or suspected have the tireinspected by a tire professional.Tires can be damaged duringoff-road use, so inspection afteroff-road use is alsorecommended.
Age
WARNING: Tires degradeover time depending on manyfactors such as weather, storageconditions, and conditions of use(load, speed, inflation pressure)the tires experience throughouttheir lives.
WARNING: In general, tiresshould be replaced after sixyears regardless of tread wear. However, heat caused by hotclimates or frequent high loadingconditions can accelerate theaging process and may requiretires to be replaced morefrequently.
WARNING: You shouldreplace your spare tire when youreplace the road tires or after sixyears due to aging even if it hasnot been used.
U.S. DOT Tire IdentificationNumber
Both United States and CanadaFederal regulations require tiremanufacturers to placestandardized information on thesidewall of all tires. Thisinformation identifies anddescribes the fundamentalcharacteristics of the tire and alsoprovides a U.S. DOT TireIdentification Number for safetystandard certification and in caseof a recall.
This begins with the letters DOTand indicates that the tire meetsall federal standards. The nexttwo numbers or letters are theplant code designating where itwas manufactured, the next twoare the tire size code and the lastfour numbers represent the weekand year the tire was built. Forexample, the numbers 317 meanthe 31st week of 1997. After 2000the numbers go to four digits. Forexample, 2501 means the 25thweek of 2001. The numbers inbetween are identification codesused for traceability. Thisinformation is used to contactcustomers if a tire defect requiresa recall.

•Stand at a minimum of 12 ft(3.66 m) away from the wheeland tire assembly.
•Use both eye and earprotection.
Important: Remember to replacethe wheel valve stems when theroad tires are replaced on yourvehicle.
It is recommended that the twofront tires or two rear tiresgenerally be replaced as a pair.
The tire pressure sensors mountedin the wheels (originally installedon your vehicle) are not designedto be used in aftermarket wheels.
The use of wheels or tires notrecommended by Ford MotorCompany may affect the
operation of your tire pressuremonitoring system.
If the tire pressure monitoringsystem indicator is flashing, yoursystem is malfunctioning. Yourreplacement tire might beincompatible with your tirepressure monitoring system, orsome component of the systemmay be damaged.
Safety Practices
WARNING: If your vehicleis stuck in snow, mud or sand, donot rapidly spin the tires;spinning the tires can tear thetire and cause an explosion. Atire can explode in as little asthree to five seconds.
WARNING: Do not spin thewheels at over 34 mph(55 km/h). The tires may fail andinjure a passenger or bystander.
Driving habits have a great dealto do with your tire mileage andsafety.
*Observe posted speed limits.
*Avoid fast starts, stops and turns.
*Avoid potholes and objects onthe road.
*Do not run over curbs or hit thetire against a curb when parking.
Highway Hazards
No matter how carefully you drivethere’s always the possibility thatyou may eventually have a flat tireon the highway. Drive slowly to the
closest safe area out of traffic. This may further damage the flattire, but your safety is moreimportant.

If you feel a sudden vibration orride disturbance while driving, oryou suspect your tire or vehiclehas been damaged, immediatelyreduce your speed. Drive withcaution until you can safely pulloff the road. Stop and inspect thetires for damage. If a tire isunder-inflated or damaged, deflate it, remove wheel andreplace it with your spare tire andwheel. If you cannot detect acause, have the vehicle towed tothe nearest repair facility or tiredealer to have the vehicleinspected.
Tire and Wheel Alignment
A bad jolt from hitting a curb orpothole can cause the front endof your vehicle to become
misaligned or cause damage toyour tires. If your vehicle seems topull to one side when you’redriving, the wheels may be out ofalignment. Have an authorizeddealer check the wheel alignmentperiodically.
Wheel misalignment in the frontor the rear can cause uneven andrapid treadwear of your tires andshould be corrected by anauthorized dealer. Front-wheeldrive vehicles and those with anindependent rear suspension (ifequipped) may require alignmentof all four wheels.
The tires should also be balancedperiodically. An unbalanced tireand wheel assembly may result inirregular tire wear.
Tire Rotation
Note:If your tires show unevenwear ask an authorized dealer tocheck for and correct any wheelmisalignment, tire imbalance ormechanical problem involvedbefore tire rotation.
Note:Your vehicle may beequipped with a dissimilar sparewheel and tire assembly. Adissimilar spare wheel and tireassembly is defined as a sparewheel and tire assembly that isdifferent in brand, size orappearance from the road tires andwheels. If you have a dissimilarspare wheel and tire assembly it isintended for temporary use onlyand should not be used in a tirerotation.
Note:After having your tiresrotated, inflation pressure must bechecked and adjusted to thevehicle requirements.
Rotating your tires at therecommended interval (asindicated in the ScheduledMaintenance chapter) will helpyour tires wear more evenly, providing better tire performanceand longer tire life. Sometimesirregular tire wear can becorrected by rotating the tires.

USING SUMMER TIRES
Summer tires provide superiorperformance on wet and dry roads.Summer tires do not have the Mud andSnow (M+S or M/S) tire traction rating onthe tire sidewall. Since summer tires do nothave the same traction performance asAll-season or Snow tires, we do notrecommend using summer tires whentemperatures drop to about 45°F (7°C) orbelow (depending on tire wear andenvironmental conditions) or in snow and
ice conditions. Like any tire, summer tireperformance is affected by tire wear andenvironmental conditions. If you must drivein those conditions, we recommend usingMud and Snow (M+S, M/S), All-season orSnow tires.
Always store your summer tires indoors attemperatures above 19°F (-7°C). Therubber compounds used in these tires loseflexibility and may develop surface cracksin the tread area at temperatures below19°F (-7°C). If the tires have beensubjected to 19°F (-7°C) or less, warmthem in a heated space to at least 41°F(5°C) for at least 24 hours before installingthem on a vehicle, or moving the vehiclewith the tires installed, or checking tireinflation. Do not place tires near heatersor heating devices used to warm the roomwhere the tires are stored. Do not applyheat or blow heated air directly on the tires.Always inspect the tires after storageperiods and before use.

Wheels
Your vehicle has unique wheels matchedto the tires. These wheels are moresusceptible to damage due to theirdiameter, width, and low profile tires.
To avoid damage to your wheels:
•Maintain proper tire pressure
•When installing wheels, always torquelug nuts to specification with a torquewrench.
•Inspect your wheels for damage on aregular basis. If a wheel is damaged, replace it immediately.
•In the event that you encounter aabnormally harsh impact, inspect theouter diameter of your wheels, bothinside and out, for damage.

Note:For the base 5-star wheel, you canidentify the correct wheel size by checkingbehind the wheel spokes.
To make sure that your tires perform asintended, it is important that you properlymaintain your tires:
•Your original equipment tires areoptimized for performance in both wetand dry conditions. We do notrecommend using the originalequipment tires when temperaturesdrop to about 45°F (7°C) or below(depending on tire wear andenvironmental conditions) or in snowand ice conditions.
•The tires were designed for track useand may exhibit significantly reducedtread life and increased tire noisecompared to the standard equipmenttires under normal driving conditions.Increasing the front camber settingsbeyond the factory settings may furtheraccelerate tread wear and induce tirenoise.
•For tire pressures, see the placardlocated on the B-pillar inside the driverdoor.
•Always maintain your tire pressuresaccording to the tire informationplacard on the driver door jamb, usingan accurate gauge.
•Tire pressures are specified cold andshould be checked after the vehicle hasbeen parked for at least three hours.Do not reduce the pressure of warmtires.
•Check your tire pressure often tomaintain it properly. Tire pressure candiminish over time and fluctuate withtemperature.
•Do not overload your vehicle.Maximum vehicle and axle weights arelisted on the tire information placard.
•Extra caution should be taken whenoperating the vehicle near its maximumload, including assuring proper tirepressure and reducing speeds.
•Extra caution should be taken whenoperating on rough roads to avoidimpacts that could cause tire damage.
•In the event that you encounter anabnormally harsh impact, inspect yourtires for damage.
•Inspect your tires for damage on aregular basis. If a tire is damaged, immediately replace it.
•Proper suspension alignment is criticalfor maximum performance andoptimal tire wear. If you notice uneventire wear, have your alignment checked.
•Rotate tires as recommended in thetire rotation information. See Tire Care,in the Wheels and Tires Chapter of theOwner's Manual.
•Follow the rotation pattern for"Vehicles equipped with different sizetires on the front and rear axle".
•When replacing tires, the only way tomaintain original performance is to usethe original equipment tire. If a differenttire is used, it should be the same size, speed rating and load rating and bereplaced as a set of four. Never mix tirebrands.

USING WINTER TIRES
Inflate the winter tires to the same tirepressures as those listed in the tirepressures table.
WARNING: Snow tires must be thesame size, load index and speed ratingas those originally provided by Ford. Useof any tire or wheel not recommendedby Ford can affect the safety andperformance of your vehicle, which couldresult in an increased risk of loss ofcontrol, vehicle rollover, personal injuryand death. Additionally, the use ofnon-recommended tires and wheels cancause steering, suspension, axle, transfercase or power transfer unit failure.Follow the Ford recommended tireinflation pressure found on the SafetyCompliance Certification Label (on thedoor hinge pillar, door latch post or thedoor edge that meets the door latchpost, next to the driver seat), or TireLabel on the B-Pillar or the edge of thedriver door. Failure to follow the tirepressure recommendations can causeuneven treadwear patterns andadversely affect the way your vehiclehandles.
USING SNOW CHAINS
WARNING: Aggressive driving inany road conditions can cause you tolose control of your vehicle increasingthe risk of severe personal injury orproperty damage. The traction controlactivating is an indication that at leastsome of the tires have exceeded theirability to grip the road; this may lead toan increased risk of loss of vehiclecontrol, vehicle rollover, personal injuryand death. If you experience a severeroad event, slow down.
The tires on your vehicle could haveall-weather treads to provide traction inrain and snow. In some climates you willneed to use snow tires and chains on yourvehicle in emergency situations or ifrequired by law.
Note:The suspension insulation andbumpers will help prevent vehicle damage.Do not remove these components from yourvehicle when using snow tires and chains.
Follow these guidelines when using snowtires and chains:
•When possible, avoid fully loading yourvehicle.
•Chains could damage aluminumwheels.
•Use ultra low profile cables, 10 mm orless in dimension as measured on thesidewall of your tire, with 235/55R 17,235/50R18 and 255/40R19 on the rearaxle only.
•Do not use snow chains or cables with265/40R19, 275/40R19, 305/30R19,315/30R19, and 265/35R20
•Not all S-class snow chains or cablesmeet these restrictions. Chains of thissize restriction will include a tensioningdevice.

2023 Mustang (CZG) Canada/United States of America, Vehicles Built From: 14-11-2022, enUSA, Edition date: 202209, First-PrintingWheels and TiresE278852
•Purchase chains or cables from amanufacturer that clearly labels bodyto tire dimension restrictions. The snowchains or cables must be mounted inpairs on the front or the rear tires only.
•Do not exceed 30 mph (50 km/h) ifrecommended by the chainmanufacturer while using snow chains.
•Install cables securely, verifying thatthe cables do not touch any wiring, brake lines or fuel lines.
•Drive cautiously. If you hear the cablesrub or bang against the vehicle, stopand retighten them. If this does notwork, remove the cables to preventvehicle damage.
•Remove the tire chains when they areno longer needed. Do not use tirechains on dry roads.
If you have any questions regarding snowchains or cables, please contact yourauthorized dealer.
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING
SYSTEM
WARNING: The tire pressuremonitoring system is not a substitute formanually checking tire pressures. Youshould periodically check tire pressuresusing a pressure gauge. Failure tocorrectly maintain tire pressures couldincrease the risk of tire failure, loss ofcontrol, vehicle rollover and personalinjury.
WARNING: If the tire pressuremonitor sensor becomes damaged itmay not function.
Note:You should only use tire sealants inroadside emergencies as they could causedamage to the tire pressure monitoringsystem sensor.
Each tire, including the spare (ifprovided), should be checkedmonthly when cold and inflatedto the inflation pressure recommended bythe vehicle manufacturer on the vehicleplacard or tire inflation pressure label. (Ifyour vehicle has tires of a different sizethan the size indicated on the vehicleplacard or tire inflation pressure label, youshould determine the proper tire inflationpressure for those tires).
As an added safety feature, your vehiclehas been equipped with a Tire PressureMonitoring System (TPMS) thatilluminates a low tire pressure telltalewhen one or more of your tires issignificantly under-inflated. Accordingly, when the low tire pressure telltaleilluminates, you should stop and checkyour tires as soon as possible, and inflatethem to the proper pressure. Driving on asignificantly under-inflated tire causes thetire to overheat and can lead to tire failure.Under-inflation also reduces fuel efficiencyand tire tread life, and could affect thevehicle’s handling and stopping ability.
Please note that the TPMS is not asubstitute for proper tire maintenance, andit is the driver’s responsibility to maintaincorrect tire pressure, even if under-inflationhas not reached the level to triggerillumination of the TPMS low tire pressuretelltale.
Your vehicle has also been equipped witha TPMS malfunction indicator to indicatewhen the system is not operating properly. The TPMS malfunction indicator iscombined with the low tire pressuretelltale. When the system detects amalfunction, the telltale will flash forapproximately one minute and then remaincontinuously illuminated. This sequencewill continue upon subsequent vehiclestart-ups as long as the malfunction exists.
