There is an engine control malfunction .
Drive s low ly to an authorized Audi dealer or au
thor ized Audi Service Fac ility to have the engine
checked .
W Engine control (diesel engine)
Applies to: vehicles w ith diesel engines
The engine is preheat ing if the El indicato r light
turns on when the ign ition is switched on.
If the indicator light does not turn on or bli nks
while driving, there is an eng ine control malfunc
tion .
Immediately drive slowly to an authori zed Audi
dealer or authorized Audi Serv ice Facility to have
the malfunction corrected.
o Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL)
The malfunction indicato r lamp (M IL) is part of
the On-Board Diagnostic System (080 II). The
¢..ij c;ymbol turns on when the ign ition is switched
on and t urns off again on ce the eng ine is started
and r unning at a steady id le speed . This indicates
that the MIL is functioning correctly.
The indica to r li ght turns on if there is a malfunc
tion in the engine electronics . See an a uthorized
Aud i dea ler o r authorized Audi Serv ice Facility to

The diesel pa rticulate fi lter requires regene ra
tion. To suppo rt the fil ter's se lf-cleani ng f unc

Drive app roximate ly 15 m inutes at a minimum
speed of 37 mph (60 km/h) with the se lector lev
er in S, and ma intain an engine speed of approxi
mately 2,000 RPM. The result ing temperature in
crease can burn off the soot in the filter. The ind i
cator light will turn off when the cleaning has completed successfully .

A WARNING
Always adapt your speed to the cur rent

!?>i Engine speed limitation
II) Engine spe ed maximum XXXX RPM
The eng ine speed is automatically limited to the
speed displayed in the inst rument cl uste r. This
pro tects the engine from overheati ng.
The eng ine speed limita tion deactivates once the
engine is no longe r in the critical temperatu re
r ange and you have re leased the accelerator ped
al once .
If the engine speed limitation was activated by
an engine cont rol malfunct ion, the
II ind icator
li ght a lso turns on. Make s ure the engine speed
does not go above the speed displayed, for exam
ple when downshif ting . Drive to an authori zed
Audi dealer or au thorized A udi Service Fac ility im
med iate ly to have the ma lfunction corrected.

Depending on the engine: the engine speed
may be limited when the eng ine is co ld -the
full engine output will not be available. When

-The garage door opener may need to be
synchronized with the system motor after
the programming. Follow the manufactur
er 's instructions for doing this.
- The programming process can take up to 30 seconds. The hand transmitter may need to
be operated again during the process.
- Make sure the batteries in the hand trans
mitter are charged before starting the pro
gramming process.

H igh beams can cause glare for other drivers,
which increases the risk of an acc ident. For
this reason, only use the h igh beams or the
head light flasher when they w ill not create
glare for other drivers.
Lights and V ision
High beam assistant
App lies to : vehicles wi th high beam assistant
The high beam assistant automatically turns the
high beams on or off depending on the surround
ing conditions .
A camera on the rearview mirror mount can de
tect light sources from other road users . The high
beams sw itch on or off automatically depending
on the posit io n of vehicles driving ahead and on
coming vehicles, the vehicle speed and other en
vironmental and traffic conditions.
Activating high beam assistant
Requirement: the light sw itch must be set to the
AUTO posit ion and the high beam ass istant must
be switched on in the Infota inment system

Interior lighting

The interior lighting turns on when you switch
the head ligh ts on while the igni tion is on .
The storage compartment in the door is illumi

- Be careful when adjusting the seat. Adjust
ing the seat without paying attention can
pinch fingers or limbs, which increases the

Entry /exit assistance (second row seats )

In recircu lation mode, the air inside the vehicle is
circu lated and fi ltered. This prevents the unfil
tered air o utside the vehicle from entering the
vehicle interior. Switching recirculation mode on when driving through a tunnel or when sitting in
traffic is recommended

Using the button, recircu lation mode is switched
on and off using the~ button. You can also
switch off the recirculation mode by pressing the knob @ (left side) or the off using the :!: button .
AUTO
Automatic mode
Automatic mode maintains a constant tempera
ture inside the veh icle. Air temperature, airflow
and air distribution are controlled automatically .
You can switch automatic mode on or off by
pressing the knob @ (left side) .
Temperature
You can adjust the temperature between 60°F
(+16°()
and 84°F (+28°() by turning the knob
@ . If outs ide of this range,
LO or HI will appear
in the cl imate control system display . At both of
these sett ings, the cl imate control system runs
continuously at maximum cool ing or heating
power. There is no temperature regulation.
8fr Blower
You can manually adjust the volume of air gener
ated by the blower to your preference by turning
the knob
(D . The blower should always run at a
low setting to prevent the windows from fogging
and to ensure a continuous exchange of air inside
the veh icle. To have the blower regulated auto
mat ically, press the knob @(left side).
Air distribution
You can use the buttons to select the vents
where the air will flow. To have the a ir dist ribu
tion regulated automatically, p ress the knob@
(left s ide).
Warm and cold
J ,J Seat heating/ventilation*
If you press the JI~ button, the seat heating/
ventilation is switches on at the highest leve l (3) .
The LEDs indicate the temperature level. To re
duce the temperature, press the button again. To
switch the seat heating/ventilation off, press the button repeatedly until the LED turns off.
3E Defogging
The windshield and side windows are defrosted
or cleared of condensation as quickly as possible.
The maximum amount of air flows mainly from
the vents below the windsh ield. Recirculation
mode switches off. The temperature should be
set at
+72°F (+22°() or higher . The temperature
is controlled automat ically .
Defrost is switched on and off switched on and
off using the~ button. You can sw itch the func
t ion off by pressing the knob @(left s ide).
Applies to vehicles with winds hield de fogger: the
windshield defogger switches on automatically
when outside temperatures are low. If you would like to sw itch the windshield defroster on man
ually, press the :!: button . The LED in the button
blinks .
,!! Rear window defogger
Press the button~ to switch the rear window de
fogger on. It only operates when the engine is running . It switches off automatically after
10 to
20 minutes, depending on the outs ide tempera
ture .
To keep the rear window defogger on continuous ly, press and hold the~ button longer than
three seconds . This is stored until the ign ition is
switched off .
Synchronization
The function is activated by pressing and holding
the knob @ (left side) . When synchron ization is
switched on, the settings for the driver's side are applied to the front passenger's side and the rear
(except fo r seat heating/vent ilation*). Synchro ni
zation switches off if the settings are changed on
the front passenger's side or in the rear. ..,.
