to melt. 4. Check if there is dust on the charging
connector and charging inlet.

5. Hold the charging connector handle and connect it to the vehicle AC
charging inlet. Push the connector
until you hear a “clicking” sound. If
the charging connector and charging
terminal are not connected properly,
this may cause a fire.
Information
Charging connector AUTO/LOCK mode
The charging connector is locked in the
inlet at a different period according to
which mode is selected.
• LOCK mode : The connector locks
when the charging connector is plugged
into the charging inlet.
• AUTO mode : The connector locks
when charging starts.

2. Check if the power lamp (green) illuminates on the control box.
3. Depress the brake pedal and apply the parking brake.

Parking brake warning light
This warning light illuminates:

[When y
ou set the ignition switch or
the Engine Start/Stop button to the
ON position.

- The parking brake light illuminates
for about 3 seconds and will then
turn off once the parking brake is
released.

[ Whenever the parking brake is
applied.

[ Whenever the brake fluid level in the
reservoir is low.
- If the warning light illuminates with the parking brake released, it
indicates the brake fluid level in the
reservoir is low.

[ Whenever the regenerative brake
does not operate.
If the brake fluid level in the reservoir is
low:
1. Drive carefully to the nearest safe loca
tion and stop your vehicle.
2. With the engine stopped, check the brake fluid level immediately and add
fluid as required (For more details,
refer to “Brake Fluid” section in
chapter 9). After adding brake fluid,
check all brake components for fluid
leaks. If a brake fluid leak is found, or
if the warning light remains on, or if
the brakes do not operate properly, do
not drive the vehicle. Have the vehicle
inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer. Dual-diagonal braking system
Your vehicle is equipped with dual-
diagonal br

aking system. This means you
still have braking on two wheels even if
one of the dual systems should fail.
With only one of the dual systems
working, more than normal pedal travel
and greater pedal pressure is required to
stop the vehicle.
Also, the vehicle will not stop in as short
a distance with only a portion of the
brake system working.
If you experience a malfunction with
the brake system while driving, attempt
to slow your vehicle by coasting or
by using engine braking. You may be
able to reduce your vehicle speed by
manually downshifting to a lower gear.
Use Manual Shift Mode using either the
gear shift button or the paddle shifters (if
equipped) to shift to a lower gear.
WARNING
Parking Brake & Brake Fluid Warning
Light
Driving the vehicle with a warning light
ON is dangerous. If the Parking Brake
warning light illuminates with the
parking brake released, it indicates that
the brake fluid level is low.
If this occurs, have the vehicle
inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.

Driving the vehicle after it has been
parked on a hill
1. With the gear in P (Park), apply your brakes and hold the brake pedal down
while you:

[ Start your engine;

[ Shift into gear; and

[ Release the parking brake.
2. Slowly remove your foot from the brake pedal.
3. Drive slowly until the trailer is clear of the chocks.
4. Stop and have someone pick up and store the chocks.
Maintenance when Towing a
Trailer
Your vehicle will need service more
often when you regularly pull a trailer.
Important items to pay particular
attention to include engine oil,
transmission fluid, axle lubricant and
cooling system fluid. Brake condition
is another important item to frequently
check. If you’re trailering, it’s a good
idea to review these items before
you start your trip. Don’t forget to
also maintain your trailer and hitch.
Follow the maintenance schedule that
accompanied your trailer and check it
periodically. Preferably, conduct the
check at the start of each day’s driving.
Most importantly, all hitch nuts and bolts
should be tight.
NOTICE
To prevent vehicle damage:

[Due to higher load during trailer
usage, overheating might occur on
hot days or during uphill driving.
If the coolant gauge indicates
over-heating, switch off the air
conditioner and stop the vehicle in a
safe area to cool down the engine.

[ Do not switch off the engine while
the coolant gauge indicates over-
heating.
(Keep the engine idle to cool down
the engine)

[ When towing check transmission
fluid more frequently.

[ If your vehicle is not equipped with
an air conditioner, you should install
a condenser fan to improve engine
performance when towing a trailer.
