driving at the speed you determine by the
position of the accelerator pedal.
You can also activate Distance Pilot DISTRONIC
when stationary. The lowest speed that can be
set is 20 mph (30 km/h).

GWARNING
If you call up the stored speed and it differs
from the currents peed, the vehicle acceler-
ates or decelerates. If you do not know the
stored speed, the vehicle could accelerateo r
brake unexpectedly. There is arisk of an acci-

to that of the vehicle in front. If no vehicle is
detected in front, your vehicle accelerates to the set speed.
The vehicle can also pull away when it is facing
an unidentified obstacle or is driving on adiffer-
ent line from another vehicle. The vehicle then
brakes automatically. Be ready to brake at all
times.
If ther eisnov ehicle in front, Distance Pilot
DISTRONIC operates in the same way as cruise
control.
If Distance Pilot DISTRONIC detects aslower-
movingv ehicle in front, it brakes your vehicle. In
this way, the distanc eyou have selected is main-
tained.
If Distance Pilot DISTRONIC detects afaster-
movingv ehicle in front, it increases the driving
speed. However, the vehicle is only accelerated
up to the speed you have stored.
Selecting the drive program
Distance Pilot DISTRONIC supports asporty
driving style when you have selected the Sor S+
drive program (
Ypage 121). Acceleration
behind the vehicle in frontortothe set speed is
then noticeably more dynamic. If you have
selected the Cor Edriving program, the vehicle
accelerates more gently. This setting is recom-
mended in stop-and-start traffic.

Adaptive Damping System
General notes
iMercedes-Benz SLC 43 AMG: the adap-
tive adjustable damping is called AMG sports
suspension.
As uspension with the Adaptive Damping Sys-
tem provides improved driving comfort and con-
tinuously controls the calibration of the damp-
ers. The damping characteristic sadapt to the
currento perating and driving situation.
The damping is tuned individually to each wheel
and depends on:
Ryour driving style, e.g. sporty
Rthe road surface conditions
Rthe selected drive program (Ypage 121).
Selecting the Comfort or Economy drive
programs
In the Comfort andEconomy drive programs,
the driving characteristic sofyour vehicle are

PARKTRONIC
Important safety notes
PARKTRONIC is an electronic parking aid with
ultrasonic sensors. It monitors the area around
your vehicle using six sensor sinthe front
bumper and four sensor sinthe rear bumper.
PARKTRONIC indicates visually and audibly the
distanc ebetween your vehicle and an object.
PARKTRONIC is only an aid. It is not areplace-
ment for your attention to your immediate sur-
roundings .You are alwaysr esponsible for safe
maneuvering, parking and exitin gaparking
space. When maneuvering, parking or pulling
out of aparking space, make sure that there are
no persons,a nimals or object sinthe area in
which you are maneuvering.
Driving systems149

!When parking, pay particular attention to
objects above or below the sensors, such as
flower pots or trailer drawbars. PARKTRONIC
does not detect such objects when they are in
the immediate vicinity of the vehicle. You
could damage the vehicle or the objects.
The sensors may not detect snow and other
objects that absorb ultrasonic waves.
Ultrasonic sources such as an automatic car
wash, the compressed-air brakes on atruck
or ap neumatic drill could cause PARKTRONIC
to malfunction.
PARKTRONIC may not function correctly on
uneven terrain.
PARKTRONIC is activated automaticallyw hen
you:
Rswitch on the ignition
Rshift the transmission to position D,Ror N
Rrelease the electric parking brake
PARKTRONIC is deactivated at speeds above
11 mph (18 km/h). It is reactivated at lower
speeds.
Range of the sensors
General notes
PARKTRONIC does not take objects into con-
sideration that are:
Rbelow the detection range, e.g. people, ani-
mals or objects.
Rabove the detection range, e.g. overhanging
loads, truck overhangs or loading ramps.
:Sensors in the front bumper, left-hand side
(example)
The sensors must be free from dirt, ice or slush.
They can otherwise not function correctly. Clean
the sensors regularly, taking care not to scratch
or damage them (
Ypage 240).
