Locking and unlocking using theremote key
All doors and the trunk lid can be locked andunlocked simultaneously using the buttons onthe remote key.

Locking with remote key
The illustration is generic - details may vary according tovehicle model.
–Press the button on the remote key tolock the vehicle.
To activate the locking sequence, the driver's
door must be closed5. If any of the other doors orthe trunk lid are open, they will be locked and thealarm will be armed once they are closed.
NOTE
Be aware of the risk of locking the remotekey in the vehicle.
If the remote key or key tag is left in thevehicle, it will be deactivated when thevehicle is locked and the alarm set usinganother valid key. The key will be reacti-vated when the vehicle is unlocked.
If the remote key or Red Key is left in thevehicle, it will be deactivated even if thevehicle is locked using Volvo On Call, andwill be reactivated when the vehicle isunlocked using Volvo On Call or anothervalid key.

Locking when the trunk lid is open
NOTE
If the vehicle is locked and the trunk lid is stillopen, make sure that the remote key is notleft in the trunk when the trunk lid is closed
and the entire vehicle is locked6.

Unlocking with remote key
–Press the button on the remote key tounlock the vehicle.
Automatic relocking
If none of the doors or trunk lid are opened withintwo minutes after being unlocked, they will auto-matically relock. This function reduces the risk ofinadvertently leaving the vehicle unlocked.

Remote key not working
NOTE
Move closer to the vehicle and try to unlock itagain.
If the remote key is not working to lock or unlockthe vehicle, its battery may be discharged. Usethe detachable key blade to lock/unlock the driv-er's door instead.

The battery in the smaller key without buttons7
(the Key Tag) cannot be replaced. A new key canbe ordered from an authorized Volvo workshop.

CAUTION
An end-of-life Key Tag must be turned in toan authorized Volvo workshop. The key mustbe deleted from the vehicle because it canstill be used to start the vehicle via backupstart.
Opening the key and replacing the
battery
Hold the remote key with the front side(with the Volvo logo) facing up and move thebutton on the key ring section to the right.Slide the front cover slightly upward.
The cover will loosen and can beremoved from the key.
Turn the key over, move the button to theside and slide the rear cover slightly upward.

Locking and unlocking from insidethe vehicle
The doors and trunk lid can be locked andunlocked from inside the vehicle using the cen-tral lock buttons in the front doors.

–Press the button to unlock all side doorsand the trunk lid.

–Pull either of the side door inside openinghandles and release.
>Depending on the remote key settings,either all doors will be unlocked or just theselected door will be unlocked andopened.

Locking using the front door buttons
–Press the button (both front doors mustbe closed).
>All doors and the trunk lid will lock.

Locking using the rear door button *

Cruise control
Cruise Control (CC10) can help the driver main-tain an even speed to provide a more relaxingdriving experience on highways and long,straight roads with even traffic flows.

In vehicles equipped with Adaptive Cruise

WARNING
The function is supplementary driver sup-port intended to facilitate driving and helpmake it safer – it cannot handle all situa-tions in all traffic, weather and road condi-tions.
The driver is advised to read all sectionsin the Owner's Manual about this functionto learn of its limitations, which the drivermust be aware of before using the func-tion.
Driver support functions are not a substi-tute for the driver's attention and judg-ment. The driver is always responsible forensuring the vehicle is driven in a safemanner, at the appropriate speed, with anappropriate distance to other vehicles,and in accordance with current trafficrules and regulations.

Using engine braking instead of
applying the brakes
Cruise Control regulates speed by lightly applyingthe brakes. On downgrades, it can sometimes bedesirable to roll a bit faster and let speed bereduced instead by engine braking alone. Thedriver can temporarily disengage the Cruise Con-trol braking function.

Reactivating Cruise Control fromstandby mode
Cruise Control (CC14) can be temporarily putinto standby mode and then reactivated.
To start Cruise Control from standby mode:
–Press the button on the steering wheel(1).
>The Cruise Control marking in the instru-ment panel will change from GRAY toWHITE and the vehicle will then return tothe most recently set speed.

To start Cruise Control from standby mode:
–Press the button on the steering wheel(2).
>The Cruise Control markings and symbolsin the instrument panel will change fromGRAY to WHITE and the vehicle's currentspeed will be set.

WARNING
A noticeable increase in speed may follow
when the speed is resumed with the steering wheel button.

–Change a set speed by pressing the (1)
or (2) buttons briefly or by pressing andholding them:
Brief press: Each press changes thespeed in +/- 5 km/h (+/- 5 mph) incre-ments.
Press and hold: Release the button whenthe set speed indicator (3) has moved tothe desired speed.

NOTE
For vehicles without Adaptive Cruise Control*,speed instead increases by +/- 1km/h(+/- 1 mph) each time the button is pressed.
The most recently set speed will be stored.
If speed is increased by depressing the accelera-
tor pedal while pressing the (1) button onthe steering wheel, the vehicle's speed when thebutton is pressed will be stored as the set speed.
Temporarily increasing speed using the accelera-tor pedal, e.g. when passing another vehicle, willnot affect the setting. The vehicle will return tothe set speed when the accelerator pedal isreleased.

Automatic transmission
The driver support functions can follow anothervehicle at speeds from a standstill up to200 km/h (125 mph).
Pilot Assist can provide steering assistance fromnear-stationary speeds up to 140 km/h(87 mph).
The lowest speed that can be set is 30 km/h(20 mph). When following another vehicle, ACCcan monitor that vehicle's speed and slow yourown vehicle down to a standstill, but it is not pos-sible to set speeds lower than 30 km/h(20 mph).

Pilot Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control*
(ACC39) have a special brake function in slowtraffic and while stationary.
Braking function in slow traffic and at a
standstill
In slow-moving, stop-and-go traffic or when stop-ped at a traffic light, driving will resume automati-cally if the vehicle is stopped for less thanapprox. 3 seconds. If it takes more than 3 sec-onds for the vehicle ahead to begin moving again,the driver support function will go into standbymode and the auto-hold brake function will acti-vate.
–The function can be reactivated by:
Pressing the button on the steeringwheel keypad.
Pressing the accelerator pedal.
>The function will resume following thevehicle ahead if it begins to move withinapprox. 6 seconds.

Warning signals vary depending on the vehicle'sintended direction of travel. Depending on thesteering wheel position, warnings may be givenfor obstacles diagonally in front of or behind thevehicle, not only directly behind the vehicle.
