Using home safe lighting
Some of the exterior lights remain on to illumi-nate the area around the vehicle. This is calledhome safe lighting.
To activate home safe lighting:
1.Switch off the ignition.
2. Push the left-side steering wheel levertoward the dashboard and release.
3. Exit the vehicle and lock the doors.
When the function is activated, a symbol will beshown in the instrument panel and the parkinglights, outer door handle lights* and the licenseplate lights will be illuminated.
The length of time home safe lighting remainsilluminated can be set in the center display.

Welcome Light
Approach lighting is activated when the vehicleis unlocked and can be used to provide light asyou walk toward the vehicle.
The function is activated when the remote key isused for unlocking. The parking lights, outer doorhandle lights*, license plate lights, interior ceilinglights, footwell lighting and trunk/cargo compart-ment lighting will be illuminated. If a door isopened while the function is activated, the light-ing in the outer door handle* and the interiorlighting will remain illuminated for a longer periodof time.
This function can be activated and deactivated inthe center display.

Interior Lighting
The interior is equipped with several differenttypes of lighting to improve the experience. Thisincludes reading lamps, glove box lighting andground lighting.
All lighting in the passenger compartment can beturned on and off manually within 5 minutesafter:
the engine has been switched off and theignition is in mode 0.
the vehicle is unlocked but the engine hasnot been started.

Keyless trunk lid unlock*
With keyless locking/unlocking, touching thepressure-sensitive indentation on the trunk lidhandle will unlock the trunk lid.
NOTE
One of the vehicle's remote keys must bewithin range behind the vehicle for unlockingto be possible.
The trunk lid is held closed by an electronic lock-ing mechanism.
To open:
1.Lightly press the rubberized pressure plateon the underside of the trunk lid handle.
> The lock will disengage.
2. Lift the outer handle to open the trunk lid.
CAUTION
Only light pressure on the rubberized pres-sure plate is necessary to release thetrunk lid's locking mechanism.
Use the handle to lift the trunk lid and donot apply force to the rubberized pressureplate. Too much force can damage thepressure plate's electrical connections.
Hands-free opening of the trunk lid is also possi-ble using a foot movement under the rearbumper.
Kicking motion within the sensor's activation area.
–Make one slow forward kicking motion withyour foot under the left section of the rearbumper. Take a step back. Do not touch thebumper.
>A brief audible signal will sound whenopening is activated – the trunk lid willopen/close.
If several opening attempts have been madewithout the remote key in range behind the vehi-cle, foot movement operation will not be availablefor a short period of time.
Do not keep your foot under the vehicle in a kick-ing motion. This may prevent activation.

Locking and unlocking from insidethe vehicle
The doors and trunk lid can be locked andunlocked from inside the vehicle using the cen-tral lock buttons in the front doors.

–Pull either of the side door inside openinghandles and release.

1. Pull the handle downward to release thetrunk lid.
>The trunk lid will open.
2. After use, the handle must be pushed backto its original position before the trunk lid canbe closed.
NOTE
The handle is not intended to be used tosecure the trunk lid, e.g. when transportinglong objects.
WARNING
Lock the doors and trunk lid when thevehicle is parked and keep the remotekeys out of reach of children. Unsuper-vised children could lock themselves inthe trunk and be injured.
On hot days, the temperature in the trunkand inside the vehicle could rise veryquickly. Exposure to these high tempera-tures, even for a short time, could lead toheat-related injury or fatality. Small chil-dren are particularly at risk.

Activating and deactivating childsafety locks
The child safety locks help prevent the reardoors from being able to be opened from theinside.
The child safety locks can be either manual orelectric*.

The vehicle can be unlocked and disarmed evenif the remote key is not functioning, e.g. if thebattery is discharged.
1. Open the driver's door using the detachablekey blade.
> This will trigger the alarm.

2. Place the remote key on the key symbol inthe backup reader in the tunnel console'scup holder.
3.Turn the start knob clockwise and release.
> The alarm will be disarmed.
Turning off a triggered alarm
–Press the unlock button on the remote keyor put the ignition into mode I by turning thestart knob clockwise and then releasing it.
Automatically arming and disarming the
alarm
Automatically arming the alarm helps preventinadvertently leaving the vehicle without alarmprotection.
If the vehicle is unlocked using the remote key(and the alarm is disarmed) but none of thedoors or trunk lid is opened within two minutes,the alarm will be automatically rearmed. The vehi-cle will also re-lock.
On some markets, the alarm will be automaticallyarmed following a slight delay after the driver'sdoor has been opened and closed without beinglocked.
To change this setting:
1.Tap Settings in the center display's Topview.
2.Tap My CarLocking.
3.Select Passive Arming Deactivation totemporarily deactivate the function.

Stopping hybrid battery charging
To stop charging of the hybrid battery, unlockthe vehicle, unplug the charging cable from thevehicle's charging socket and then unplug thecable from the 120/240 V outlet (alternatingcurrent).
CAUTION
Before the charging cable is removed fromthe vehicle's charging socket, the vehiclemust be unlocked using the unlock button onthe remote key. This must be done even if thevehicle's doors are already unlocked. If thevehicle is not unlocked using the unlock but-ton, the charging cable or system may bedamaged.
NOTE
Always unlock the vehicle so that charging iscut off before the connection to the120/240 V outlet (AC, alternating current) isdisconnected. Note that the charging cablemust be disconnected from the vehicle'scharging socket before it is disconnectedfrom the 120/240 V outlet, partly to preventdamage to the system and party to preventunintentional interruption of charging.
Unlock the vehicle with the remote key.Charging will stop.
Press the lock button on the chargingcable's handle. The handle will be released/unlocked. Unplug the cable from the vehi-cle's charging socket and close the chargerdoor.
Unplug the cable from the 120/240 V outlet.
Stow the charging cable in the storage com-partment on the right side of the trunk.
Charging cable automatically locks
If the charging cable cannot be removed from thecharging socket, it will automatically lock intoplace again after unlocking to maximize chargingand range and to enable preconditioning beforedriving. The charging cable can be removed againif the vehicle is unlocked using the remote key.For vehicles with Passive Entry*, the handle canbe used to lock and unlock.

NOTE
The sealing compound effectively seals tireswith punctures in the tread but may not beable to fully seal tires with punctures in thesidewall. Do not use the tire sealing systemon tires with large tears, cracks or similardamage.
NOTE
The compressor is intended for temporary tiresealing and is approved by Volvo.
Location
The tire sealing system is located in a foam blockunder the floor of the trunk.
Sealing compound expiration date
The sealing compound bottle must be replaced ifits expiration date has passed (see the decal onthe bottle). Handle the old bottle as hazardouswaste.
