Working
on
the
hybrid
system
General
information
The manufacturer of your vehicle recommends that no changes be made to the vehicle, for#cin#j
stance the retrofitting of accessories, that will have an effect on the vehicle#ss hybrid system.
Safety

Improperly executed work, in particular
maintenance and repair on the high-voltage
system, can lead to electric shock. There is a
risk of injury, fire and danger to life.

Opening

Remote
controlGeneral
information
The vehicle is supplied with two remote con#j trols with integrated key.
Each remote control contains a replaceable battery. Replacing the battery, refer to
page 63.
You may set the key functions depending on the optional features and country-specific ver#jsion. Settings, refer to page 76.
The vehicle stores personal settings for every
remote control. Driver profile, refer to
page 74.
The remote controls hold information about re#j
quired maintenance. Service data in the re#j mote control, refer to page 322.
Safety
information WARNING
People or animals in the vehicle can lock
the doors from the inside and lock themselves
in. In this case, the vehicle cannot be opened
from the outside. There is a risk of injury. Take the remote control with you so that the vehiclecan be opened from the outside.'

Unlocking
Press button on the remote control.
Depending on the settings, refer to page 76,
the following access points are unlocked:
'yDriver's door.
Press the button of the remote control
again to unlock the other vehicle access
points.'yAll doors and tailgate.
In addition, the following functions are exe#j
cuted:
'yThe settings stored in the driver profile, re#j
fer to page 74, are applied.'yThe driver's seat is set to the last position
saved in the driver's profile. This function
must be activated in the settings, refer to page 76.'yThe interior lights are switched on, unless
they were manually switched off. Switch
the interior lights on/off manually, refer to
page 154.'yDepending on the settings, the welcome
light and headlight courtesy delay feature,
refer to page 150, are switched on.
Press the remote control button again to switch on Welcome Light Carpet for the al#j
ready unlocked vehicle.'yAutomatically folded in exterior mirrors are folded open. This function must be acti#jvated in the settings, refer to page 76.'yThe rear sliding visor of the glass sunroof
is moved into the position where it was
prior to locking.'yWith anti-theft protection: Anti-theft pro#j
tection is switched off.'yThe alarm system, refer to page 78, is
switched off.
After opening one of the front doors, the vehi#j cle is ready for operation, refer to page 22.
The light functions may depend on the ambi#j
ent brightness.
Convenient
opening Press and hold this button on the re#jmote control after unlocking.
The windows and the glass sunroof are
opened, as long as the button on the remote
control is pressed.
Locking
1.Close the driver's door.2. Press button on the remote control.'yAll doors and the tailgate are locked.'yThe rear sliding visor of the glass sunroof
is closed.'yThe exterior mirrors are folded in. This
function must be activated in the settings, refer to page 76.'yWith anti-theft protection: Anti-theft pro#j
tection is switched on. This prevents the doors from being unlocked using the lock
buttons or the door openers.'yThe alarm system, refer to page 78, is
switched on.
If the drive-ready state is still switched on
when you lock the vehicle, the vehicle horn honks twice. In this case, the drive-ready statemust be switched off by means of the Start/Stop button.

that the area of movement of the doors is clear
during convenient closing.'

Replacing
the
battery1.Remove the integrated key from the re#j
mote control, refer to page 68.2.Place the integrated key underneath the
battery compartment cover, arrow 1, and
lift the cover with a lever movement of the integrated key, arrow 2.3.Push battery in the direction of the arrowusing a pointed object and lift it out.4.Insert a type CR 2032 battery with the pos#jitive side facing up.5.Press the cover closed.
Have old batteries disposed of by a
dealer#ss service center or another
qualified service center or repair shop
or take them to a collection point.
Additional
remote
controlsAdditional remote controls are available from adealer#ss service center or another qualified
service center or repair shop.
Loss
of
the
remote
controls
A lost remote control can be blocked and re#j
placed by a dealer#ss service center or another
qualified service center or repair shop.
Malfunction
General
information
A Check Control message, refer to page 134,
is displayed.
Remote control detection by the vehicle may malfunction under the following circumstan#j
ces:'yThe battery of the remote control is dis#j charged. Replacing the battery, refer to
page 63.'yInterference of the radio connection from
transmission towers or other equipmentwith high transmitting power.'yShielding of the remote control due tometal objects.
Do not transport the remote control to#j gether with metal objects.'yInterference of the radio connection from mobile phones or other electronic devices
in direct proximity to the remote control.
Do not transport the remote control to#jgether with electronic devices.'yInterference of radio transmission by a
charging process of mobile devices, for in#j stance charging of a mobile phone.'yThe remote control is in direct proximity ofthe wireless charging tray.
Place the remote control down at a differ#j
ent location.
In the case of interference, the vehicle can be
unlocked and locked from the outside with the
integrated key, refer to page 68.

Switching
the
drive-ready
state
on
via
emergency
detection
of
the
remote
control1.Hold the remote control with its back against the marked area on the steering
column.2.Switch on drive-ready state within 10 sec#j
onds.
If the remote control is not detected, slightly
change the position of the remote control and repeat the procedure.
BMW
display
key
General
information The BMW display key is supplied with an addi#j
tional mechanical key. If the display key is
used, the mechanical key should be carried
with you, for instance in the wallet.
The display key supports all functions of the
standard remote control.
In addition, the following functions are also available:
'yDisplay status of doors and windows.'yDisplay status of the alarm system.'yOperate stationary climate control.'yAdjust charging times.'yCall up range with available fuel and the
current battery charge state.'yDisplay charge state of the high-voltage
