function or a vehicle malfunction, /rst reset the
ch arging cable operating unit. Todo this, discon-
nect thech arging cable from theve hicle and from
th e mains soc ket and waitfor appr oximately /ve
seconds. If the malfunction persists aTer the
ch arging cable is reconnected, charging at the
mains soc ket is not possible. The charging cable
must be replaced or theve hicle plug must be
ch ecked at a quali/ed specialist workshop,
depending on the indicator. F

mains soc ket are damaged, you could receive

Avoid mechanical damage such as crush-
ing, abrading or driving overth e cable. #
Have a damaged vehicle soc ketre placed
at a quali/ed specialist workshop as
soon as possible. #
Never connect thech arging cable to a
damaged vehicle soc ket. *

TE Damage due toove rheating of
ch arging cable and charging cable con-
nector During
thech arging process, thech arging
cable and charging cable connector can heat
up within their permissible limit values.
The permissible limit values are in0uenced by
th efo llowing factors:
R the po wer supply system and thech arging
cable are not damaged
R the inst ructions for handling thech arging
cable and the control element on the
ch arging cable ha vebeen obser ved #
Ifth ech arging cable or charging cable
connector becomes too hot, ha vethe
po we r supply system checked. *

NOOTE
TE Damaged or dirty vehicle soc ket
when the soc ket 0ap is open #
Alwayske ep the soc ket co ver and the
soc ket 0ap closed when there is no
ch arging cable connected. This pr otects
th eve hicle soc ket from dirt and damage. #
Make sure that the soc ket co ver is
closed proper lybefore closing the soc ket
0ap. This can otherwise result in damage
which may pr event the soc ket 0ap from
being opened again. *

excessive forc e (maximum 300 N)
to insert thech arging cable connector into the

Insert thech arging cable connector into vehi-
cle soc ket2 tothe stop. If thewa llbox/
ch arging station is not equipped with a charg-
ing cable, inse rtthe plug of theve hicle's
ch arging cable into thewa llbox/charging sta-
tion soc ketto the stop.
Make sure that thech arging cable is not taut
when inser ted.
The # indicator lamp 6and soc ket lamp
5 0ash orange and, as soon as the high-volt-
age battery is charge d, gre en.
When thech arging cable is connected totheve hi-
cle, theve hicle cann otbe star ted or mo ved.
At the start of thech arging process, thech arging
side is shown in the Instrument Display with a
ch arging prediction. The charging prediction 202

fers to the time at which the high-voltage bat-
te ry will be fully charge d.
% Depending on thete mp erature, thefa n and
bat tery cooling system may audibly switch on
during thech arging process.
% Ifth eve hicle is idle for lengt hyperiods and
connected tothe mains suppl y,the high-volt-
age battery will be rech arge d automatically as
needed or when electrical consumers are
activated (e.g. the pre-entry climate control).
% The vehicle is equipped with an elect rical fuse
which pr otects it against overvoltage in the
mains suppl y.This electrical fuse may trip dur-
ing se vere thunderstorms, forex ample, and
may cause the fuse in the building totrip or
may inter rupt thech arging process. These
functions pr otect theve hicle.
ATer the fuse in the building is switched on
again, thech arging process resumes automat-
icall y.Fo llowing an inter ruption in the po wer
supply without the fuse in the building being
tripped, it may take up to te n minutes for
ch arging toresume automaticall y. Ending t Ending t

nector, repeat the unlocking procedure. If the
ch arging cable connector is still loc ked, con-
ta ct a quali/ed specialist workshop. #
Close the soc ket co ver and the soc ket 0ap.
% ATer thech arging cable connector has been
disconnected, the leT % indicator lamp 1
on theve hicle soc ketre mains lit for some
time before switching o.. #
Remo vethech arging cable connector from
th e mains soc ket, or from the soc ket on the
wa llbox/charging station, and st owtheve hi-
cle's charging cable safely in theve hicle

cient ly,it can rollawa y in an uncontrolled way
eve n at a slight downhill gradient. #
On uphill or downhill gradients, turn the
front wheels so that theve hicle rolls
to wa rdsth eke rb if it starts moving. #

persons or road users.

ve hicle in motion by,fo rex ample:
R releasing the parking brake.
R changing the transmission position.

driving o., make sure that there are no
obstacles such as curbs under or in the
immediate vicinity of the body. #

brake pedal. #
Ongradients, turn the front wheels so that the
